1 Battery problem of the 2003 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 08/17/2010

I purchased this vehicle in 2007 with 43,000 miles. Since then I have driven 30,000 miles in 4 years. When I first pick this car it looked great. The day I picked it up it had a dent in the back, and the dvd player didn’t work and was replaced. There was a water leak that Toyota had to repair and remove an odor associated with it. Later, I brought it in to have my gas tank level indicator repaired but was told that it was time consuming and basically was advised that the dashboard had to be taken out so, I didn’t get it done. I replaced my battery, constantly had my oil changed, as the paint started to peel on my left front fender. Tie rods were replaced that had broken, which was covered by the platinum coverage that I purchased for 1000. 00. I’ve had a vsc logic relay replaced and trim repaired that was lifting off. Now my coverage on the platinum plan was over 4-10-2010 on the 17th of August my rear window would not go down, about three days later the brake light came on. On the 19th the 4 wheel drive control initiated and when it’s initiated to go off the center will continue to be engaged, blinking. Even till today when the vehicle is started up you have to dis-engage the 4 wheel drive. So I took it to Toyota . That’s when this final horror began. I had my oil changed (Sunday), and the next day (Monday) I took it back for service. After they ran a diagnostic trend here’s what I was told: the rear window motor was bad and needed replacing even though they know of the problems associated with the rear windows. 690. 00 master cylinder assembly…………………………. 1165. 00 ccnter differential…………………………………. 2134. 00 serpentine belt and tensioner………………………. 492. 00.

2 Battery problem of the 2007 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 01/01/2010

In January 2010, as I was doing an oil change on my 2007 Sequoia, I noticed some corrosion on the underside of the hood and also through the engine bay. I took it in to mid city Toyota for an warranty claim inspection on the issue, March 2010. It was obvious that it was a defect of something, I couldn't figure out what it was. The dealership came back and said I must have filled the water in the battery, because it is now leaking and because of that, it has voided the warranty and they will not fix it. I disagreed with their statement and indicated that we did not fill the battery with water. My parents are the only ones driving the vehicle, they wouldn't even know how to do that in the first place. The dealership wanted to know what type of resolution we wanted out of this, I stated to just repaint the underside of the hood, new battery, and other damages associated to the battery leak. They wanted me to get an estimate from a local body shop. After submitting the estimate, they reviewed it again and denied the claim. I decided to take it to another dealership in, elk grove Toyota, in elk grove CA, July 12 2010. The service department found the battery to have been faulty and was leaking, which the fan blew the acid throughout the engine compartment causing the pattern of corrosion as reported. They agreed to fix the problem. A few days after the car was at the shop, they called and said they found the car is out of warranty as of 6/24/2010 and will not fix the vehicle. I explained that I had reported the issue to mid-city Toyota in March 2010 during the warranty period. They wanted me to open a case with Toyota, and they'll review it after. I opened up case # 1007162060 with Toyota. Elk grove Toyota came back after a couple of weeks and denied fixing the car out of good will stating that there was lack of maintenance records.

3 Battery problem of the 2003 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 10/01/2007

9/07 - a load noise sounded and the vehicles brakes and steering locked up on me while I was accelerating and approaching a 4 way stop light. I took the vehicle in to folsom lake Toyota for service that day. They told me they could not find the problem, maybe it was do to a low charge from the battery. So I had them replace the battery. 10/1/07 a few weeks later I was accelerating and going on to the freeway when all of a sudden the brake noise sounded the steering and brakes locked up and all my engine lights came on then I completely lost power. I coasted to the side turned off the key and turned it back on again nothing happened so I turned it off and on again and it was working again. I took my vehicle back to folsom lake Toyota and 3 weeks later they still can not find anything wrong with my vehicle.

4 Battery problem of the 2001 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 07/05/2007

Brake, abs, skid control warning lights on , dealer service checked and recommended replacing battery which was done by them. Following day warning lights still on intermittently , returned to dealer for service but the warning lights would not come on while the dealer had it. Was advised it was not a safety issue, just malfunctioning warning lights. Now( October 2007) the lights are always on and when returned to dealer for service again was told this time it was the skid control ecu, and recommend replacing skid control ecu. Was also told it that the abs and skid control were not functioning when lights were on so handling would be affected (safety issue ). At this time I am gathering information on whether it should be replaced or not.

5 Battery problem of the 2004 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 04/10/2005

Car frequently refuses to start. Had to have aaa come out and jump start it. Roseville Toyota said they could not find the trouble. This happened again the very next day, took it to maita Toyota. Maita said the manufacturer's battery was defective (had a hole in it) and they replaced the battery. Worked fine for a few weeks, now having more incidents of the same "refusing to start" problem. Car is still refusing to start once or twice a week. The only difference now is that the dash lights come on when I try to start it, the door makes the chiming sound when opened when the key is in. (before the battery replacement it was completely dead -- no lights, no door chime, nothing). Maita has diligently been trying to locate the trouble, they cannot thus far. The service advisor told me next time I need to not have it charged, but to tow it in directly in its state of "refusal to start".

7 Battery problem of the 2001 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 05/30/2003

Purchased a Toyota Sequoia 7/01. Been in and out of service ever since. We are currently on our 3rd set of brakes, 3rd trip computer, and 3rd set of tires, 2nd battery, 2nd amplifier. Car only has 33,000 miles many other problems including some electrical. Currently waiting for word from dealership on problems with transmission and fuel system. Everything up to this point (except tires #3) has been covered by warranty. Dealership got a case # with Toyota so these problems will be covered if they persist. Feel like we are on the path to a lemon. Don't know how else to proceed. Sent Toyota a letter detailing problems, asking to possibly help us get into another vehicle. We are at the point where it is a new concern everyday with this car. Help!!!!!!.
