Constant battery failure on 2018 rav 4. Replaced Jan 2020 and again March 2021. All the lights lit up, bells & whistles then dead. Have called triple a so many times we are out of service unless upgrade plan. Dealer states car not driven enough (despite driven several times per week) but dealer would not state how much car should be driven to avoid battery failure issue. Also noted squirrel had built nest under the hood with insulation. Notified dealer of all & they replaced battery which was not included in warranty that is active. Vehicle was stationary. Concerned as others having same issue and some with battery explosion/fire. My mom is elderly and concerned about her being stranded out and about or worse fire hazard.

The vehicle use purchased in Dec '18. In Dec '19 the battery went dead and was replaced. Toyota said the battery had a bad cell. . In Apr '20 the battery went bad again and was replaced. Toyota said the wrong size battery was installed the last time. In Aug '20 the battery went bad again and was replaced, Toyota said it was because of a gps devise that was installed by the selling dealership and was never made aware to the buyer. In Dec '20 the battery went bad again and was replaced. This time Toyota said it was because the car was not being driven enough. The driving pattern has been the same with this vehicle since it was purchased. If that was the problem then why was it not a problem in the first year of ownership. Also it was not a problem with the previous vehicle that was used as a trade-in on this vehicle. There seems to be an obvious problem with the electrical system of the vehicle.
Our car sat for 2 days without being used and the battery was dead. Read online many other Rav4 owners having similiar issues, something is draining the battery.

Battery died less than 24 hours after last use. Parked in enclosed garage.
Battery isn't holding a charge. Temps outside are getting colder but not that cold. Don't drive it on sundays, battery is dead dead on Monday mornings. Drive an average of 30 miles per day. Battery was replaced by dealership and still slow to start in the mornings. Now run it idling for 20 minutes Sunday evening to ensure it starts Monday morning.
2020 Toyota Rav4 hybrid purchased Dec 2019 battery dies after car has been sitting a few days car does not start have to tow to dealer.
Battery dies when not started for a few days, with no doors left open or lights left on, etc. Dealer states that diagnostics came back clear and there is nothing wrong with the battery. Issue still present. Vehicle was left in the garage off for 3 days, when we noticed the car would not start and the battery was dead.
2020 January Rav4 xle awd. 2 cases of dead battery. 1st in April mileage 2029, 1 week without driving. 2nd in July milage 2896, 2 days without driving. 1st time; aaa jumped it, tested battery said it failed. Took to dealer; nothing wrong, battery test good. 2nd time; Toyota road server jumped it. A simple search of the web shows hundreds of the same issue. Possible reported causes; bad batch of batteries, dcm fw update (TSB t-sb-0021-20 - doesn't apply to our car), mystery "sensor" needs to be replaced, constant data communications between key fob, positioning satellite or bluetooth phone. This is huge safety issue!!! people are being stranded at any time with a dead battery on cars less than a year old!!!.
2020 Rav4 hybrid: battery keeps dying. Purchased 6/22/20, battery died multiple times 3 weeks later, battery replaced 7/16/20. Battery dying again 2/19/21 and again 3/5/21. Ongoing issue. Also head unit w/usb port had to be replaced 12/8/20 after found inoperable multiple times, the final being 11/9/20. Both stopped working after sitting 1-3 days. Main. Records not uploaded since file may be public domain, sensitive information on records. Toyota may contact me directly for records however, as I have kept all of them.
I have a 2020 Rav4 xle with about 3,000 mileage. The car battery has died twice. The first time it happened, I jump started the car. The second time, I took the car to the dealer but they said there was nothing wrong with the car. I don't understand why a new car would be having these battery problems. Has anyone had any similar problems and have suggestions on how to resolve the issue?.
Rav4 was purchased first week of June 2020. Two weeks later, I go to start the car in the morning and the battery is dead. I had it jumped and took it to Toyota. The dealer said everything was working as it should. I took it home. This morning, three week after the first incident, I go try to start the car in the morning and the battery is dead. The tow truck driver was able to jump and start the car. Since this was the second time this happened in a month, I had the car tow to the dealer for further diagnostics. Something is definitely wrong with the electrical system. Car was parked in the garage over night both times. No lights interior or exterior light were on. No doors ajar to draw power. Radio was turned off. Both fan and a/c was turned off.
I bought a new 2020 Rav4 hybrid xse in January. Two weeks ago, I went out in the morning to drive it and it wouldn't start. The battery was dead. I had left it parked in the driveway with the car locked. The car had 5,400 miles. I called roadside assistance to jump it and get it to the dealership. They ran diagnostics and had no idea what the problem was. They suggested I wasn't driving it enough ?.
My 2020 Toyota Rav4 wouldn't start. It was parked in my garage. A tow truck operator ran a test and found that I had a dead battery. This was surprising because I only had 1,800 miles on this vehicle. After the operator charged the battery, I drove it to the Toyota dealer's service dept. They ran some tests and replaced the dead battery under warranty. They were unable to find out what caused the battery to fail. The technician told me that they had 5 batteries fail this month. I did an internet search and found other people had the same problem with the 2020 Toyota Rav4. They thought that it either could be an internal short in the battery, or else the digital parking brake was draining the battery. This battery problem could be a serious safety problem that could leave people stranded in winter weather.
I was driving on the interstate entrance ramp when the battery died but then I was able to start it back and drove just a short distance when the hood started smoking. I pulled over and turned the motor off and raised the hood, and the battery was on fire. The battery and electrical system burned.

Battery goes dead and requires a jump start at least twice a week. Energency brake does not always release first time. Transmission clunks and grinds when shifting. Has been to two different Toyota dealers who tell me everything is fine and I don't drive it enough. Bought it new in 2019 and it now has 2901 miles on it.

My battery has gone dead 3 times since I bought the car used in 2014. The dealer put in a new battery at the time I bought the car. In each case, I took the car back to dealer and the service department said the battery "failed the load test". Each time they replaced the battery free, saying it was still under 100% warranty. My car had 56,000 miles when I bought it. It now has 117,000. I took the car recently to two independent Toyota mechanics who also could find nothing about the car which would cause the battery failure. The car has never failed to start when I take it out of the garage. It fails when I have parked someplace and need to start it again. I drive the car almost every day, so there is no possibility of a drain caused by the car's computer. Thus far the battery failure has occurred in the city where I live. When the battery is recharged by aaa after I fail to restart the car, I am able to take the car home and take it to the dealership the next day. I have no problem starting the car for this trip. My only solution for this problem is to buy a gb40 to charge the next time I have a battery failure, which will be my fourth free one!.

My vehicle was parked in a parking lot but when I wanted to open the door, the fob wouldn't work. The battery had been depleted and when I replaced the battery, by aaa, the dashboard lights stayed on even after I took out the keys from the ignition. This can cause the battery to die again. I have to disconnect the battery so that the light that stays on will not deplete the battery. The car shakes because the power isn't getting to the receiver very well. This is a problem inside the electric hub. At any moment my car can shut off because the electric current isn't stable when the car is on. One of the fuses or something isn't disconnecting properly, causing the dashboard lights to stay on.

Since January 13, I have had my battery die on me 4 times (including the first time) - twice in January and the others a few months in between. It never sat for more than a few days. Brand new car end of November 2012, so it was only a year old. I think there may be some discrepancy between the battery and where you can plug in your ipod for music. . . That's the only thing that was 'left on'/plugged in (I checked every time). The Toyota guy said that shouldn't be issue, but nothing else makes sense. I even went to a battery specialist guy and he said something was just slowly draining and a good charge overnight would do the trick.

Oem battery died. Vehicle was jump started. During subsequent operation power steering stopped working intermittently causing difficulty steering vehicle.
The contact owns a 2004 Toyota Rav4. While the contact was driving approximately between 35-40 mph, the anti-skid and check engine warning indicators suddenly illuminated and would remain on until the engine was turned off. The cruise control failed to set any speed during the illumination of the warning indicators. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they were unable to replicate the failure; however, to correct the problem the technician reset the computerized system. In addition, the low tire pressure indicator illuminated on the instrument panel continuously. Also, the dead battery failed twice and required a jump start. The battery was replaced by dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000. The VIN was unavailable.
