Failure Date: 06/20/2020

New vehicle, parked in enclosed garage, at home for thirty-six (36 ) hours. Vehicle had approximately six-hundred (600) miles. Wife made attempt to start the vehicle but the battery was dead. No lights, no horn functioning. Called Toyotacare for assistance. . They responded and determined the new battery had five (5) volts. This was described as a totally dead battery. I took the vehicle back to the dealership, Toyota of olympia (washington) replaced the dead battery and installed a battery trickle charger. The next day, we drove the vehicle for at least five hours and parked in closed garage. Battery voltage was 12. 67 volts. After three hours, parked, the battery was 12. 69. The next morning at 6am the battery was 12. 63. Within three hours (9am) the battery was 12. 45 volts. Any battery at 12. 45 volts is considered a dead battery. Within twelve hours the battery diminished from fully charged to dead visited the web site of cargurus and located approximately sixteen other complaints with the exact same problem- dead battery after vehicle is parked for two days.

2 Horn Assembly problem of the 2015 Toyota RAV4

Failure Date: 09/12/2018

We purchased a Toyota Rav4 with a 100% o. K. From Toyota dealer four weeks and 200 miles after parking in the garage the next morning it would not start several try's later it barley started, I am a retired mechanic, the headlights were normal bright with horn honking, the dealer told my wife the battery had 0 cranking amps they installed a new 80 month Toyota battery,. My problem is safety issues going to the internet and searching Toyota problems battery's, electrical shorts, electrical fires, stopping unexpectedly loss of steering, electric wire burn smell, I could go on my point is everything is tied together electrical issue with wiring shorts ! I don't want to sound like an alarmist but it might sound that way, something is causing all the issues with early battery failure, as a mechanic 50 years I have seen this before and almost always it is a electrical short some ware in the system, and in some vehicles you no longer have throttle cables or linkage you have electric assist meaning a motor or some kind of pressure sensitive device that can short and inadvertently cause the vehicle to stop or cause the vehicle to advance full throttle with no way to stop! I'm hoping some one will read this that can help put our minds to rest or please look into this issue, I am afraid for my wife and all loved ones driving these vehicles.

5 Horn Assembly problem of the 2002 Toyota RAV4

Failure Date: 06/13/2011

I was going north on molly lane and going to turn right on us hwy 92 going east. I pulled into oncoming traffic when my car stalled and it acted like the transmission slipped. I was almost rear ended. I drove and picked up a pizza on townlake parkway and the same thing happened when I pulled out of papa johns. I knew there was a bad problem at that point. I was going to drive it home and have it towed to Toyota. Upon turning onto the entrance ramp it stalled again and had no power. The cars behind me were blowing their horns. At the top of the ramp it revved and then surged. I drove it home and had it towed. Toyota says that the ecm is bad and needs to be replaced and then they can check the transmission. I looked on the internet and found there have been numerous problems with the 2001 - 2003 Rav4's. This is a definite safety risk and Toyota should be made to do a recall to fix the ecm boards.

6 Horn Assembly problem of the 2007 Toyota RAV4

Failure Date: 12/23/2008

2007 Rav4 ltd v6 - alarm system that kills engine -- malfunctioned. Short in electrical system between alarm system and battery. Dealer supposedly fixed, but I hear a buzz noise like a wire shorting out and the one beep the alarm system is to make when locking car doesn't beep. System malfunctioned 2 x and last time was leaving airport at midnight. Luckily pulled off interstate. Car died. Could have happened while driving on interstate. Car horn continuously beeped when malfunctioning - which could have caused me to be car jacked by someone who thought I was intentionally doing the beeping or it could have killed the engine while driving on interstate. Dealer said problem was battery then said short between battery and alarm system. Supposedly fixed it but it appears that it's still not working properly 2 weeks later so taking back to dealer today.
