I have a 2004 Toyota Sequoia my anti lock brakes, and traction control lights come on all the time which means that the systems are not working. Went to the dealer ship and was told it was the skid control ecu and it would cost $1804. 00 the truck has 54,275 miles on it. The contact owns a 2006 Toyota Sequoia. While stopped at the light or intersection and she attempts to accelerate. The vehicle would not accelerate instead it lost power and it would only drift. The vehicle stability control light illuminates and within a few seconds the vehicle would accelerate. She noticed that the failure occurs ninety five percent of the time while the vehicle was in four wheel drive. She took the vehicle to the dealer. The dealer test drove the vehicle. The dealer stated that the failure could an antilock break malfunction, but they are not sure if that is the part that is causing the failure. The estimated cost for repair was $2, 500. The manufacturer took a report, case 1002137212. The manufacturer stated they would contact the dealer and she would receive a call back. The failure mileage was 86,000 and the current mileage was 89,000. Updated 5/17/2010 * cn

On going problems with vsc. 2003 (41,000 miles) Toyota Sequoia has been to the dealership 3 times now for the vsc activating and brakes engaging while turning a corner in normal, dry conditions. From 3 mph to more than 15+ mph the vsc engages and brakes are applied. Very dangerous!
dealership has fixed problem each of the 3 times. Car warranty is now over and problem persists. Dealership says for $1500. They will replace the vsc computer. . . Utter non-sense!!! very upset that Toyota continues to hide from this problem. While researching on line I have easily found hundreds of similar cases and complaints. . . . . Please do something!!!!!!.

Vsc/abs skid control ecu failure. The dealership is saying that my 2003 Toyota Sequoia limited 2 wd 53,500 miles needs a new abs computer at a cost of $3,600. Approximately 2 years ago I had the exact same thing happen, the car actually froze up and the dealership had it towed to their location to fix it, they said it was the third member and replaced that. Now the same thing is happening and they won't do anything.
Skid control computer.
Toyota Sequoia vsc/abs skid control ecu failure computer fails to recognize appropriate time to turn the actual system on and off.

2003 Sequoia limited vsc / trac control lights have been on almost continuously since 3/1/2007, indicating that the stability control and traction control were not functioning. At various times the abs kicked in even though the brakes were not applied. In wet conditions on 3/17/07, the SUV did not properly respond to brake or steering, causing the SUV to drift into the oncoming lane. Fortunately, there was no traffic in the lane at the time. This was a huge safety issue. At the dealer, codes c1241, c1231, c1223, and c1203 came up. Diagnosis - translate and skid control computers needed to be replaced. Toyota tsbs br002-03 and br003-03 appeared to be related, and lead me to believe there was a known flaw in computer logic.
The vsc & trac lights are on constantly on my 2003 Sequoia. My wife seems to lose control of the car when the brakes lock up at about 2-3 mph, especially when trying to make a right turn. This is extremely dangerous and I am concerned for her and my children (3) in the car should the accident occur due to this problem. I will take action in court against Toyota should they not fix it.
Vsc off ad vsc trac warning lights come on unexpectedly in 2003 Toyota Sequoia. Car often feels unstable for a moment when this happens. Dealer has looked at the problem several times and has been unable to identify or repair cause. Problem dates back to 2003.
I own a 2002 Toyota Sequoia 4x2. The vsc/trac lights came on after I had the battery replaced on Dec. 20, 2006. My Toyota specialist could not figure out what the problem was but said that the Sequoia's seem to have multiple problems relating to brakes and computers. I took it to the dealer on Jan. 8, 2007 and they said it has been a common/ongoing problem. Toyota has not recalled this problem though. They could fix the ecc (electrical computer component) at the cost of $1,600. I said no thanks.
The vsc and trac trouble lights are coming on. The car occasionally thinks that we are skidding out of control and begins pulsating the brakes. This is very dangerous. The failure codes in the computer indicate that the skid control ecu needs to be replaced. This is expensive and not covered by warranty, but should be covered by Toyota via a safety recall with an improved version. I have found a lot of complaints on the internet by owners having the same problem.
I own a '02 Toyota Sequoia with 71,000 miles that is now off factory warranty. My vsc/abs/skid lights came on and stay on. After taking it to the dealer they advised that the skid control computer and possibly the engine control computer (ecc) required replacing. The vsc alone is $2200. 00. The abs and vsc systems do not function now and I live in denver, colorado, where there are frequent snows. My wife and three children use this vehicle everyday and I fear for their safety as she has slid through two stop signs already. I have read that this is a common problem with this year of Sequoia.
Abs vsc trac control system lights come regularly. Before lights come on, systems prevent acceleration for several seconds resulting in potentially dangerous inability to navigate the car. This continually happens.
Vsc/abs skid control ecu failure is a know issue by every Toyota Sequoia owner, but Toyota claims that it's not an issue. This failure requires that vsc/abs skid control ecu be replaced. While vehicle is under warranty, Toyota will try to do anything and everything possible not to replace the part, but once the warranty expires and you bring the car for repairs, first thing they tell you is that you need a new ecu costing close to $3000. 00.
The contact owns a 2003 Toyota Sequoia. The contact stated that the instrument panel lights remained illuminated. The dealer stated that the skid control ecu for the abs malfunctioned and they made the replacement. Approximately one year and seven months later, the failure recurred. The dealer repeated the repair and charged half the cost. The failure mileage was 38,000 and current mileage was 59,000. Updated 01/09/08. Updated 12/12/07.
Vsc turns on at low speed and high speed under normal driving conditions. Brakes activate on their own, front end shakes and pulls hard to the right. Almost caused me to drive off the road. Toyota performed an inspection which found nothing. I need to take it in again but this is an unsafe condition and action needs to be taken. Many other seem to have the same problem.
The braking system has been a problem since about 10,000 miles ,and continues to be a problem today. I have taken my Sequoia to the dealer several times. The dealer has not fixed the problem. Drive shaft thumping/lurching at the end of a full stop continues to be a problem. Fuel gage failure - the fuel gage remains below empty.

Brakes . . . . Dealer replaced once and requiring me to pay for the other, both brake jobs have been done within a year. Both were supposed to be under warranty was told basically I didn't know how to drive a SUV. (ex bus driver& 18 wheeler).
While driving and when depressing the brakes brake pedal is delayed, resulting in extended stopping distance.
When backing the vehicle out of the driveway anti lock brakes would not lock, causing extended stopping distance.
Brake pedal goes all the way down to the floor and the vehicle vibrates while driving on an incline .
While driving at any speed and when the brakes were applied the vehicle surged forward. Dealer has tried to find the cause of the problem on six different occasions. Also, when vehicle was at a stop light it trembled violently.
Consumer states that the vehicle would vibrate when applied the brakes, dealer has been notified and replaced rotors, two weeks later consumer states has the same problem and dealer inspected and can correct the problem. Please provide further information. Ts.
Vsc frequently activates at low speeds and high speeds under dry conditions. Brakes activate on their own, front end shakes and grinds. Definitely a safety issue. In shop 8 times for same condition without successful repair. Toyota now believes they have solved the problem but has agreed to replace the vehicle at consumers request. Toyota has been diligent in trying to resolve the problem and honorable in reaching a resolve.
At 12000 miles brakes were completely worn out. Consumer had to replace rotors, and was very concerned about safety due to excessive wear, at 20000 miles the second set of brakes were replaced.
Brake problem presented itself by the vehicle vibrating when braking from high speed. All brakes required servicing and then replacement. Emergency brake required adjusting three times within 20,000 miles. When only one window is open at speeds greater than 30 mph, causes severe pressure vibrations inside the vehicle interior. Pressure vibrations extremely distracting and annoying.
The anti-skid control engaged when the consumer was driving on dry pavement under 25 mph.
While driving at uknown speed and depressing brake pedal vehicle went into extended stopping distance.
