39 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 09/06/2023

Around 40k miles I received an engine maintenance required warning. After some research engine maintenance and engine service required are two very different indicators. I received and p2681 code meaning the electrical coolant bypass valve had failed unfortunately one can’t tell if it’s stuck shut or open this could lead to one’s care over heating and or damaging one’s engine. After some research I’ve come to find out most 2020-2024 Corollas have been having this issue tends to happen about 30-50k miles.

40 Electrical System problem of the 2019 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 08/06/2023

Phone charging cord is prone to getting pulled into the steering column and extremely difficult to remove. When I was able to remove the cord, I discovered a wire or spring the steering wheel assembly must have come undone, because the airbag light is on, and my cruise control no longer works, and neither do the steering wheel controls for the radio.

41 Electrical System problem of the 2017 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 07/21/2023

On the morning of July 21st the vehicle was parked in the garage the night before when all of the sudden our neighbors were yelling at my wife and I to exit the house because they saw fire flames and black smoke coming out of the garage. Everything in that garage and part of the house was destroyed. After it was safe to enter the house we noticed the damage was concentrated where the Toyota was parked, the explosion from the engine caused the hood to almost touch the windshield. Half the engine was gone.

42 Electrical System problem of the 2019 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 06/29/2023

I was at a red light. When the light turned green and I pressed the accelerator the car wouldn’t move. The check engine, charging system malfunction and electronic power steering system warning light appeared on dash. Car locked up. I moved car into neutral and then drive and car was able to move. Took it to dealer next day. Cars almost ran into the back of me! I had just turned on the street from I-85! so far it hasn’t been reproduced at dealer.

43 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 06/17/2023

We discovered that there was an explosion of some sort inside the car on the passenger side, which seems to have potentially involve the air bag system and/or electrical around the system, but this is not entirely known. The car was parked at the time and had not been driven for approximately 65 hours. It appears there was a fire but we did not witness. The dash is melted leaving a gaping hole, what appears to be portions of the air bag are partially disintegrated and stuck to the ceiling, the ceiling is charred, the sun visor is melted and distorted, and hanging down, underneath the dash is also melted, and the smell in the car is absolutely stifling. The windshield is shattered in one spot, with additional cracks stemming from that point of contact. The windshield is damaged from the impact from inside the car and is pushing out. The car was locked, there is no evidence of forced entry or attempted forced entry. It has never been in a collision. The car was parked three feet away from our motorhome in the confines of our RV spot at an asphalt campground. The safety of all in the area was at risk, and furthermore, since this explosion was unprovoked, if we had been in the car at the time, it's unimaginable as to what sort of bodily damage the passengers, especially the passenger seat occupant, would have incurred. I do not believe the problem can be reproduced, but the car has yet to be inspected. I am currently awaiting insurance to take the car via tow truck to inspect it. There were no warnings, messages, or other symptoms.

47 Electrical System problem of the 2021 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 05/04/2023

My car shows that the vehicle needed to be serviced, in checking the Toyota app I saw there was a warning for the adaptive lighting system/electrical concern. The warning light had been on for some time, thinking I was due for regular maintenance like an oil change I had ignored it for a bit. Everytime I would start the car this warning would appear. I too the car in for service, they also did a 20k maintenance service and kept the car overnight overnight as they were unable to locate the issue same day. The following day I was advised they couldn't determine the issue and they cleared the code.

48 Electrical System problem of the 2022 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 04/10/2023

One day car does'nt crank. Instrumental panel was dark. ' opened hood checked and closed hood and car started. After 3 weeks later while driving interstate this happened again twice within 2 miles apart when I was returning home. It happened again at 65 miles per hour on the highway. Cruise control lost, lane assist failed instrumental panel getting dark and a message was reading " check the electrical system". At the dealership parked at the service desk, they asked whether I took a video or pic of the incident. When they tried to start the car to move to the shop car didn't start and same incident happened. Tech found positive terminal cable loose. He retorque cable and after that we do not have that issue. Its a new car and battery terminal loose? another electrical issue with the car was unable to open and close front passenger windows from the drivers side switch. Tech found right side windows was not calibrated.

49 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 03/18/2023

Volume of media from certain apps can't be adjusted. The vehicle says that if media is not playing, the volume can't be adjusted. This can cause distraction while driving and increase risk of a crash. Specific application where this is the case: youtube audio through an android auto connection. Yes it is available for inspection. My safety and the safety of others is at risk, because all Toyota models with this infotainment system function the same way. Drivers may choose to become distracted by their mobile device while trying to adjust the media volume, risking a crash. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by dealer, however it would be very easy for me to do so. The vehicle has not been inspected by any party outside of the Toyota dealership. When attempting to adjust the volume, the volume level will appear as a numerical value in the infotainment screen only if there is currently "audio" playing. If there is no "audio" playing, an error message will appear telling the occupant to begin playing audio to adjust the volume. This becomes an issue when using an app like youtube to play audio. With youtube premium, you can set a playlist of music, videos, or podcasts to listen to with the screen of your mobile device off. However, the infotainment system will not detect the audio the speakers is playing as audio, and will not adjust the volume. This leaves the driver with no choice but to pay for a spotify, sirius xm or youtube music subscription in order to listen to music or media and adjust the volume safely. Reproduction: start vehicle. Start android auto. Start playing media through youtube. Attempt to adjust media volume using the dial or buttons in the vehicle. Error message should appear. Only way to adjust volume is to switch to fm/am radio, play spotify or other app to adjust volume and then resume youtube media (requires touching phone), or don't use android auto and pay for Toyota gps. How to fix: allow volume adjustment at all times.

Car stalled at stoplight. Loud tone sound with ‘power steering low’ indicator with check engine light on. Wheel locked. Needed to put in park and restart car. Very scary and unsafe! multiple people on reddit and youtube have reported this!.

51 Electrical System problem of the 2022 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 02/28/2023

I bought my car Toyota Corolla coss has three months with 3,700 miles on it. And has had two times problems. The first time, on February 28 2023 at 8 a. M. , I was at a traffic light stop my car about 15 seconds later when I heard a warning beep. The message read "low steering power," low battery, and then steering lock. I tried to turn off the engine button, but there was no response. I pressed it three times, put the handle stop on the park, and then started it again. My car was parked in the middle of the road, causing a traffic jam behind me, and I couldn't get out because it was dangerous. The second time in March 10. 2023 3pm. After the stop at the light and anything like first time. . . It was rainy both times. I'm worried it's dangerous on the highway. It was raining and I had my wipers on and my stop and start system on. I haven't reported it to Toyota dealership. Both of them are in the middle of the road. I'm not sure if there are any defects in this car. Thank you!.

52 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 02/23/2023

Two weeks and three days after picking up my 2023 Corolla cross from the dealership, I was in stop and go traffic on a busy road. I came to a stop at a red light and my car started making a continuous beeping noise. The display alternated between "engine stopped steering power low" and "engine stopped press brake firmly to restart. " I pressed the brake very firmly multiple times, with no effect. When the light turned green, I tried to move my car to the side of the road, but it did not move. The cars behind me -- including the semi truck directly behind me -- started cutting into traffic in an attempt to get around. I finally put it in park and tried to turn it off, which finally turned the engine back on. (I only had to press the start/stop button once. ) once the engine came on, the car worked normally. The dealership has not been able to reproduce the problem, but an internet search shows that this is not an isolated incident.

53 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 02/22/2023

Engine stopped at a red light and I had an indicator saying that the power steering was low and to press the brake to reset. Try to once it happened yesterday two 222/2023.

54 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 02/17/2023

At a stop, the engine shuts off. This is normal. In two instances, the vehicle threw up multiple warning lights (press brake firmly to restart) and would not start on the release of the brake. The second incident happened on a hill and the vehicle began to roll backwards. The vehicle then needs to be put in park, shut off and restarted. On the restart it moves again. The dealer was called about this, but said they didn't know it was a problem. They cannot replicate. The safety issue is that the car needs to restart to drive again. At a green light, the car is at risk of being hit since it won't be moving, as expected. It is also a problem that when the brake is released and the issue happens the car can roll backward.

55 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 02/16/2023

I was at a stoplight and the car cut off. Not the normal auto power down feature, there was no power. A message saying press the brake down to restart appeared. Then a message saying steering power low appeared. The check engine light came on. I pressed the break down, and the vehicle did not restart. I put the car in park then restarted it and was able to drive again. But at the very next light, the same thing happened.

56 Electrical System problem of the 2022 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 02/01/2023

There has been several instances where I’m trying to cross a divided highway and the accelerator doesn’t respond. I’ve had three near death experiences. There’s been other times where it will just shut off and restart without a warning. It’s been in my driveway thankfully. When I pull out in front of someone, it doesn’t respond either. I have had the pedal all the way down to the floor and it wouldn’t go for about 5-6 seconds.

57 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 01/28/2023

This is a new Corolla cross 2023 fwd car just bought one month only. It keeps stalling out during stop at traffic light on the road, the dashboard showed “ignition on”, “steering power low”, “engine check signal”, warning beeps and then the car was locked. This happened 5 times within 2 weeks. This is a safety issue. First time (01/28/2023) getting towed car back to Toyota dealership, the technician quality checked and no code was found. They just changed the battery and gave back to me. However, 3 days later, vehicle’s engine was stopped and same situation happened again. Now the vehicle sent back to dealership again and wait for further investigation. This is a repeat problem!! safety issue!!.

58 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 01/25/2023

I was stopped at a light and the check engine light came on, warning sounds and low steering power light flashed. Car would not move. I was able to put the car in park and turn off and back on and was able to proceed. Dealer found no error codes or defects when I took it to the dealership. They are keeping it for more diagnostics.

59 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 01/25/2023

I was pulling up to a stoplight and the eps electrical power steering light came on and warning of power loss to steering wheel, low engine power and auto start stop indicator light was also illuminated. I put the car in park turned the car off and back on and then the system reset and I was able to drive normally. This is a brand new car that I purchased Monday (2 days ago).

60 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 01/17/2023

I have been experiencing an issue with the auto stop/start function that kicks in when you brake. It's inconsistent, but sometimes when I am at an intersection or waiting to turn out onto a road it malfunctions. Initially it works as intended and turns off my engine when I brake. Then if I remain stopped for a bit, instead of restarting the engine I hear an alarm sound and the dash screen says "engine stopped. Press brake firmly to restart" and shows the check engine light and the low power steering warning lights - then actually states "engine stopped" and "steering power low". When I press the brake firmly - all the way to the floor in fact, nothing happens. I have to throw my car into park and restart it. This is worrisome when I am at a busy intersection or waiting to pull out onto a road. Nobody wants their car dying on them when they are trying to work with the flow of traffic. The issue seems to happen typically at times where I have not been driving very long and am doing in-town driving with stops. I caught it on video once and it was about 2. 5 minutes into my drive. If I leave the auto stop/start on, it will continue to do this at stops - so it's not just once per drive. Furthermore, the feature is not one that you can have "off" by default. I cannot find any setting to have it not turn on when the car starts - I have to turn it off using the button near the gear shift. If I am driving for a long time, it will turn itself back on. It's unnerving to have a feature that is malfunctioning that you can't turn off completely, that turns itself back on. I drive my car daily and purchased on 12/31/2022, so the battery and systems should be functioning. I have experienced this 1/8/2023 1/13/2023 1/17/2023 (caught on video) took to shop 1/14/23, they could not replicate. Took back 1/26/23 with video, they could not replicate. No solution found. Cannot attach video to this form, so linked here: https://photos. App. Goo. Gl/mtvjxmvabvyt2hwu6 thank you.

63 Electrical System problem of the 2017 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 12/16/2022

The car was in a traffic jam, when the car automatically turned off and the control panel started to display the battery signal. This event occurred when the car was in the middle of a road. The car was pushed by other person to a safety area and then it was turned on. This situation never happened before. The vehicle battery is practically new and after the incident, the battery signal (lamp) has not been activated. The vehicle was evaluated by a Toyota authorized dealer, cleaning the combustion system, but there is uncertainty that this situation can occur again. A car that automatically turned off in the middle of the road is a safety issue for the driver and passengers, and also for other drivers.

64 Electrical System problem of the 2021 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 11/18/2022

I am making a complaint about my 2021 Corolla se because I am constantly running into issues that cost and are not my fault as to why these issues have come about. I bought my car in March 2021, in may 2021 my car hit a bump in the highway and cracked my rim and bust my tire. Luckily I have alloy and tire coverage so I did not have to come out of my pocket. Next, my two front tires are constantly wearing down on the inside of the tread making the wires be exposed and causing me to have a blow out or needing to replace my tires at least 4 to 5 times since I have had my car. My car only has 71,000 on it to need that many tires replaced. I go and get my car serviced where I purchased my car at the Toyota dealer so if I needed and alignment or tires rotated they would have let me know that and the only time I was informed I needed an alignment was when I got all new tires. Then, in November of 2022 my front lighting sytem when completely out ( signals lights, blinkers, brake lights, etc. I went to get it checked on and the dealer made me feel as if I had an entire electrical issue going on with my car and I would have to pay $160 x2 in order for them to just figure out what was wrong with my practically new vehicle. They came back and explained it was only a fuse and the fuse is $5 but still attempted to charge me for diagnostics. After this encounter I had to be ugly just to not come out of pocket for a large sum. At that visit there was an "engine malfunction" light on as well that they did not mend and continues to blink to this date. Prior to my last servicing appointment last week my entire radio system went out ( backup camera, radio, gps system, bluetooth). I was told at the dealer that I would have to pay $160 for them to diagnose my issue and and then pay for the repair. I asked my service manager if there were any recalls on my car for these issues and he stated no but as for the 2022-2023 models there are recalls. I need help with this.

65 Electrical System problem of the 2022 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 10/11/2022

The contact owns a 2022 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated while his wife was driving approximately 5 mph and making a left turn, the steering wheel locked. Additionally, the windshield wipers and the windshield washer fluid engaged independently. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer two times, and the dealer informed the contact that the failure could be related to loosened battery cables. Additionally, the vehicle was test-driven, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The contact stated that the failure recurred while driving and making a turn. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the power steering ecu assembly had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened; however, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 2,931.

Doors fill up with rain water and water is sloshing around inside door frame. Need doors replaced due to electrical components being damaged by moisture corrosion.

68 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 09/15/2022

The wiring inside of the front doors became corroded on two different cars. This resulted in the inability to operate the electric windows of one car. I view this as a safety hazard as the ability to exit the car from the window in an emergency is impaired. Other tasks such as paying tolls is made risky as the door must be opened.
