The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where the front driver's side rotor was replaced. The contact stated that the VIN was not included in any recalls. The contact 2003 Toyota Rav4. The contact stated that there was an excessive amount of rust and cracks on the rotors of the front left and right brakes. A local mechanic replaced the left and right front rotors. The contact confirmed the failure with an authorized dealer. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 64,000. Had 2005 Toyota rav 4 front brake rotors displayed straight lines of tiny pits across braking surface , appeared to be casting flaws extended into and below rotor surface. Had problems with tires prematurely wearing on inner sides, scraping noise. Asked dealership repair shop about these rotors and was told they see a lot of them like this.
