This safety problem pertains to all vehicles sold in the u. S. , not only my make and model. I was horrified to learn that the crash ratings are inaccurate for most women and all short people, because they were developed only for average sized men. It should be no surprise that when collisions occur, more women than men are seriously injured. More women than men are injured when air bags deploy. More women than men are injured by their shoulder belts. I am afraid to purchase a new car, because the crash ratings that I have relied on in the past are unreliable for me as a short woman. I am very disappointed that my own government, to which I pay taxes, has been so misleading to the public on important safety issues. Please develop and implement collision ratings for various height groups. In the meantime, please include notices with crash ratings that explain which height ranges the ratings are most accurate for.

The contact's client owned a 2005 Toyota Matrix. Upon investigation, the contact discovered that the vehicle was currently under NHTSA campaign number: 18v025000(air bags) which she linked to the failure. These 3 things may be related to each other because they all are connected to the steering wheel. My car can be scheduled for an inspection regarding these safety problems. 1. The airbag warning light is sometimes on when I drive the car. I'm worried it won't work if I'm in a wreck. 2. The horn doesn't work when I press on the part of the steering wheel that should make it work. It does make a loud sound when I press the panic button on my key fob, but only when the car is turned off. I had to stick my head out of the window and yell at a driver who was getting close to hitting my car in a parking lot. I was parked, and they were backing out of their parking stall. They stopped inches away from my car. 3. The cruise control does not work in the car. I think by using this feature, and maintaining a steady speed, it reduces the chances of accidents. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? see answers #1, 2 and 3 above. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed? #1. No. A dealer told me it would cost me $100 to have them check the airbag light. #2. The horn was checked by an independent service center. #3. No. Has it been inspected? #1. This car has been serviced two different times for recalls for the airbag not working correctly. I wonder if the horn and cruise control wires were damaged, or not put back together correctly, when the recall work was being done, while owned by my sister-in-law. #2. No. #3. No. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? #1. The warning lamp for the airbag started coming on around August 15, 2024. #2. No. It didn't work on February 11, 2023 - when I bought the car. #3. No. It didn't work on February 11, 2023.

The contact owned a 2004 Toyota Matrix. The contact received recall notices on NHTSA campaigns: 08v162000 (visibility); NHTSA campaigns: 15v043000 (air bags); NHTSA campaign: 15v285000 (air bags) wanted to be removed from the safer car recall email list. The vehicle was scrapped several years ago.
I took my vehicle for the airbag recall. When the technician gave me my car back I noticed the airbag warning light was still on. The technician said the warning airbag light is something else but he could not say what. Please add additional recalls to fix passenger airbag. But he said “the light was on before the recall” and I would have to pay to find out what the warning is for. I waited 2 hours for the recall work to be finished and when I entered my car the warning light was still on. This vehicle has not been in an accident. This situation I read in the reviews online is happening to this car and many complaints. I feel unsafe and I think all possible recalls should be put in place for this to be taken care of by Toyota. It is dangerous and it is a liability. Please help me get this resolved with autonation Toyota in winter park. 407-415-5688 thank you.
I have been waiting over 2 years for this passenger side airbag recall to be remedied. I was told a remedy was available about a year and a half ago, but despite many calls and service appointments where I left the car with Toyota (they even kept my car for nearly 9 hours once), they always tell me they don't have the part available and that they will call me when it becomes available (they still haven't). I tried multiple Toyota service centers in my area with the same results. The airbag was already recalled previously and the remedy was to replace it with an airbag part that was also recalled, so in actuality it has probably been over 5 years since the original recall and after all this time my car still has an airbag inflator that may cause fire, injury or death. I paid for a car so I could use all of the available seating, and for most of my time owning it and for the foreseeable future I'm being told by Toyota not to use the front passenger seat. Totally unacceptable, regardless of parts shortage this shouldn't be a problem to bear solely by the vehicle owner, I have never been offered a loaner or anything to make up for the money I wasted on a car I can't use as advertised.

Tl- the contact's girlfriend owns a 2006 Toyota Matrix. The contact stated that while his girlfriend was driving 25 mph, her vehicle was hit by another motorist at a low rate of speed. Despite minimal impact, the passenger airbag deployed without an occupant in the seat. Due to the shock of the airbag deployment, the contact's girlfriend jerked the wheel and her back passenger tire had hit a curb. A police report was filed and the contact's girlfriend was able to drive the vehicle home. The next day, his girlfriend was treated at a hospital for injuries to her neck and right arm. The contact then called the manufacturer who informed him that there was a recall on the vehicle for NHTSA campaign number: 19v627000(air bags). An appointment was made at pohanka Toyota of salisbury(2010 n salisbury blvd, salisbury, MD 21801) where an inspector was sent to the dealer to inspect the air bag. After the inspection, the contact was informed to pick up the vehicle and was also informed that no repairs would be made to the vehicle until the investigation was settled. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was 282,699. Jo.
Received recall notice from Toyota. Called local dealership where purchased - they took info and stated they would get parts and call to schedule. They never called back. We called Toyota customer experience center to inform we were not getting our recall service. They stated they would contact the dealership to have them call within one business day to initiate service. No one called. I called Toyota again, they put me on hold and after 12 minutes on hold I gave up. Toyota is not following through on this recall service which is a deadly condition.
I've been calling and nobody's answering and nobody's calling back.
I appreciate that Toyota younger fixed the airbag recall. I would have appreciate if they would have wiped down the dash board after installing. I also noticed the panel over the airbag has a buckle/crease and it does not look secure around the edges. I have attached images . It never looked like before a dropped off my car.
I continue to receive notices for an airbag recall on a vehicle I haven't owned in two years. Please stop emailing me recall notices. I have attached a receipt I received when I had the car scrapped.
Their is an airbag recall that has been outstanding for some time but has not yet been remedied.
I have already had my Matrix recalled for airbags and "fixed" - now another recall. The position taken by Toyota is it will be fixed soon. I know it's been over a year soon for this 2nd recall and Toyota's approach is not to let anyone ride in the passenger seat! really!! I should have the right to use my own car!! I think I should be able to get my money back or at least a portion of it back. Toyota has put greed before the consumer. I want something down and done now! I am tired of waiting for something to be down about this. I will not buy another Toyota. I was upset by the first recall and having to take time away from my home and job to have it fixed and now to have another recall and am told not to let anyone sit in the passenger seat!.

I just spoke with Toyota regarding the remedy for the airbag recall problem. I was informed that I will be receiving a letter soon that states that they still don't have a remedy for this problem. How long can they get away with potentially endangering my passenger by not repairing this problem?.
Toyota issued a recall for the front passenger airbag August 28, 2019. However, they still have not provided a remedy or timeline for a remedy, over 5 months later. Toyota refuses to provide more information when I contacted them. This is an unacceptable amount of time to be unable to use my front passenger seat.
