Metal debri can fly if the airbag is deployed. I have a 10 month old that rides in the back seat and am afraid the debri will reach her as well. 3 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2007 Toyota Matrix

Failure Date: 10/18/2016

I have received a mailer from Toyota telling me to "call today" to 1-888-312-5994, for resolution to the takata airbag inflator recall. I have called numerous times but experience extremely long hold times, to the point where I eventually decide to try again sometime. This is very frustrating, as it does not seem that Toyota is committed enough to employ even basic staffing to help me set up an appointment to resolve the issue. I will keep trying.

4 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2004 Toyota Matrix

Failure Date: 09/29/2016

Takata recall. I was told by a local portland, or Toyota dealer that the replacement parts for the takata inflator recall are back-ordered for an indefinite 6-12 month period and warned that it could possibly take even longer. Toyota corporate customer service confirmed that timeline by speaking with a different portland, or Toyota dealer. Toyota further informed me that I cannot have a passenger in the front seat until the takata inflator has been replaced. Toyota has been very upfront and helpful in attempting to resolve this issue, which is commendable, but I'm filing this vehicle safety complaint because 6-12 months for a safety recall repair does not qualify for being done in a "timely manner" and not being able to have a passenger in the front seat for up to a year will be very difficult and problematic. To be clear, the passenger airbag in my vehicle has not deployed.

5 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2009 Toyota Matrix

Failure Date: 08/01/2016

Takata recall--I received a front passenger airbag inflator notice back in August 2016 and called immediately to have this repaired. Beaman pontiac said they would call when the part was in. I called back in January of 2017 and they said the part was still not in. Today 8/16/17 the part is still not in. This is unacceptable. In January they gave me a rental and I still have it. I would like my car back. But I don't want the liability of someone riding in my car or me in it with my husband driving being killed and Toyota not responsible since I received this notice.

8 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2008 Toyota Matrix

Failure Date: 05/31/2016

"takata recall"? undated letter from Toyota in may 2016 advised vehicle subject to recall because of defective air bag inflators. Undated letter from Toyota later in may 2016 advised that parts preparation completed for our area and to schedule repair with dealer. On 06 June 2016 dealer inspected vehicle and advised that parts not available and had been ordered. On 14 June, 19 July, & 29 July checked with dealer & parts still not available. On 24 June & 24 August called Toyota customer experience center to complain that parts not available although advised by Toyota in may that they were. Told it was a major problem and they were doing the best they could. Problem(s): Toyota lied about the availability of parts; no one is to use passenger front seat of car until repaired(upset wife); ready to sell/trade car but don't want to endanger someone else; feel that Toyota is releasing parts to higher priority customers e. G. New car sale customers. Toyota needs to track parts for our vehicle and get it repaired now!.

10 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2005 Toyota Matrix

Failure Date: 04/20/2016

Takata recall - I received a letter several months ago informing me my Matrix was recalled for the air bag inflators. I was told I'd be contacted when the parts were available. After hearing nothing, I went to Toyota's website. It says the part should have been available in my area starting in Dec. 2015. I contacted my local dealer , & they told me they couldn't do the repair until the end of Aug. 2016. It will have been about a year & a half since I was informed of the recall - this is a totally unacceptable amount of time. Meanwhile, they suggest no one ride in the passenger seat until the repair is complete. Toyota is doing a terrible job with this whole thing.

12 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2004 Toyota Matrix

Failure Date: 01/20/2016

I took my car to the Toyota dealer to fix the airbag recall on 8/31/2015 and 1/20/2016. After fixing the air bag, I hear some kind of noise coming from the passenger side dash board next to air bag. I mentioned it to the dealer and have them look at it but they mentioned its nothing. I still have that noise coming out from there. I;m worried. Looks like they didnt replace the airbag inflator properly.

15 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2005 Toyota Matrix

Failure Date: 08/17/2015

I received a recall notice for passenger air bag inflators which may be defective when in contact with moisture. I received this notice 8/15/15 but the date of the recall on the website is 6/15/15 - a difference of 2 months! I called the Toyota recall hotline and was informed that there is no remedy for my location, even though I informed the representative that my car was purchased used and came from a beach area in southern California - a humid and moist area. I was informed that there is no estimated date when parts will be available in my location but to not allow passengers in the front seat. This is certainly not reasonable and very inconvenient. It is ridiculous to have a recall and not have prepared by ordering necessary parts. I am extremely dissatisfied with the "Toyota experience" and am more than peeved that I have to wait for who knows how long to fix the situation. Until then, what do I do? I use my car for work and frequently drive clients, friends and relatives to various locations.

17 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2005 Toyota Matrix

Failure Date: 06/16/2015

We received a notice in June regarding a recall of our family vehicle (Toyota corolla Matrix 2005) for a defect related to the airbags. According to the statement, it has to do with the air bag inflators and, depending on circumstance, could rupture and cause metal fragments to pass through the air bag cushioned material resulting in injury or death. We were told that until a remedy because available in our location to have no one ride in the passenger front seat. That was three months ago. I just looked up the status and there is still no remedy available in our area. This is not a minor issue. It's caused undue stress and inconvenience throughout the entire summer. We have a baby on the way and are concerned that there is still no remedy in place, and we feel a solution has not been provided in a reasonable amount of time. We plan on calling Toyota during normal business hours to see if there is any way we can fix the issue ourselves and then submit for a reimbursement. Simply telling customers to have no one ride in the front passenger seat and not provide any additional information--such as when we can expect parts to become available--is poor customer service. Plus, if we have to address the issue ourselves, it will cause unnecessary strain on our already tight budget.

18 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2005 Toyota Matrix

Failure Date: 06/01/2015

Takata recall: in June 2015 I received this notice of a safety recall due to the airbag inflators possibly being manufactured in such a way as to where they could retain moisture which could rupture and cause serious injury or death. I am advised to not let anyone sit in the passenger seat till it is fixed. It has been six months! this is way way beyond a reasonable amount of time to have this fixed. Horrible customer service Toyota! I am the care taker of my elderly parents and drive them on errands and to appts ect. I also care for my grand daughter. And carpool to school. This has been a hugh burden on me. For the record my air bag light is always on, and my clock and stereo keep resetting. The passenger airbag constantly blinks and the no seat belt sign blinks and beeps as if someone was sitting there with out a seatbelt. You are unprepared to fix this situation, and I find this unacceptable. Everytime I get in my car, I am worried they could deflate and injure or kill myself or my parents or granddaughter. Unfortunately I have no choice but to use my vehicle as it is the only one I have. You may contact me ASAP regarding a rental car until this is resolved. I am no longer putting my life at risk because you are unprepared ! I will be filing a complaint with the bbb as soon as I am done with this, and will contact an attorney if need be. Awaiting your prompt reply regards, linda.

21 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2004 Toyota Matrix

Failure Date: 01/01/2015

Recieved a recall in the mail stating front passenger airbag inflator module is defective. Report to you nearest dealer to have part replaced. When I did they said they have not recieved the part to replace. Waiting until they recieve the part from Toyota main branch. Meanwhile in the safet notice for recall it specifically states do not operate vehicle with occupants in the front passenger seat. This vehicle is used for picking people up to be transported to appointments. How long can this be an inconvenance on not allowing anyone in the front seat. When asked how long will this take. I get no response for an answer on how long before parts will be shipped out to local dealerships. This is ridiculous to make a consumer wait for such a long period of time without any conclusion on how long to get a part. The last time I checked next day air was availalble anywhere in the world so what is the real problem with this recall. This is costing me money for not allowing anyone in this vehicles seat. I would appreciate a response or a deadline on when this can be resolved. Thanks hearing me on this issue.

22 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2003 Toyota Matrix

Failure Date: 10/31/2014

There has been a recall on the front passenger airbag inflator module. Despite several notices and a federal reminder to have this fixed as a customer, Toyota as a company has no remedy as of yet. All paperwork states "any authorized Toyota dealer can inspect and, if necessary, replace the airbag inflator module. . . Please contact any authorized Toyota dealer dealer to schedule an appointment to have the remedy performed as soon as possible. " after making this appointment and leaving my car overnight, I was told there was no remedy available. After calling Toyota, they said that at this time the only solution is to not allow a passenger to ride in your car. This defeats the purpose of a car. If you have notated an issue and want to alert the public and have us all take time off to have the issues fixed, then why wasn't there a "fix" in place. It seems as though they can replace the entire airbag inflator module to fix the problem, but they are not wanting to take on that cost, which puts me and my family/friends in danger. This is ultimately frustrating, inconvenient, and dangerous. This is an extremely libelous situation.

23 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2003 Toyota Matrix

Failure Date: 10/04/2014

The air bag warning light came on dash and I was told the driver side air bag had to be replaced. I had to pay $1196. 69 because it was not under a recall even though I had 3 other recalls which included the passenger air bag inflator, air bag wire harness and the center air bag sensor assembly. So with all the safety recalls on the passenger side air bag system, I do not understand why the driver air bag is not covered on any safety recall? I really think this should be covered under a safety recall since I was told by the rep at the Toyota dealer the air bag will not work when this air bag warning light is on.

24 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2003 Toyota Matrix

Failure Date: 10/04/2014

I want you to be aware of this email below I just sent to Toyota with a safety complainant. "hello customer service rep, I am contacting you regarding the air system on my Matrix and I had many recalls/ repairs during the last few years first replacing the air harness in March of 2013. Then replacing the passenger air bag inflator in August 2014 and then replacing the driver side bag in early October 2014. Last replacing the center airbag senor assembly in mid October 2014. All these items were covered under safety recalls except the driver side airbag which cost me $1196. 69 which I was told it had to be replaced because it was inoperative. I think this should be covered under a safety recall and you give me a refund of $1196. 69 so could you tell me why this is not under a safety recall? thank you, woody marchionna".

25 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2003 Toyota Matrix

Failure Date: 06/01/2014

I can not get a straight answer from Toyota, both my local dealer and the corporate office regarding a passenger air bag recall (front passenger airbag inflator module). It's been almost a full year, and no one can tell me when this repair will be done. The last letter I received (Feb. 3, 2015) from Toyota, said they are working on states with high humidity first. Their solution, is not to drive the vehicle and use public transportation, and rent a vehicle. This is not a solution. I live in massachusetts, and it gets pretty humid during the summer months. I think Toyota thinks the longer they wait the fewer recalls they will have to perform as the vehicles are getting older and older.
