My airbag light came on and I received a letter saying there was a recall but unfortunately I threw out the letter and when I called Toyota said there was a recall but it was fixed in 2012 when I didn’t own the vehicle and it seems like it didn’t last long because my airbags are not working so this will be the last time I buy a Toyota!! thanks for nothing.

I was in a car accident and the side and steering airbags deployed. While the main steering airbag deflated successfully following the accident, the driver's side door side airbag never deflated. Once I was trying to get out of the car and had the door open, this meant it was much harder and took longer to get out as I had to slide out from underneath it. Because I wasn't able to get out quickly, I remained in a car in direct line of traffic with my driver's side door where it would have been hit first putting me in more danger.

I was in a car accident that ended up being a total loss for my vehicle. I was hit head on to the front drivers side and none of my airbags went off. I am aware there was a recall for the passenger airbags, and was actually scheduled to get the repair the following week, but the drivers side airbags are not included in the recall. After the collision I received an error message on my display that advised there was an airbag malfunction and to contact my Toyota dealer. Thankfully I did not sustain any known injuries, however I am pregnant and none of my airbags went off appropriately.

We were traveling across country from michigan to arizona. We were 50 miles outside tucson, az on [xxx]. Traveling 80 mph in a 75 mph zone, in passing lane and felt like car exploded and all airbags deployed and we came to a quick stop. No major injuries to either of us. One vehicle incident, did not collide with anything or hit any debris. It was a clear day, road conditions good, no noises, lights etc. My husband was able to keep from rolling and we came to a stop with many semi's etc flying by, very scary. When we were able to safely get out and call 911, there was significant drivers side front end damage around tire area and inside near axle. Looked like something broke inside car, sheered off bottom of tire. Police arrived and had to push vehicle on to shoulder of road. He assessed scene and thought it had to be a mechanicla failure as there was no other vehicle or debris on site. We did contact our insurance company and subsequently it was totaled. We also have Toyota investigating what the cause was if it was a faulty part or mechanical failure. We have not heard back but did receive the "recording of time of crash". I have a short video of damage but I'm unable to attach it. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

My wife was going at about 10 - 15 mph coming up about 2 car lengths to a small curve in a residential area when all of a sudden she heard a pop or snap and the Rav4 went to a super high speed by itself. The acceleration could not be stopped even though she had her feet on the brakes. She had both hands on the steering wheel to avoid hitting a house and ended up going through a wall in the yard. There were no warning sounds and no signals indicating a problem. It appeared that the display was blank. There was no pre-collision warning or braking except as my wife was pushing on the brakes. She also hit the right side into side wall. No air bags deployed even though windshield and all door glass on sides shattered. My wife the driver was okay and not hurt, and the grandchild in the car seat behind my wife was fine also. Neither had injuries. There were checked by emt. The police looked but all would not try to get in except to remove my granddaughter. My wife was removed also because she could not get out the door was jammed against shed and rock, and handles broken off this happened after the recall work was done by Toyota dealer on 12/04/2025. There were no problems prior to the recall. I've listed the recall below. 25td01 rear traction motor cable corrosion - multiple model & model year Toyota hybrid (awd) vehicles NHTSA recall id awaiting# recall date dealer reference id 25td01 description the subject vehicles are equipped with a rear motor unit and an hv floor under wire that provide high voltage to operate the motor. Excessive corrosion could cause am radio static during certain driving cycles, or the vehicle may not start. Status remedy available remedy any authorized Toyota dealer will apply a wire harness protector seal to the hv floor under wire connector. Toyota corporate engagement is looking into this.
The contact owns a 2021 Toyota Rav4. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 23v865000 (air bags); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted several times. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact stated that the front passenger's side seat had not been used since the recall notification was received. The contact had not experienced a failure.
The vehicle is affected by Toyota safety recall 23ta15 / 23tb15 (NHTSA 23v865) involving the front passenger occupant classification system sensor. The recall notice states that the sensor may have been improperly manufactured, which could prevent the passenger airbag from deploying in a crash. As of 2025, the manufacturer continues to list the remedy as “not available,” far past the originally estimated timeline of quarter 3 2024. This means the safety defect cannot be repaired, and passengers may be at risk if the airbag fails to deploy. The issue has been confirmed through Toyota’s recall lookup and dealer inquiries. No warning lights are present, so there is no way for the driver to know if the sensor is malfunctioning. The manufacturer has not provided parts, an inspection, or an interim repair. I am filing this complaint because the prolonged delay leaves the vehicle with an unresolved safety defect.
The contact owns a 2021 Toyota Rav4. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 23v865000 (air bags ) and would like to be removed from the recall distribution list. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted.
During a head-on collision with a tree, the vehicle sustained major front-end damage and the airbag deployed, resulting in a cracked sternum, three fractured ribs, and a three-day hospitalization. No warning lights or prior symptoms were present, and the incident has not been reproduced or confirmed by a service center. The vehicle is currently held at the insurance-approved collision facility and remains available for inspection. Law enforcement and insurance representatives have reviewed the vehicle, but no manufacturer evaluation has occurred. Given the severity of the injuries and absence of prior indicators, I believe further investigation is necessary to determine whether a safety-related malfunction occurred and to help prevent potential risk of death to other drivers.

Other people keep using my bluetooth from my Toyota Rav4 2007. I don't even use it anymore. I found out because my android vehicle app keeps activating. Also, I live in a apartment complex, and notice when I look out my window, people walk by and slow down and stop right in front of my car and start messing with their phone. It appears they are hacking into the bluetooth. I've also had much financial theft from my bank account. . Including I paid for my auto insurance months ago, now I go on the az mdv and it's saying that my car is not insured! I'm a domestic violence victim. . Its causing safety issues for me. . I'm really upset. Also, your website is saying it's September 8, 2025. My phone is saying it's September 7th 2025. I don't know what to do!?!? someone is causing me a lot of mental anquish. I know I have recalls on this car, it says I have nun on the Toyota site yet in other places it says I have recalls. I just feel extremely unsafe and angry that Toyota never sends me anything about my car.
