Air Bag Light On Problems of Toyota RAV4 - part 1

I noticed that the �pass air bag off� light was on even though a passenger was sitting in the front passenger seat. I took it to the Toyota dealership that diagnosed it. They said the sensor in the passenger seat belt buckle had gone bad and needed replacing. What bothers me is the fact that the airbag light on the instrument panel didn't come on to indicate that something was wrong. I am not sure how long I have driven with this malfunction since the light that indicates the air bag being on or off is off to the side and in yellow rather than red to show that something is wrong. I had to pay for the diagnosis and repair. This should have been covered by an extended warranty by the manufacturer. The car only had 67k miles, being 7 years old.

The air bag lights comes on and off from the dash all the time, I went to a dealership and they told me that there is nothing they cam do about it because the light wasn't on when I went there but I think they could at least take a look at it but they didn't care, it's a safety problem and they should be more careful with these kind of problem.

Air bag light is on all the time and seat bell is flashing and front rotors excessive rust and only about 2 1/2 inches in middle the rotors.

Airbag light has been on entire ownership along with seatbelt light flashing for passenger seatbelt. Whether buckled or unbuckled. Or even when nobody is in the front passenger seat. Constant issue whether stationary, in motion, and on highways/city streets.

I was driving on the west virginia turnpike when the airbag light came on. The bag didn't open, but it scared me. There is no shoulder on the turnpike to get over and there is lots of truckers. The technician replaced the original spiral cable with a spiral cable of the same design and advised that the recall would still need to be addressed. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and informed the contact that due to the work being performed during the interim notice they removed the contact's vehicle from the recall. The failure mileage was 86,330.

Any time I turn the steering wheel the air bag light used to come on and it would go on and off until recently it stays on it similar to the symptoms that is described in one of the recalls for Toyota NHTSA campaign number: 14v168000 I took to the dealership twice but this issue for some reason they only document one of the times and their service was not good I called Toyota and asked them if I am part of this NHTSA campaign number: 14v168000 recall and they said no and they were not willing to help me I am hopping that you guys could look into this issue for me pls.

When driving with air bags light on is completely unsafe and danger to everyone including driver. Toyota send out interim recall letters to owners of certain models and years including Rav4 2006 to Rav4 and asked to contact local Toyota dealer immediately in case of if air bag light illuminate or illuminated already. Meanwhile Toyota is making arrangement for remedy part ( d squib clock spiral cable ) for those qualified models to fix the airbag light. After I received a same interim notice, the air bag light came on. I called Toyota CO-operate office about the my recall notice I received by mail and told that suddenly my air bag light came on . Toyota ask me to take my car to the local Toyota dealer for diagnose which I did and their diagnose result came up with b1801 error ( d squib clock spring spiral cable faulty) which they updated to Toyota database and told me to wait till remedy is available for this fix. I called Toyota CO operate office again and they told me to wait till the part is available. It has been now 7 months and I haven't received any further notice nor any remedy yet. I called Toyota few times and finally they give me a wearied answer that my car is not on defective batch anymore and does not qualify for this airbag recall. My car VIN #, year, model everything showing clearly based on interim recall letter that is in that defective recall qualification group but some how Toyota is now playing game and telling me different story. They don't have any answer of who I do have the same faulty spiral cable defect like same exact others defective batch has. Toyota is the one who who send out interim notices to those qualified recall batch based on their VIN# and now after 8 months, they are denied that my car doesn't qualify for this recall fix?. ?? I like to have this investigate by NHTSA's before some one life gets at risk.

Driving down community street. Airbag light came on. Has stayed on continuously. Car has never been in any kind of accident. Toyota says my vehicle is not affected by their recall and will not cover any repairs.

We are still waiting and probably operating an unsafe vehicle. .

With out any cause the airbag light on at 55mpg these Rav4 never has front accident and never replace air bags . The service manger at pep boys said the computer analizer said a bad sensor and air bags not going to inflate if we has accident .

Airbag light came on 12/10/2013. Called dealer to make appointment. Dealer hooked up scan tool ($65. 00 for diagnosis) b1801 open in d squib. Diagnosed open in spiral cable. I declined repair since I did not have $ 511. 00 to spare. I know that Toyota recalled certain 2007 Rav4 units, but service tech said mine was not among them.

My air bags light came on a month ago. I found out that the clock spring sensor was bad. I thing this should be a recall because is a safety issue and can cause injuries or death of people.

Air bag light went on and after srs diagnosis test found clock spring bad. Estimated repair $522. 50.

Was parked at a rest stop, when I restarted the car, airbag light went on and has never turned off. Have not received a letter which was supposed to be sent in April, 2014 for the most recent recall.

After starting the car the air bag light did not off. It has continued to stay on when the car is running since oct. 19 2013. We have tried trouble shooting the problem with no success. When having recall repairs done at lewis Toyota in Dodge city, KS on 3/21/14 the repair manager was asked about the problem and gave no indication that Toyota was aware of the issue or that a recall was being issued. Toyota has stated they will send letters informing owners by late April. It is mid may and we have still received nothing.

Air bag indicator light on when car started. Multiple attempts to get indicator light off failed. Contacted dealer for appointment and was told that it could take all day to resolve the issue. But it appears this is frequent failure with Rav4's and I now question sales person reliability at dealer. Will update this after dealer appointment.

The airbag light came on and stayed on. Owner took car to dealer and was told that the spiral cable was defective. Also, the water pump is leaking. The Rav4 only has 86,000 miles. Owner has noticed there are multiple reported complaints on the airbag spiral cable defect. How many more "defects" have not been reported? this issue should be a recall. The repairs are very expensive. Owner used to think Toyota made a reliable car!!.
