1 Service Brakes problem of the 2024 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 08/11/2025

There was a recall on my vehicle for the skid and emergency braking and was told it was taken care of Feb 2025 at my service appointment. I was involved in a car accident on Aug 11, 2025, everything that was supposed to be fixed in the recall did not operate during my crash. I reconfirmed with the dealership that they did the recall repair and they again said yes but if they did then the repair completely failed. There was no emergency braking available, the car skid a long distance, no airbags deployed even though all sensors in the front were engaged and collision center confirmed they should have gone off. Vehicle is currently at collision center and is available to be inspected.

2 Service Brakes problem of the 2024 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 07/28/2025

I was driving down the road, slowed down and moved over to the left side of the lane as I was passing a bicyclist. The car interpreted the bicyclist as a car and applied aeb. The aeb was not fully applied, thankfully. The car did not come to a complete stop. If it did, I may have been rear ended by the person behind me.

4 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 06/02/2025

The emblem on my car contains a sensor/radar for adaptive cruise control and foward collision warning that is also connected to automatic emergency brakes. The safety of me and my [xxx] old are at risk because if I needed assisted braking/collision warning, my car no longer provides that. The braking on my car feels as if I am needing to apply a lot of pressure on the brake to stop completely or even to come to slower speeds to adjust to traffic. The problem was reproduced prior to me officially picking up my car on [xxx]. The estimator told me that he isn't quite sure what is causing the sensor issue but according to the calibration system it is working fine and he doesn't know how to fix the issue. As for the brakes he said that they feel fine to him. My car was inspected by crash champions and I have been told that my vehicle feels fine and the sensor is working fine according to the calibration system. My car did not originally have this issue until after an accident on [xxx]. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

5 Service Brakes problem of the 2024 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 05/19/2025

I was leaving out of the parking lot of the shops santa anita. I was parked underneath by [xxx] and proceeded to to leave and turn out right towards the wide open parking lot. At the time I was leaving, it was completely empty. This parking lot is wide open as I was leaving and I’m going no more than 15 mph when suddenly a beeping sound goes off and the car slams on its brakes on its own! I didn’t even have enough time to stop on my own and look to see what the alert sound was. The car stop and jerked me so hard and slammed forward so hard. Thankfully I was in an empty open parking lot. That would have cause a very bad car accident and I would have been badly hurt and the car that would have slammed into me from behind! this has left me with so much anxiety and I am now very scared to drive this car at all even. I haven’t even had this car for a year and this is the second time I’ve had an issue with it. And I tried explaining to the dealership that for the past couple weeks to month that when I drive the car, it has this pulling feeling when I’m coasting. It has never felt that way before. This is supposed to be a new car. It doesn’t even have 15,000 miles on it yet! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

6 Service Brakes problem of the 2024 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 05/18/2025

Dear better business bureau, I am filing a formal complaint against Toyota motor north America regarding a serious and unresolved safety defect in my 2024 Toyota Corolla le (VIN [xxx]). The vehicle experienced two incidents of sudden unintended acceleration—the second, on [xxx], resulted in a collision. Despite my repeated efforts to resolve the issue, Toyota has failed to respond adequately or provide critical diagnostic data. In both incidents ([xxx] and [xxx]), while stopped at a red light, the vehicle suddenly surged forward despite my foot being on the brake. On [xxx] this caused a collision. My vehicle has remained undrivable since. Toyota conducted a diagnostic inspection on may 29 under case #[xxx]. I’ve repeatedly requested access to the raw data from this inspection to understand the defect, but Toyota has not responded. Emails to the assigned case manager, ms. Cynthia ware, have gone unanswered. When I was directed to reply to a support email, it bounced back as a “do-not-reply” address, redirecting me to a login page which falsely claimed I had no active cases. This created an endless communication loop. Toyota’s lack of transparency and support is unacceptable—especially given the severity of the issue and the fact that the vehicle is still under warranty. I am requesting: immediate release of the raw diagnostic data from the may 29 inspection a prompt resolution, including full repair, replacement, or buyback clear, responsive communication from an authorized representative this is not only a financial burden, but a serious safety risk. I respectfully request bbb’s assistance in securing a resolution and holding Toyota accountable. Thank you for your time.

7 Service Brakes problem of the 2024 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 03/27/2025

I was able to distinguish today the car noises my vehicle is making happens when I break. Like a “eeeeek” sound. My mileage is under 8,000, had the car almost a year. Also I notice my wheel stiffens. I’m able to verify it happens when I merge - specifically when the lane dashes end. The wheel somehow gets tight even when driving with both hands. As if the vehicle gets confused. This has happened about 5 times this year but every time it happens- I brace myself for the vehicle to crash since I can’t control the wheel, no matter how strong I try to gain control. The wheel gets too tight to steer. These episodes lasts about 3-4 seconds. I am going to take it to the dealership on April 1, 2025. Also there were no messages on my dashboard when these episodes occurred.

8 Service Brakes problem of the 2003 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 03/03/2025

My mother got in the car and as soon as the car was put on drive, the car accelerated to its max potential, but when she attempted to hit the brakes they did not respond. So max acceleration, on its own, and brakes did not work. She ended up in the hospital for 9 days suffering a broken rib, front teeth missing, they had to sew her tongue back together, both cheeks shattered, broken clavicle and she has a hole right under the back of her skull. Miraculously, after she flipped to the side and took out two trees, the third tree flipped her back to right side up, and stopped the vehicle completely.

10 Service Brakes problem of the 2005 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 01/03/2025

Complaint against ben nielsen skyline automotive – faulty repairs & lack of response I am filing a complaint regarding incomplete and faulty repairs performed on my household’s 2005 Toyota Corolla ce at ben nielsen skyline automotive on November 22, 2024 (invoice #1 attached) and January 3, 2025 (invoice #2 attached). During my first visit, the mechanic identified an oil leak, added dye to locate the source, and instructed me to return after 100 miles for further repairs. I followed these instructions and returned on January 3, 2025, when the shop also adjusted the tie rod and installed new rear brakes. At the time, I trusted that the work had been completed to a professional standard and that my vehicle was safe to drive. However, during a visit to shirlington shell on February 22, 2025, for an unrelated inspection (invoice #3 attached), their mechanic raised serious concerns about the quality of repairs done by ben nielsen skyline automotive: - the tie rod adjustment was not completed properly, which the second mechanic stated made the car potentially unsafe to drive (video evidence available upon request). - the fluid leak was not fully resolved. - the rear brakes installed by ben nielsen skyline automotive are making noise, suggesting they were not installed correctly. These issues indicate that the repairs I paid for were either incomplete or improperly performed, leading to safety concerns and additional costs to diagnose and correct the problems. After discovering these faults, I made multiple attempts to contact ben nielsen skyline automotive via phone and email to request a resolution, including a full reimbursement for the tie rod adjustment, fluid leak repair, and rear brake installation. Unfortunately, my email messages and calls have gone unanswered, leaving me no choice but to escalate this matter.

12 Service Brakes problem of the 2016 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 11/30/2024

I recently 6 weeks ago bought a used certified 2016 Toyota Corolla with 43,000 miles. I have been going back and forth with Toyota since the day after I bought it about the many mechanical issues that pose a major safety risk. The car shudders/vibrates when accelerating, knocks when backing up. And when making turns the car shifts hard side to side with a shudder and wobble in floor board of car. It feels as if you don’t have control of the vehicle when driving. It has lots of loose play in the front end and steering really the whole car. It also has a problem going up hill and jumping on fwy a major problem accelerating. They keep telling me car is working per design but this is a lie. I have taken it to 2 other mechanics who told me this car has major issues safety ones to take it back. Toyota fixed the control arms stating that might be what it is but the same problems remain. I am afraid to drive this vehicle and they refuse to figure out the problems and fix them. 2 days after buying it I told them take the car back it has too many mechanical issues they refused. I don’t know what to do I cannot continue driving this car like this and in the rain it could barely handle also. The car has a feeling of loss of control like the whole frame of car is loose. I need help and don’t know what else to do I’ve taken the car back to them about 15 times. They continue to lie and say nothing is wrong even though when I test drove it with the head mechanic. He admitted the car has major issues but told me he did not want to get involved and I would have to take it up with management. I traded in my 2011 SUV that was in good working order to buy this smaller car so my daughter could also learn to drive. They should have never sold this vehicle with this many mechanical safety issues please help.

15 Service Brakes problem of the 2022 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 11/12/2024

Epb shift interlock function activated message on the dashboard briefly before start-up. This has occurred even though the car hasn't had any issues before. 16 Service Brakes problem of the 2023 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 10/31/2024

We were driving on [xxx] near norcross, GA about 200 ft from exit [xxx] at a constant speed of around 70 mph, when suddenly the vehicle displayed 'system malfunction' and started veering on its own and the brakes wouldn't work. It kept veering to the right and crashed into a vehicle 2 lanes away and rebounded back to the original lane and came to a halt with a message displayed 'shifting to p'. The malfunction and loss of control, along with the brakes not functioning those few seconds/minutes put our lives and others' on the road at risk. The vehicle is available for inspection. The vehicle was towed on the day of the accident and then taken into a Toyota dealership and is currently there. The vehicle has not yet been repaired. Toyota sent a third-party inspector to gather data from the vehicle but that turned out to be merely the crash data up to 5 seconds prior by which time the malfunction had already occurred and the vehicle speed was down from 70mph to 31mph. The incident occurred on Thursday, [xxx]. We do not feel safe driving that vehicle again. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

17 Service Brakes problem of the 2013 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 09/16/2024

On Monday, [xxx], I was at the cvs pharmacy drive through when the failure occurred. There was no accident and otherwise no warning before it happened. I attempted to pull out when I noticed the car was drifting and the steering was extremely stiff. I looked down to see that the airbag light and brake light were both on. I coasted into a spot I happened to be aligned with. As I did, I felt the brakes and steering stiffen even more until they were almost 100% seized. (kind of felt like I was fighting hydraulic fluid. ) you guys are welcome to request to inspect the vehicle. I haven't been able to get it inspected, because the Toyota dealership wants me to pay a diagnostic fee to prove the airbag light came on due to the airbag assembly for them to be able to cover the work under the extended warranty for the airbag system. There was no accident. I thankfully didn't have any speed behind me. So, I just barely had enough brakes to stop. This also means that I didn't make an insurance claim or call the police. I did get a tow truck to come out with state farm roadside assistance, though. The vehicle is at my father's house. We far as how this has affected us, I'm never buying a vehicle with electric steering again. At least with traditional power steering, if there's a failure, you can still steer the vehicle, even if it is difficult. If I had been coming down the winding, 6% grade from lake tahoe to carson when it occurred a few nights ago, I wouldn't have been able to stop or steer; I probably would have went into the ravine. Had we been on the highway or even coming down the hill in carson from[xxx] when I lost controls, we could both be dead right now. What's worse is I saw a forum where a bunch of people were talking about this happening to them: losing brakes and steering randomly, while actively driving. A few of them were only at 40k miles. In each case, airbags did not deploy. I think the sensor is causing the crashes sporadically. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5.

18 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Toyota Corolla

19 Service Brakes problem of the 2024 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 08/30/2024

[xxx] in reading the above article, Toyota recalled Corolla cross hybrid vehicles with many complaints and situations mirroring our accident. Before the accident, the vehicle displayed no warning signs. Despite the driver pressing the brakes and the assisted braking feature seemingly turning on (e. G. , signal lights on the computer system), neither seemed to work in this situation. The damage was far too severe for the assisted braking feature to have activated, along with the driver pressing the brakes. After viewing the matter with those involved in the accident, many of us concurred that we believe either the braking system or the computer system failed. In the aftermath of the accident, the police, manufacturer, or third party hadn't reviewed the vehicle's status. On top of that, our insurance refused to investigate, urging us to discuss the matter with Toyota. Thus, we'd propose that the Corolla se may experience an issue similar to the vehicles in the article. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

20 Service Brakes problem of the 2022 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 08/01/2024

M car was towed to Toyota because my automatic parking brake failed to release. No warning lights nor any indication my battery was low. It licked my rear wheels so I could not drive. (thank god I was not in a fire zone requiring evacuation!) there are no manual release for the emergency brake to use in an emergency to flee an area. They said my battery was not carrying the load, and replaced it. This is a very serious safety issue! what if it was a Sunday and Toyota closed?? most repair shops are closed on sundays! I’m [xxx] and [xxx]. Please advise Toyota to add or retrofit a manual parking brake release to resolve this issue. And…. Check to make sure their analysis was correct that my battery was too low! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

21 Service Brakes problem of the 2022 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 07/15/2024

The contact owns a 2022 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated that while attempting to reverse, the message “automatic brake not available” was displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 36,000. The VIN was not available.

22 Service Brakes problem of the 2024 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 07/10/2024

The system that is problematic for this vehicle is the pre collision system (pcs). This system is way too sensitive even on the lowest sensitivity setting, and I have experienced the car braking in error on multiple occasions when driving up or down a windy road. When I approach a bend in the road and there is a car parked on the side of the street, my Corolla will think that I am about to collide with the parked vehicle and make a loud beeping noise and automatically hit the brakes. This has frightened me on a number of occasions, and I am concerned that one day the car will brake in error while there is another vehicle behind me, resulting in a read-end collision. The only consistent method of avoiding this is to drive past the median in the road when approaching bends, which I very much dislike doing, as driving in the middle of the road has its own obvious risks. I have tried contacting the dealership about this, and was told to contact the service department. The service department was no help, saying that they aren't able to do anything about it and that I could try lowering the sensitivity of the pcs, which I had already done. This wouldn't be such a huge issue if there was a way to permanently turn it off. The process for turning it off takes about a minute, as it requires navigating a menu and finding the pcs option to turn off. Unfortunately, the pcs automatically reactivates every time the car is turned off and on again, and even if I use the shortcut method of holding the lane assist button for several seconds to disable the pcs, the car's screen will constantly flash, telling me that the pcs is turned off and annoying the driver to turn it back on. I know that Toyota does not have this issue with their pcs systems on their other vehicles, as I have driven a 2019 camry before and the pcs system never went off when I drove on the same road, which led me to believe that the system on this 2024 Corolla is somehow defective.

23 Service Brakes problem of the 2023 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 07/01/2024

Multiple malfunctions causing the engine to misfire and eventually seize completely. Toyota never found out the issue but the engine failed. The suspect poor build quality. 25 Service Brakes problem of the 2020 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 05/31/2024

The anti-lock brake system (abs) malfunctioned when the vehicle was still very new, with only 25,000 miles. Diagnostics from two independent service centers confirmed that the abs electronic control unit is failing due to an external failure. Both specialists stated that such a failure is highly uncommon and is a clear quality issue related to the electronic components. A critical system like abs should not fail this early, raising serious concerns about the durability and reliability of the vehicle’s braking system.

27 Service Brakes problem of the 2020 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 05/04/2024

At 4 years and 1/2 old car 2020 Corolla xse an engine maintenance required see dealer light turned on. Did diagnostic with obd 2 scanner at two locations auto body shop and uto zone. Nothing appears. It is in fact a needed future recall since thousands if not more people have encountered the same. It is a coolant by pass valbe. Cost is only $99. 53 + tax at dealer. Problem is that should be under warranty or extended warranty or recall. Dealer likes to charge $800 (180-200 for diagnostic, $110 part, $400 labor. Part only takes 30 minutes to install. I should be able to buy at dealer for $110 and have them install for free or pay 30 minutes of work time = $85. 1 hour is about $175. So instead of trying to be billed $800 I should only be billed for $85 labor (30 minutes) + $110 part = brand total of $105 usd. My daughter emily escobar and I, ernesto escobar (dad) bought the car at longo Toyota el monte, CA 91731.
