Tl- the contact owns a 2017 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated that while driving about 3 mph, the vehicle did not stop at a stop. The contact pulled the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. There was no warning. The dealer was not called. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to take the vehicle to the nearest dealer. The vehicle was taken to the mojave Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, ram & Toyota of barstow dealer (760-256-3502, located at 631 main st, barstow, CA 92311) where it was diagnosed that the master cylinder needed to be replaced. The technician ordered the parts. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000. The VIN was not provided. Fe.
Purchased vehicle September 2015 with 59,000 miles. 8 months later the master cylinder malfunctions. Brake pedal has to be pushed all the way to the floor and makes a weird noise, like a creaking noise. I take it to be repaired. They bleed the brakes. Temporary fix. November 2016, same problem and I take it to be repaired and master cylinder is replaced. 5 months later, same problem and the master cylinder is being replaced again for the 2nd time.
Bought may 2015, warm day, firm brakes. Wet, cold fall months brakes became soft w/ excessive travel & erratic during 40mph & under. Took to dealer sept 2015 at 1,562 miles. Tech performed road test. Couldn¿t duplicate contions. Checked for codes. Stated ¿found normal braking conitions¿. I started driving again & noticed during warm days around 70 deg brakes changed hardness with a/c on. More firm. During colder days brakes would go within 2 inches of floor before working. Took to dealer on ¿walk in¿ basis when car was acting up. Drove w/ tech 1 hr tried to get him to notice difference in brakes. Tech stated brakes were acting ¿normal¿ & that I just wasn¿t familiar w/ how the systems operated. I instisted it wasn¿t normal. Tech contacted manufacturer. They said replace master cylinder and bleed system. Returned car & stated ¿driving correctly now¿. I started driving again & noticed whisteling sound coming from engine compt when driving under 30mph between bdlgs w/ window down. Brakes go all the way to the floor at times & they grab & stop the car abruptly. Especially in stop-&-go traffic. Took to dealer March 2016 at 4,800 miles. I suggested checking entire vacuum system for leaks. Tech only checked line to brake booster. Tech made ¿little¿ adjustment to e-brake & rear brakes. Tech stated brakes ¿feels similar to new Corolla¿ & no whistling sound. I can still hear whistling sound & brakes still have same issues! I think it¿s a design flaw related to the entire vacuum system & should be recalled! told dealer. Test drove 2016 Honda civic w/ similar braking systems it performed like a new car should! other issues w/this Corolla are the suspension is too ¿loose¿ when traveling above 55mph & changing lanes, the engine is way to loud when accel & often knocks during accel & idling (changed gas stations & checked fuel type, still same problem), & headlights r 2 bright. . .

I am filing a complaint to report a brake failure on my Toyota Corolla 2007 with 42,000 miles on the odometer. On June 25, 2013, I was in the passenger seat and my son was driving the car when the brakes began to fail. To slow down, he had to push on the brake pedal gradually further and further until it eventually reached the floor, making then the hissing sound of air forced through a small opening. We went into a parking lot and, by the time we found a space, the brakes were gone. We used the hand-brake to stop. Two hours later, when the tow truck came, I discovered that the brakes were functional again. The next day, the dealer, Toyota north of mount kisco, NY, was unable to replicate the failure and was at a loss to advise me. The brakes being so critical to safe driving and intermittent failure being unacceptable, I decided to change the master cylinder at own my expense. Regrettably, when I went to get the car on June 28, 1013, I was told that neither the dealer nor Toyota would take the master cylinder apart to understand why it failed. An opportunity to improve future safety was lost.

Brakes failed, pedal goes to floor, attempt to press brake pedal again still results in pedal moving to floor with no braking. Hit car in front. 2nd occurrence. First occurrence in June 2011. Dealer said they could find nothing wrong. Same problem occurred on 2/21/2012. Brakes then work after incident. Failure seems intermittent. Dealer service manager says he thinks the problem could be a master cylinder. Toyota investigating. So far had investigator inspect car but have not yet authorized dealer to do any repairs.
When applying the brake pedal, sitting stopped in traffic, the brake pedal seems to fade away intermittently. You only loose about 1-2" of pedal height, but the car will start to roll forward if you do not notice it and apply more pedal pressure to stop the car. I am ase certified in brakes and it has a bad master cylinder. Toyota states the this is a "normal" condition for this vehicle and refuses to warranty this issue. This vehicle has 4800 miles on it.

The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Corolla. While driving 30 mph, the contact attempted to apply the brakes while approaching a traffic light. The brake pedal extended substantially farther into the floorboard than usual. The dealer was unable to offer a remedy for the failure. There were no repairs made to the vehicle. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic where the master cylinder was replaced. The failure persisted. The failure mileage was 13,000 and the current mileage was 24,885. Updated 05/19/2010.

In June 2006 the brakes on the 2005 Toyota Corolla suddenly felt loose, but they worked ,and a mechanic found no problem. I noticed that the brakes were dragging and reported this to the dealership, but before I could go in for service the brakes locked in downtown minneapolis during rush hour. I got my car to a nearby service station and they replaced the brake pads and other worn-out parts. The car was fine for a few weeks, I submitted the brake work under my warranty, then the brakes began dragging again. I brought the car to my dealership, they found no problem, and Toyota denied my claim under the theory that "brakes aren't covered. " I think my master cylinder malfuntions when the temperature is high. Toyota has no response to the problem of my brakes dragging and locking up, other than to blame me.

Brakes failed-brakes locked up on me in busy freeway conditions. I feared for my life as I struggled to get off the freeway. Thank god I did. That 2003 Corolla almost killed me. The dealer confirmed the problem and exchanged me into another Corolla.

October 1999 - brakes light came on immediately called for insp. - service depart. Said my brakes needed cleaned and adjusted - topped off master cylinder - now it passed state insp. On 1/11/00. 2/29/00 brought back for noise coming from brakes - said there was no problem brakes needed cleaned & adjusted when I left service dept. Problem was still occuring - called set up another appt - 3/8/00 service dept found rear drums rusted - rear shoes cracked - a rent a car was given 3/7/00 returned it on 3/8/00 - they replaced rear brake drums and shoes - now could this happen in a few days on 2/29 you said no problem? 4/11/00 brought car back for insp due to same noise but now worse had service mgr now do a test run with me - service dept found front brake pads cracking and rotors scored left front axle shaft internal defect - front bearing internal problem - both front hubs need replaced - rent a car was given to me again. Now 6/00 noise is back on 7/14/00 took car for another under carrage insp, oil- filter change, 4 wheel alignment, etc. . They said no problem its just brake dust. The noise is still current as of today 7/23/00. I now have to call them & they already treat me with ignorance, I'm looking into filing for the lemon law I need some satisfaction - how could all of these problems be overlooked? - I feel my life is in the hands of Toyota's service dept - and I don't feel safe at all. They gave me an extended warranty of 6 year or 100,000. 00 miles after I asked for it. I stated now that I have my reconstructed vehicle back would Toyota grant me an extended warranty and stand behind there parts. They did but the stress and loss of work due to many service appts is so aggravating. Maybe my problem could be of use to you. If I could assist in any further questions please call - I still have to make another appt for my vehicle -I mean is it really brake dust this time or is the car going to fall apart at a high rate of speed with me in it? thank you.
