2 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2007

I own a 2002 Toyota Sequoia 4x2. The vsc/trac lights came on after I had the battery replaced on Dec. 20, 2006. My Toyota specialist could not figure out what the problem was but said that the Sequoia's seem to have multiple problems relating to brakes and computers. I took it to the dealer on Jan. 8, 2007 and they said it has been a common/ongoing problem. Toyota has not recalled this problem though. They could fix the ecc (electrical computer component) at the cost of $1,600. I said no thanks.

3 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2006

I own a '02 Toyota Sequoia with 71,000 miles that is now off factory warranty. My vsc/abs/skid lights came on and stay on. After taking it to the dealer they advised that the skid control computer and possibly the engine control computer (ecc) required replacing. The vsc alone is $2200. 00. The abs and vsc systems do not function now and I live in denver, colorado, where there are frequent snows. My wife and three children use this vehicle everyday and I fear for their safety as she has slid through two stop signs already. I have read that this is a common problem with this year of Sequoia.

4 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 07/28/2006

Abs vsc trac control system lights come regularly. Before lights come on, systems prevent acceleration for several seconds resulting in potentially dangerous inability to navigate the car. This continually happens.

5 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 09/25/2005

Vsc turns on at low speed and high speed under normal driving conditions. Brakes activate on their own, front end shakes and pulls hard to the right. Almost caused me to drive off the road. Toyota performed an inspection which found nothing. I need to take it in again but this is an unsafe condition and action needs to be taken. Many other seem to have the same problem.

6 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 10/22/2003

While driving and when depressing the brakes brake pedal is delayed, resulting in extended stopping distance.

7 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 12/17/2002

Consumer states that the vehicle would vibrate when applied the brakes, dealer has been notified and replaced rotors, two weeks later consumer states has the same problem and dealer inspected and can correct the problem. Please provide further information. Ts.

8 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 09/07/2002

Vsc frequently activates at low speeds and high speeds under dry conditions. Brakes activate on their own, front end shakes and grinds. Definitely a safety issue. In shop 8 times for same condition without successful repair. Toyota now believes they have solved the problem but has agreed to replace the vehicle at consumers request. Toyota has been diligent in trying to resolve the problem and honorable in reaching a resolve.

9 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2002

At 12000 miles brakes were completely worn out. Consumer had to replace rotors, and was very concerned about safety due to excessive wear, at 20000 miles the second set of brakes were replaced.
