There is a lot of electronic wires / connectors / side airbags and driver dash panel and they all get wet and appear they get corroded thus impairing function of the car and create danger or unexpected behavior of the car. The issue appears to be a pin that mounts the roof rails to the body of the car. Water will leak inside the car after rain or car wash. Left front input seal has leaked fluid twice now. First time was 9/25/2012 @ 56,516 miles. Second time was on 1/12/2016 @ 101,753 miles. My independent auto repair service, coram precision auto of coram, NY went to Toyota to get the seal needed to fix the leak both times and asked Toyota parts counter if they knew of a recall and they said no. Then they asked why they had so many seals in stock if there had been no recalls. I am on this website and don't see any recalls either but I wonder if any complaints have been filed. Note: I have several recalls for my Toyota Rav4 for gas pedal and now for the 'rear differential coupling' which extends my warrantee until 2017 from Toyota and from NHTSA for my drivers side air bag in 2014 but can't find anything on this wed site. Please follow up with me on the seal problem and if the airbag needs to be replaced. Toyota told me 'no" but I don't trust them. Thanks, wpziems 02/01/2016.

On 11/15/2011 I was driving my 2007 Toyota rav 4 and I ran over a wood on the roadway. My passenger curtain side airbag deployed almost causing me to lose control of my auto. I brought my auto to my insurance claim department ( travers) and I got a inspection and quoted a price of 2959. 98. My auto has no damage to it other then the airbag deployment. I got it fixed and a few days later I receive a letter from Toyota stating they have a recall on the curtain side airbag and that they were deploying because of the sensors. My insurance company has been trying to have Toyota accept responsible for this but Toyota says because I got it fixed before they could look it ,they will not accept responsible and I am out of luck. 19 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2007 Toyota RAV4

Failure Date: 08/29/2011

On August 29, 2011, 19 year-old subject was traveling straight across an intersection when subject was struck on driver side by a 2010 Hyundai elantra. Subject was struck by a motorist that according to police officer report, ran a red light. Subject was proceeding straight with green light while driving a white 2007 Toyota Rav4 with approximately 104,299 miles. Subject purchased Rav4 vehicle from Toyota in April of 2011. Subject purchased 2007 Rav4 on account of the airbag safety features (head, side, front, passenger side airbags) to protect subject from injury. On August 29, 2011, subject 2007 Rav4 sustained damage from rocker panel to roof and from front left bumper to doors. Structural, suspension, wheel, and steering components were also damaged as per the appraiser's damage estimate following the August 29, 2011 accident. No airbags deployed. A letter was sent to Toyota. Calls were made to Toyota to assess the damage and Toyota denied claims of any wrongdoing or defect. Subject was injured in accident. Toyota declined to inspect vehicle. Recent notices of recalls received along with Toyota sending emails to subject to try to purchase subject Rav4 lends credibility to subject assertion that airbags should have deployed and protected subject from injury during the August 29, 2011 incident. The airbag features failed subject and failed to protect subject from injury on August 29, 2011. 2007 Rav4 was declared a total loss by geico and liberty mutual. This accident totaled a Rav4 and no airbags deployed. Given inadequate attention was given to subject and investigation of this matter by Toyota, subject seeks investigation and remedy for injuries sustained.

My air bag light was on off and on for two years on my Toyota rav 4. Everytime I brought it in the mechanic would run a test and say that it was just a glitch in the system. On the day the airbags really messed up my friend and I were sitting in my car, I turned the ignition on and the side air bags on both sides exploded. It felt like someone had put a bomb in my car. My friend fractured her sternum and I had a severe closed head injury, a hole in my ear drum, and the muscles in my neck were messed up. Failure Date: 04/17/2010

My teenage son lost control of my 2007 Toyota Rav4 and crashed into a tree. I believe the car hit the tree at an angle on the passenger side headlight area. He has been charged with speeding, but I don't know exactly how fast he was going. Three of his friends were in the car, all wearing seat belts. The front seat passenger suffered a serious closed head injury, broken leg and arm, and a punctured lung. The driver had a broken clavicle and the driver's side backseat passenger broke his pelvis. The driver and passenger front airbags deployed, but the passenger side curtain and torso airbags did not deploy, which I suspect caused the front passenger to be more seriously injured. 33 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2007 Toyota RAV4

Failure Date: 06/17/2009

At low rpm the accelerator and/or the transmission has a noticeable lag. This occurs approx 50 % of the time. Several times it has put me into a dangerous situation when trying to blend into traffic. Most recently I was taking my son to college and was almost hit by a truck on the penn turnpike. I have brought it in twice to the dealer only to be told that a road test showed "normal operation of the accelerator". I recently did a web search and found that Toyota has stopped selling rav 4 with v6 engines in australia for just this problem. In June , while also driving my son to college I had the air conditioner on for about 4 hours of a 11 hour drive. The driver side floor, and to a lesser extent the passenger side floor, flooded. Upon my arrival I dried it out the best I could using hotel towels. A musty smell lasted about a day or two then subsided. Driving back home several days later it rained for most of the trip and again the car flooded . I brought it to the dealer since it was under warranty. They told me that weep vents under the vehicle for the air conditioner and moon roof were clogged thereby directing the water into the vehicle. The cleaned it up as best they could but that the musty smell was stronger now. To get rid of that would require pulling the seats and rugs to properly clean the vehicle and that would cost approx $250. I opted not to do that and drove for the next week with the air conditioner on to dehumidify the car. I checked to owners manual and found no mention of cleaning these weep holes/vents, and it is not part of the dealers maintenance policy to clean them. The owners manual did mention that if the floor was to get wet then there was a safety issue with the side airbag and curtain shield airbag activating correctly (page 379 of owners manual). Water may also get into audio components or other electrical components above or under the floor carpet and cause malfunction and it may cause body corrosion.
