I stopped on a slow going traffic on a highway. Suddenly, a Ford explorer hit me on the back trunk and rear glass damaged suddenly and pushed my car to hit the car in front of me. It damaged the front badly. If I have passengers in the back, it will hurt them badly or sudden death because of the back is not strong which cause the glasses to break and bend the trunk and sun roof. The air bag did not pop up. It is not safe!! my head, neck, back, spinal cord were painful. There were no damage on the Ford explorer. Toyota was easily damage and rolled/pushed to the front car. Please tested the back/trunk/bumper/airbag. Recently about 5 months ago, my 2006 Corolla was hit behind from a Honda accord that was going 5mph after making a stop at a stoplight. My car was badly damaged at the bumper and head lights, while the other car was hardly damaged. This is the 3rd accidents in 4 month with Corolla body parts. After these accidents, I do not want to own another Toyota!! I'm scared for my life.

This car only has 65,000 miles on it and has hardly been driven given the fact that it is 4 years old. I heard a loud rattling noise and took it to a mechanic. He told me that a bolt came off the heat shield by the gas tank. I'm surprised that such a lightly driven car could already have such expensive problems. . Read more...

Vehicle steering has poor on-center feel. When vehicle is driven over 30 mph, the wheel can be turned an inch right or left of center and it will not return. This results in additional driver fatigue from steering corrections to overcome the dead spot near center. Bright colored and chrome trim panels near gear shift console cause distracting glare under bright sunny conditions.
(1) 2012 Toyota Corolla, 4 doors,4 cylinder. When you drive the car at a speed of 65 mph or higher the car's steering wheel always steer to the left side and you always have to handle firmly all the time. (2) when you roll the rear window all the way down, the back window, doesn't matter which one, you will get a loud vibration and this will hurt your ear drums or even can damage the ear drums.

The steering is terrible. Every time I get onto the highway, I have to hold on to the steering wheel very hard with both hands to feel safe. I am always worried about hitting the car next to. The car swerves constantly, and is very hard to control. I can not believe that a relatively new car such as this can not stay straight on the road. It feels as if it were extremely windy outside making the car shake left and right. I have always trusted Toyota and thought that they sold nothing but the best. I have lost the joy and excitement in driving. Please correct this dangerous issue. Blind spots are also a major safety issue I have found. Also, there is an extremely annoying rattle inside the car. It sounds like it is coming from the ceiling, and from the rear windshield. It is noticeable at all speeds.
My daughter had a frontal collision while driving through an intersection at approximately 30 mph. Our 2008 Toyota corrolla s struck another vehicle on its front left fender. Our 2008 corrolla sustained major frontal damages, including the disintegration of the bumper, damage to the hood, both fenders, radiator, etc. The front stabilizer bar was ripped off the chassis. During the impact, the seat belts locked, however, the front air bags never deployed!! the car was taken back to east coast Toyota, rt. 17, wood-ridge, NJ where the car was purchased on Feb. 22, 2011 as a "certified used vehicle. " we complained about the faulty air bags & that they did not deploy in a frontal crash of 30 mph. The gm of the dealership & gm of the service department kept the vehicle for inspection & to have a Toyota corp. Rep. Look at the car to determine why the front air bags did not deploy. The dealership attempted to tell us that the airbags should only deploy during a front impact, but the car did in fact sustain heavy damages do to the impact but the airbags did not deploy. The impact was so great that the steel stabilizer bar was completely ripped off. That alone should have triggered the airbags to deploy. The car is currently not drivable due to the numerous damage sustained to the front end, motor, radiator & other parts. We are waiting to hear from the dealer, my insurance adjuster & Toyota to find out why this important safety feature did not work as it was designed to.

Check engine light came on 11/14/10 and car started slam shifting, and died on freeway. The car started again, and I took it to xx in moreno valley next day. Dealer said faulty ecu (dtc p2716) and the part must be ordered. I asked if they could provide a loaner car because I don't feel safe driving the car with a faulty ecm. I was told part will most likely be in Tuesday or Wednesday. The dealer said a loaner car would not be provided unless the car totally stop operating. I live in san bernardino and work in moreno valley, approx 26 miles one way. I have aaa towing basic for 6 miles. I would usually purchase aaa southern CA automobile club towing for up to 100 miles, but because I bought a new reliable Toyota, I just got the basic towing in case the battery died. I don't have towing to get the car to moreno valley in case it completely stops running. I'm worried about safety and logistics! I don't trust this Toyota Corolla. Dealer will not keep the car and give me a loaner until the part arrives. Will Toyota be responsible if this car stalls again in traffic and causes an accident? will Toyota be responsible if this car needs to be towed to the dealer? will Toyota be responsible if the transmission becomes damaged from the hard shifting? will Toyota be responsible if the car catches fire from faulty electrical wiring? this Corolla has had brake and steering problems. Brake fluid always low, although brakes verified as repaired and okay by technician. The wheel bearing on the front driver's side wheel is going bad and the tire will not hold air. The tire has been examined and is good. I smell electrical burning once in awhile. The belt tensioner pulley bearing bad. Occasionally, smell antifreeze, which indicates a leaking head gasket. Wind noise, windows creak when moved up/down. The locks squeak. The interior rattles. The paint job is runny, weld points are sloppy. Car stalling, slam shifting, then cutting off. The car has a little over 50,000 miles.
The contact owns a 2003 Toyota Corolla. The contact started the ignition and the check engine warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. The warning indicator remained illuminated until the engine was turned off. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. The technician informed that rodents had chewed through the fuel tank line. The vehicle was repaired with the replacement of the fuel tank line. The failure mileage was 39,097. Updated 03/08/11.
The contact owns a 2009 Toyota Corolla. The contact noticed water on the floor of the driver side area which causing the carpet to mildew. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who could not find the cause of the failure; the dealer cleaned the carpet. The current and failure mileages were approximately 28,000.
The contact owns a 2010 Toyota Corolla. The contact was driving 60 mph when he lowered the rear power windows. The vehicle began to shake violently. The contact was unable to see out of the rearview mirror because of the hard vibration. The failure worsened as the contact increased speed. In addition, the failure would cause the keyless remote sensor to fail. The contact test drove another 2010 Toyota Corolla to determine if the failure was limited to his vehicle. The vehicle exhibited the exact same failure. The dealer was in the vehicle with the contact and stated that he had never seen the failure before then. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 5,000.
The automatic gear select cover is chrome in the s model Toyota Corolla and during noontime hours when the sun is high, the cover reflects the sunlight and reflects into the eyes. At 1:00pm, the sun was reflecting off of the chrome cover. As I attempted to cover it with a paper bag, my foot came off of the brake pedal and the creep of the vehicle caused a collision with the vehicle in front at a stop sign. This is the second time such an accident has occurred. The first time was also during the summer at 1:15pm 2 years ago when I attempted to cover the glare with my backpack. Since that incident, I have always brought a hat that I use to cover the chrome gear select cover. On this day, however, I had forgot to bring my hat which would have prevented the glare shining directly into the eyes. The chrome gear select cover is a safety hazard that causes distractions and visibility issues.

The interior door handles of the 2003 Corolla s have chrome plating that peels with normal use. The peeling chrome is sharp and has caused laceration injury to those using the handles. The handles need to be replaced which requires taking the door apart. My rear door handles were replaced in 2006 at my expense and now both front door handles need replacing immediately so as to avoid further injury. This is a manufacturer defect and the consumer should not need to pay.
The contact owns a 2010 Toyota Corolla. While driving approximately 5 mph through a car wash, the contact noticed that water was leaking through the sunroof area. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who could not diagnose the failure. The failure recurred; therefore, the contact took the vehicle back to the dealer. The dealer restated that there were no failures but instructed the contact to hand wash the vehicle instead of taking it through a car wash; the dealer also stated that the failure occurred on twelve 12-15 vehicles out of 20. The failure continued to occur. The failure mileage was 2,501. The current mileage was approximately 4,000.
I heard rattling which I thought was from my trunk. After several attempts to locate the rattle, I discovered that it was my back window. There is a seal failure and you can literally lift the rear window in my 2008 Toyota Corolla. The Toyota dealership tells me they have never seen anything like this before. The car had approximately 50,000 miles when I first noticed the problem. The dealership tells me that I shouldn't wait to get this repaired. However, the dealership also said they would repair the seal, but I have to pay for the part that goes around the rear window and that my 100,000 extended warranty will not cover this. Unfortunately, that part does not go all the way around the rear window, leaves the bottom of the window exposed and thus the possibility for this to occur on all of these vehicles as well as reoccur on this one. I have taken pictures of this. I don't understand why I should pay for anything since this is not a wear and tear issue. It is defective!.
Sorry, this might sound trite given all of the seriousness with the Toyota gas pedal problems. But I feel it needs to be documented. We purchased a 2009 Toyota Corolla. What I noticed about the gas pedal is that it doesn't press very smoothly, you have to baby it, or you get a jack rabbit start. But that is not why I am writing. We get mice in the car on a regular basis. There are apparently gaps that allow for mice to get in. They chew on things, eat food and pee. It doesn't seem like there should be gaps big enough to allow this type of access. I looked below and there is a lot of gap space between the boot around the steering shaft. Again I know this sounds trivial. But if a mouse can get in, so can other creatures. . . A snake? imagine driving down the road and having some critter appear and scare the daylights out of you. Anyway, that is all. I just felt it should be reported.
2010 Toyota Corolla, steering problems. Car feels like it is out of alignment when traveling at highway speeds and veers sharply when braking, at any speed, or if car goes over a bump in the road, at any speed. Intermittent rattling noise coming from steering column. Have taken car to dealership 6 times but am told they cannot duplicate the problem. Problem is continuous. . Also intermittent rattling noise coming from front drivers wheel area when traveling on rough roads and when braking. Toyota dealership also cannot duplicate the problem. Steering problems began as soon as I purchased the car and have continued ever since. Underbody rattle began Jan 1, 2010 and is intermittent. Car does not feel safe when driving at highway speeds. . Am told by Toyota that car is perfectly safe to drive. . . I am not convinced.
The glass door stack and broken also damaged the regulator Toyota said they only cover the bolts.

2010 Toyota Corolla - trunk falling on my head as I tried to take out groceries from the trunk. It has happened 4 times; 2 times for me, once on my daughter and once on my son. When you open the trunk, it does not stay open especially if the car is on an incline. Even on flat surface, it has the tendency to close/shut.
The contact owns a 2009 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated that she cannot open a rear window and have the front window closed because the vehicle would vibrate drastically. She took her vehicle back to the dealer, but they could not repair it because it was an aerodynamic issue. Currently, the contact must keep her windows closed while driving until Toyota can remedy the issue. The failure mileage was 1,700. Updated 08/19/09 the consumer stated if the driver's window is up, and someone in the back seat opens a window, the entire vehicle shakes. Updated 08/20/09.
Toyota Corolla 2005 : both front window glass (driver and passenger) has come loose from the holding bracket. It could be dangerous if the glass come off while driving and broke, fortunately for me it did not happen. It happened to both my glasses in 2 different incidents which made me believe that there is a defect in manufacturing and need to be fixed by them or at least this 2005 cars needs to be included in the recall that is available for 2004-corolla cars (see below link for details). This is very similar to what is described in following, but have not included in the same recall. . Read more...

The contact owns a 2009 Toyota Corolla. Every time the contact enters her vehicle, she strikes the left side of her head on the door jam and hook. The vehicle has not been inspected by the dealer. The contact called the manufacturer and was informed to attempt to recline the seat. The contact feels that this is a safety defect because she could be seriously injured in the event of a rollover crash, due to her head being so close to the door. The failure mileage was 2,000 and current mileage was 8,000. Updated 07/02/09.
My husband and I purchased the 2009 Corolla s in April 2008. . . Months later the side panel on the passenger side below the seat belt and side air bag popped off the vehicle it appears the plastic piece that holds it on is broke. Also, the passenger door made a funny noise everytime I open it. I examined it and it appears the bolts holding on the door is coming loose. I keep tightening it but still comes loose. Another problem we have had is the fuse for the cigarette lighters keep blowing and need replaced. Even though these are only minor issues it still is a hassle for a brand new car. . .
The contact owns a 2001 Toyota Corolla. While driving 55 mph, the front hood of the vehicle released, blocking the contact's view of the highway. The hood smashed against the windshield, which caused it to bend out of shape and become destroyed. The contact pulled over and stopped the vehicle. The windshield was cracked and the roof above the windshield was also damaged. The vehicle was no longer under warranty and the dealer stated that the contact was responsible for the repair costs. The failure and current mileages were 119,170.

Attached is letter submitted to Toyota 7/22/08 I recently purchased a new 2009 Toyota Corolla from west herr Toyota, orchard park, new york on may 16, 2008. I immediately took a road trip from NY to PA, approximately 6 hours of driving. I am writing to you today to report my dissatisfaction with the front headrests in the Toyota Corolla. I am an exercise physiologist and have worked many years in the industrial rehabilitation field. I have a previous neck injury from years of doing gymnastics. The current front seat headrests are angled at 35% forward flexion, which may be positive in a crash test to prevent neck injuries, however, it is not conducive for comfortable driving and proper ergonomic for seated positions. By the time I arrived to my final destination in york, PA, my entire right arm was numb and aching. I brought this situation to the attention of my salesman at Toyota (bill bitterman) he suggested that I contact your department directly. He also tried to replace the headrests with an older Corolla headrest, they do not fit into the anchor holes of the seat. Since then, I took the smaller back seat headrest and moved it forward to the drivers seat. It is more comfortable than the previous headrest, but it is looks awkward and is not safe. Also, I moved the front headrest to the back, it is too large and causes visibility issues. My request of you is to? #1. Consider changing your design for the headrests so they do not forward flex at such a great angle to avoid many additional customer complaints in the future. #2. Send two new front headrests for the front seats (gray interior) that fit appropriately and at no charge to me. I am aware of how powerful the ?voice of the customer? is and I hope that you take this letter of concern seriously. I truly do like all aspects of this car, except the front two headrests. Shawna r. Dosser, ms exercise physiologist & health educator.
I purchased a brand new Toyota Corolla 2009. Since the date the car was taken from the dealer, the passenger seat keeps sinking lower without touching anything. This causes the mirrors to get out of focus since the position of the driver's seat changes, causing a hazard when emergent lane changing is required. I have taken the car to the dealer over six times. They deny there is a problem and have not taken care of the problem.
The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated that water penetrated the glove compartment area, causing the passenger section carpet to become saturated and the instrumental panel to become foggy. The vehicle was taken to the dealer numerous times for the failure. The dealer examined the vehicle but was unable to locate the area where the water had entered and penetrated the clove compartment. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 4,000 and the current mileage was 19,800. Updated 05/04/11 updated 05/11/11.
