It was recalled for motor oil consumption. But was not able to take it forbpersonal reasons. Recall expired it can not be fixed. Now car is consuming alot of oil. Don't know what to do.

Burning multiple quarts of oil over several thousand miles of normal highway driving. 1000 mile drive results in being 1. 5-2 quarts low.

The contact owns a 2006 Toyota Rav4. While driving, there was excessive oil consumption without warning. An oil consumption test determined that there were two quarts of oil lost within 1,100 miles. The vehicle was taken to jones Toyota (1508 belair road, belair, MD 21014) where it was diagnosed that the piston rings needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact called the manufacturer and was informed that they would not consider the warranty and there was no recall on the vehicle. The failure mileage was 136,900.

Driving on expressway the low oil light came on dozens of times while braking. . Toyota Rav4 2007 with only 69k miles started to consume 1 quart of oil every 1000 miles. . . Dealer did an oil consumption test - which proved that engine is burning oil. Since car is more then 10 years, even though the mileage is very low - Toyota refuses to cover repair costs. Dealer's quote for repair was $4,300.

2008 Toyota Rav4 excessive oil consumption. After reaching 100,000 mile on my vehicle, it began to use 1 quart of oil every 1,200-1,500 miles. Toyota knew of this problem (TSB to dealers) but refuse to offer any restitution to customers if the vehicle has passed the 60,000 mile power train warranty. This is a manufacture problem and Toyota should have to make these repairs free of any charge to the customer.

Massive consumption of oil. My 2007 Toyota Rav4 consumes approximately a quart of oil in 500 miles. This is very excessive and means that I have to fill the oil 10 times before the "5000 mile" oil change. Toyota did issue a TSB and ran the car through a test and deemed the loss of oil acceptable which I find ludicrous. Acceptable is being down 1/4 a quart after 5000 miles. But if I waited til my oil change the engine would be destroyed. And the very least they need to issue a recall and fix the problem.

I bought this Rav4 in February 2017, after driving few I realized my car is burning too much oil. I had purchased extended warranty but by the time I went for my issue my warranty had expired. I called Toyota company and explained my oil burning issue, they gave me a case number and told me they would call me later. I received a call few days later and they offered me $1000. 00 towards payment for repairs, which wasn't enough. Because Toyota dealers told me they would have to repair the whole engine in order to stop oil burning problem, which would cost almost $5000. 00. So I didn't accept $1000. 00 offer from Toyota motors, ever since I am putting one quarter oil every 500 miles. So I don't know what to do with this issue. Please help me out. Thanks.

Excessive oil consumption leading to the engine problem, nearly stalling on highway (my two young boys in the car), very dangerous. I was able to pull into a gas station - almost no oil in the engine. I change oil every 3k-4k miles. As I read up more on the issue, Toyota has a design flaw in its pistons, leasing to oil consumption (2006-08 Rav4) with the 2az-fe engine. Toyota performed the oil consumption test (2 step on 10/05/2017), my car failed (too much oil consumption), but Toyota will not fix, as my Rav4 pass the warranty date. Bought the Rav4 at Toyota of morristown, NJ in may 2007. Other Toyota models also use the same engine. They sold me (and many others too) the Rav4 even with the known design flaws. It will cost over $3. 5k to rebuild the engine at Toyota. I never received any notifications, they only issued a fix in 2011 within Toyota dealerships. Models impacted: camry 2007-11, camry hybrid 2007-11, corolla & matrix 2009, Rav4 2006-08, solara 2007-08, scion xb 2008-09 and tc 2007-09.

I'm writing in regards to Toyota TSB 0094-11 "2az-fe engine oil consumption. My vehicle is using oil and the dealer tells me now I need to rebuild the engine. I brought it in the first time, but the bulletin said I could have two checks. Today was only the second check.

Excessive oil consumption. At least one quart of oil needs be added every 600 miles. Problem started at approximately 80,000 miles. Oil sludge built up in a valve which caused the vehicle to stall unexpectedly.

1. Excessive oil consumption up to 1qt every 1200 miles, under normal driving conditions noticed December of 2013. 2. Ecm fails to hold reverse gear. Gear frequently slips in reverse when gas pedal is pressed, won't back up hills. Noticed December of 2013, no power when first starting up for first 10 to 15 minutes of drive. Total engine failure at 115,000 miles due to excessive oil consumption. Burned through 4 quarts of oil in less than 3 weeks time. Need a new engine or engine rebuild. Will be $4,000 to fix. Toyota is aware of the issue and had issued enhanced warranties for vehicle n the past. We purchased the vehicle in 2015 after notifications had been sent. Issue often becomes apparent around 100,000 miles according to research. Calls with Toyota have been unsuccessful at any sort of recourse for this. Toyota customer service rep claims to receive multiple calls per week on this issue. Our engine failed on a major interstate. While traveling 60 miles per hour.

Engine oil consumption on this vehicle is unaccepted, Toyota knew this problems and should make a recall years ago about this issue.

Excessive oil consumption caused engine to leak oil.

Excessive oil consumption - uses 1 quart of oil every 1,500 miles or less. We have to constantly check the oil level and my wife is now afraid to drive the vehicle fearing that the engine will seize up if we have failed to check the oil level. Note: I've had to "dummy" a date because this is a continuous problem and not just one date.

Engine is burning oil rapidly. Have to keep adding oil on a regular basis when red icon button to add oil comes on!!.

Engine started excessively burning oil at approx 110,000 mile mark. Took to dealer. Warranty was still valid. Engine would be almost dry at 3,000 mile mark. They did a consumption test, said it passed. When I asked how that could be since it shouldn't be dry at 3,000 mile mark. They told me to watch it and come back. When it happened again, way before next oil change was needed, 3,300 miles, bone dry, they said my warranty was expired. Internet shows this is a problem with my make, model and year car, they know it, but refuse to recall due to cost. They refuse to fix the engine.

Toyota warranty enhancement program (ze7) phase 2: 2006 - 2008 my Rav4 warranty policy bulletin pol 14-12 12/16/14 due to excessive oil consumption. Toyota failed to notify me of this issue despite my taking my vehicle in for numerous recall issues, and my ordering seals for my oil system due to oil loss.

I took my vehicle in for a recall. The technician found it was low on oil and filled it. Two weeks later I had my mechanic check and it was low 2 quarts of oil. I set my trip odometer. It has been 2000 miles and I have had to add 4 quarts of oil to my engine. I am told this excessive oil consumption is due to bad pistons that will need to be changed. I understand this to be a costly repair.

Takata recall I have owned this car for almost two years now and ever since I have owned the car the car has had a oil consumption issue . Meaning I drive 40 miles a day Monday through Friday and at the end of the week I need to add oil to it. After 200 miles a car should not need oil . I have had multiple people look at the car and it doesn't have a leak the car is consuming the oil. I belong to many Toyota car forums online and many other cars my year model are having the same issue . This is something that needs to be.

I purchased the vehicle used last April. Less than 30 days later I realized it was burning excessive oil. I brought it to the used car dealership that I purchased it from he said he would check some spark plugs and it would be fine. Few days after he "fixed the problem" I had to add more more oil. I brought it back to him he said that 2006 rav 4 Toyota rav 4s are known to burn excessive oil. He said he would provide me with car to trade at no cost. Almost one year has gone by and this has not happened. I feel that he should do something about it and give me my money back but I feel that Toyota should also be held responsible.

My 2006 Rav4 has an oil consumption problem. The car was burning 1/2 quart of oil every 300 miles. I am paying $3500 to have the pistons and rings replaced.

This vehicle falls under the excessive oil consumption issue; the dealerships won't repair it under warranty, I need to add oil to it weekly, it has no value and can not be sold due to this and I'm worried that the engine will seize. This vehicle has been a large financial loss and Toyota knew that this was happening and didn't send out a recall.

Burning oil. I have to put oil all the time. Mechanics said car can't fix because the engine is the problem. I can only change the engine because it is a manufacturer problems. The car burn gas as well.

After my engine oil light flickered briefly a few times when driving. I had the oil checked and found it virtually empty, we put a quarter in and took it to the dealership where they filled my oil and taped the oil cap and had me return between 1000 and 1300 miles. Today I took it in at 1200 miles and was 2 quarts low. Have had all of my oil changes done at 3000 miles at the same dealership the car was purchased. They claim a letter was sent offering a oil consumption test and would have possibly covered repairs if I had an issue during the 10 year period they were offering warranty enhancement. I never saw such a letter. My car never had lowe oil recorded until my one oil change where I was basically empty. I have filed a claim with Toyota, but they are saying there is nothing they will do for me. This is a well known issue with many lawsuits and should be a recall. Never once did the service people ever mention this issue or offer to do the oil consumption test when my car was under warranty. The engine is probably going to require a new pistons and rings and cost several thousand dollars to fix. I think Toyota needs to step up and take responsibility for these faulty engines they put in their Toyotas.

It seems there is a problem with the oil consumption in many different Toyota vehicle models including mine. I brought my vehicle in for service on this particular problem and they did an oil consumption test, which was not performed as I drove over the required 1200 miles. However, they told me I needed to have the bottom part of the engine rebuilt. Not once did they mention the ongoing problem. I told them I had to think about it and was told to check the oil more often than normal. After getting home and doing research online did I find that my engine can seize at any time even with oil in it. Also, if I pay for the repairs, this can happen again. I don't have the money for repairs nor another vehicle. There should have been a recall on this problem. I would have never bought my car if I would have known. I don't know what to do. Can you advise?.

Oil consumption of more than 2 quarts in a week. Purchased vehicle used from Toyota dealership October 2016. This vehicle is used for school and going to atlanta for appointments over 50 miles from my home. Filed a claim with Toyota but was told that I was over the 10 year mark by 2 months havent reached the 150,000 mark yet just at 135,000 miles.

Once home, the contact checked the oil stick and noticed that the reservoir was empty. The dealer diagnosed that the failure was due to lack of maintenance. The vehicle was scheduled for an oil consumption test. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 87,000.
