Within the first three months of ownership, our 2003 Corolla was involved in two separate incidents in which the brakes failed, both of which resulted in collisions. In the first instance (June 12, 2002), while attempting to brake at approximately 45 mph, the brakes locked and the vehicle (over which the driver no longer had control) collided with a vehicle in front. After the collision, the brakes were completely inoperable. This collision resulted in injuries to the driver of the Corolla, and significant damage to the front end of the Corolla. In the second incident (August 29, 2002), the brakes failed while attempting to park, resulting in a collision with a parked car. This collision also resulted in damage to the front end of the Corolla.

Stepped on the brakes, but they failed to stop, airbag also failed, brakes fade to the floor, resulted in hitting another vehicle. Air bag did not open.
We had the delership look at vehicle four times and they claimed my wife did not know what she was talking about. The fifth time on June 2nd we took it to another delership and they said the right front strut assembly was faulty and replaced. We have also noticed the brakes do not operate normally all the time but no action has been taken. Lastly, my wife had a wreck and the air bags did not diploy. We contacted Toyota and they said they would send someone out to look at the vehicle. So, far they have not been fully cooperative. In notifying you I hope that maybe no one else will be injured in a more serious accident if the car turns to be faulty. Sincerely william and holly skeen.

Vehicle experienced brake failure prior to accident, however dealership could not identify problem, loss of brakes resulted in vehicle rear end collision, no deployment of both air bags during collision resulting in injury.
A/c off, slightly down grade, 30 mph, 3rd gear, starting to accelarate, applied brakes suddenly, found no response for 10-15 ft and then full force brakes came on.
When sitting at a stop sign the pedal will slip down to the floorboard half way, and when driving and going to apply the brakes, the pedal will slip away from foot. This happens often, and the vehicle has been in for repairs three times. They adjusted the brakes, and they still can't determine the problem.
