After the car sits for 3 or 4 days I driven the battery dies and needs to be jumped to get it started again. No lights left on or anything. On cold start the engine makes a ticking noise that has been getting louder over that last few months.

For engine, it has excessive oil consumption. I need to add 1 qtr of oil after 1. 5k miles drive. For steering, it makes cracking sounds when having turn the steering in a slow motion drive backing up from garage.

Driving down a freeway when a loud clunking sound came from the engine, had to pull over and had the car towed. And as it ends up the Rav4, which had every single service on time and without problems, had somehow burned up all it's engine oil and caused thousands of dollars of damage to my engine. The service department at the Toyota dealer refuse to explain how this could happen to a perfectly healthy car and refuse to acknowledge this exact problem in hundreds of other 2007 Rav4's. In addition, they fail to take responsibility for this obvious fault of theirs and continue to put their "valued" custromers in danger as this could have resulted in a serious accident. I am being told that the engine was left with only 1/2 quart of oil from the previous service which was 4 mos prior to this which caused the engine to be destroyed. I have no idea, and am being kept in the dark, about why the engine lost oil.
My alternator went in my vehicle but was discovered was disturbing. I had just had my oil changed 4 weeks prior and the vehicle was almost empty of oil. If the alternator had not failed my engine would have blown due to the lack of oil. The lack of oil is due to the piston assembly in my 2008 Toyota Rav4. This is a known problem with Toyota since they issued a technical service bulletin on Aug. 11 known as sb002411 and sb009411. Toyota said the problem was traced to the piston assembly, yet I have not received any notification from Toyota regarding this issue. There isn't any recall. This repair is only covered for 60 months or 60,000 miles, whichever occurs first. In my situation, the financial burden of this repair is on myself ($4-$5k). This is the second issue with Toyota rav 4 where it should be a recall. My prior issue was the steering intermediate shaft which was making a clucking sound and if not addressed the I could lose control of the vehicle, that financial burden was $800. Both should be a recall by Toyota.

When backing the car out and turning the steering, there is a clunking noise that occurs. It mostly occurs from a cold start. The car started making a popping sound. It was coming from underneath that car and made the exhaust sound really loud. Shortly after, the car seems to be driving very clunky and does not drive as well as usual. The car vibrates and drives very slowly. It sounded like it dropped a cylinder. The engine sounds very clunky. This has happened many times. Ignition coils were replaced several times.
When backing the car out and turning the steering, there is a clunking noise that occurs. It mostly occurs from a cold start. There is a service bulletin out for this, but the dealer won't cover it. The car started making a popping sound. It was coming from underneath that car and made the exhaust sound really loud. Dealership said it was the centerpipe that was connected to the catalytic converter. The material of the centerpipe and catalytic was rusted and the dealership blamed it on me and that I drove the car off roading. I told them that the car has never gone off roading, garaged, and well maintained. Other 2006 Rav4 owners have cited the same issue stating that the material and craftsmanship of the centerpipe and catalytic converter were of poor quality. The seams of the centerpipe just completely came undone. When speaking with the dealership, they refused to cover it under the emissions warranty. When talking to the environment protection agency for emissions, they said that Toyota should cover it. This centerpipe issue became a larger issue when the vehicle misfired and the vsc, check engine, and 4wd lights on. Took it to the dealership to discuss what the issue may be. Other owners stated that the ignition coils were of poor quality and Toyota has issued replacements. Talked to the dealership and they refused to replace it under warranty. Shortly after, the car seems to be driving very clunky and does not drive as well as usual. The car vibrates and drives very slowly. It sounded like it dropped a cylinder. The engine sounds very clunky. This has happened many times. Ignition coils were replaced several times. Check engine light, vsc, and 4wd lights turn on solid each of these instances. Since then the tire pressure has turned on and gone bad. Had to get that replaced. Now all 3 lights are back on and will need to find out why.

Toyota, 2006 Rav4 . . . Loose steering arms. Causing clunking noises while turning at low speed. Don't know if this gets bad enough to fall apart while driving? Toyota has a TSB out on this. Many many complaints on this topic online. Toyota wants $800. To fix this problem. I think they should do a recall on these cars. Also vehicle has a 2 to 3 second hesitation if trying to accelerate during a lane change or something similar. This is a safety issue. My car does this also . . And numerous complains with this issue on line. Should be a recall for this. Toyota won't acknowledge there is a problem with this.
On Tuesday, January 24, 2006 while driving from rhode island, the oil light came on - immediately I pulled over to the next exit to a gas station. I put one quart of oil in the engine because that is all it stated it needed. At which time the oil light went off. I continued to drive for approximately five minutes and the oil light came on - then the engine light came on. After a few minutes a clicking sound started - so immediately pulled over to the side of the road and turned the engine off. I tried to start the engine again - however it would not turn over. I immediately contacted aaa to have the car towed. The car was towed from rhode island to north cary auto. The mechanic tried started the car and immediately stated that the engine was no good. I asked him to check the car over to make sure this was the case. He stated that after checking the car - he didn't understand why the oil light came on because the car had plenty of oil. I immediately contacted ira Toyota and the Toyota corporate office at which time they informed me that the car needed to be brought in to a Toyota dealer to take a look at it. On February 2 at approximately 3:45 p. M. I received a call from charlene to inform me that it would take $10,000 to repair the car because the engine was gone. She stated that a rod broke and went up into engine which caused it to shut down. I asked to speak to her manager, cathy kitik, who also informed me that there was "gunk" in the engine. At which time I informed her that it was sludge and it is known that Toyota has had a problem with the v4 and v6 engines. She stated that it never occurred in the Toyota rav 4. At which time I asked her "is it a Toyota engine" and she confirmed that it was. She also confirmed that a rod broke and went into the engine which caused it to shut down. I informed her that I had receipts which showed the oil was changed appropriately.
