36 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 12/05/2015

Just like every other 2006 Sequoia at 80k miles the yellow abs, yellow vsc off, yellow vsc trac , and red brake dashboard lights came on causing it to fail the MA state inspection. Disassembled p/n 44050-0c100 and the brushes in the abs pump motor (ate 25. 0206-0206. 3) are completely gone.

Tl-the contact owns a 2002 Toyota Sequoia. The contact stated that while driving at 35 mph and making a right turn, the contact heard abnormal noises coming from the console of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who diagnosed that the computer needed to be re calibrated. The vehicle was repaired. However, the failure recurred on numerous occasions. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 240,000. Oo.

39 Electrical System problem of the 2003 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 06/15/2015

Two months after purchasing the vehicle, vsc and trac off lights became illuminated, no other symptoms. Stayed on for 2 days then disappeared again. Two months later the brake light had become illuminated, put it in park to load passengers, and when returned to drive, the vsc and trac off lights were illuminated and a grinding sound was heard when applying brakes - along with the vehicle pulling to the right. Turned the car off, checked fluids and fuses, when restarted only brake light was illuminated and car appeared to be driving normally. Took it in to Toyota today to have the problem checked out as the brake light is still on, and the grinding noise was a concern - and am told the brake booster needs to be replaced. In all my research on this, I'm very concerned as it appears to be quite a common problem, and on a search of my VIN it says that my vehicle is not affected by the recall (although I was told at the dealer that my ecu was 'flashed to the updated programming') current cost quoted is $1,508 - but was also told that once the booster is installed they have to re-run their check and it may not be the only problem. This is very disappointing as we own 2 other Toyotas, and purchased this car as a daily driver to take our children to school, everything I've seen regarding these issues leaves me very concerned for their safety.

40 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 05/13/2015

Received notice of recall for front passenger airbag in may 2015; Toyota has still not resolved the problem and recommended no use of front passenger seat because of safety. It is now ~8 months later and no resolve. Also, tailgate wipers, window and wiper fluid system not operational (since 2008) despite all good fuses in 4 compartments.

41 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 05/03/2015

The rear latch would not work during a camping trip in a remote area. The rear seats had been removed as per the owners manual prior to the trip. The rear portion of the vehicle was full of camping gear, food, water, and our first aide kit . I sprained my hand and back while first attempting repeated times to open the tailgate and then having to resort to lifting heavy equipment through the back window and also over the passenger seats. We took the vehicle to a Toyota dealer at out first opportunity. We were told that Toyota was aware of the problem which was described to my wife and I as weak engineering and a plastic part also know to fail. We were told that the failure could have been raised by driving the vehicle on dusty roads, because the latch was not protected from dust and it was poorly designed and was likely to fail if it got dirty. We learned from this dealer that we had already had the latch replaced a year prior. We were told that Toyota would no longer stand behind repairs to this vehicles tailgate latch because the problem was chronic and the replacement parts have not been improve to prevent expected failures. The dealer replaced, cleaned and lubricate the latch parts and then attempted to protect them using a surplus plastic bag. I am concerned that when the latch fails again it may be during an emergency, or cause another injury, or entrapment. . .

42 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 01/13/2015

Vsc vsc traction control lights came on as well as the check engine light. The vehicle was accelerating poorly. The dealer replaced the air injection control drivers and then all of the warning lights were off. The following day all of the warning lights were back on again and the vehicle was accelerating poorly again. I returned the vehicle to the dealer and I was told that another repair was needed now. The air pump set needs to be replaced for $1,700. 00. Thousands of Sequoia owners have reported this problem but Toyota has not issued a recall.

43 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 12/23/2014

As I started driving the car my vsc off vsc trac and break light when on when I tried to brake it made a terrible sound as I continued to press on the brake it made a hssssssing sound like air was coming out I got home and googled the problem I guess im not the only one Toyota is aware of problem but will not fix 2003 was fix but the rest aren't I did call Toyota and filed a complaint and the told me they couldn't do anything about it it was up to me and my responsibility if its an ongoing problem and very dangerous Toyota should recall I know have it with an experience mechanic and will hopefully get results soon.

44 Electrical System problem of the 2002 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 12/17/2014

As I was driving my vehicle it made a grinding sound along with a brief slowdown and then the vsc track light came on. When you turn the vehicle off the lights go off and stay off until another episode. This has happened on three different occasions.

45 Electrical System problem of the 2010 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 11/17/2014

Took vehicle out came home. Turned vehicle off then went inside. Came out later and saw that dash board lights were still on. Nothing else was on (dome lights, radio, heater, etc. ). Tried looking for something open, (door, etc. ). Looked in maintenance manual and couldn't find solution. So figure I'd just start vehicle up then turn off. After starting vehicle I then went to turn off but engine won't stop running . I was even able to pull key out and vehicle kept running. Drove it to nearest Toyota dealership where getting repaired.

46 Electrical System problem of the 2004 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 11/16/2014

The drivers side rear sliding door stuck in the open position due to the electrical system. There was no way to close the door once opened. The wife had to drive to dealership with door stuck wide open in the dark. This was not safe for various reasons. . . I read where other vehicles had the same problems but do not see a recall yet by Toyota. We will have the dealer break the cable and render the doors electrical system useless for that door. This really causes issues for a person with a disability and a special needs child. Hopefully Toyota will step up and recall these vehicles and correct this problem.

47 Electrical System problem of the 2003 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 11/15/2014

`while driving at about 55 mph, the abs, track control sensor lights came on and suddenly the acceleration stops I press the pedal to accelerate and there was no response I could not accelerate so I turn my emergency lights on, and accelerate again and this time it worked. But it's been doing that on everyday basis the mechanic said is the vehicles computer, is there a recall for this problem? can someone help?.

48 Electrical System problem of the 2003 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 10/16/2014

I am experiencing the same vsc problems as I read in the other complaints, along with other electrical issues. Randomly (or so it seems) the vsc, break lights, drive light and others will go on and off. It has been doing this for about a month now and every time I go to take it in for service, they aren't on and they "can't find anything wrong. ".

49 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 10/04/2014

Vsc trac, abs and brake alerts light up on dash board, noise when vehicle is initially turned on, the noise disappears after a few minutes but the alerts stay on. The vehicle also loses power (but the engine keeps running, just no power to accelerate) if I make a quick turn, loss of power lasts for a few seconds then turns back on.

50 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 09/29/2014

Front and rear parking assist sonar failed to work. The sonar failed to go off before hitting a 4 foot tall parking pole on passenger front bumper. Causing damage to the front bumper. Two days later a different driver backed into a 5 foot tall trash can on back driver bumper. Again, the sonar did not go off. The Toyota dealership said they knew it was frustrating, but their best advice was just to drive it like we didn't have sonar. We explained we bought the vehicle for it's safety devices. Having small children, sonar was a big part of our purchase decision. We just had to keep taking it back over and over. After taking the vehicle back to Toyota dealership 8 times telling them the parking sonar does not work, the sensors finally stop working and would not turn on. We immediately brought it to the dealership so they could see the sonar when it was malfunctioning. Prior to this, it was inconsistent. This time, it completely stopped working.

51 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 06/01/2014

While driving my vehicle on the highway to work, my brake warning light on the dash came on. I pulled over cut the truck off then back on, the light was gone. The next day driving home from work, it was pouring down rain and the brake warning light came on again, along with the trac and vsc warning lights. I was only driving about 25 mph since I was in the city and not on the highway yet. I pulled over cut the truck off and then back on, the lights were out, but within another mile they were back on. I avoided the highway since my brakes were having problems and it was pouring rain. The next day they were off so I drove back to work but when I was on the way home they all came back on, this time it was the afternoon and not raining so I took it to the Toyota dealership. They ran the codes and said my codes were c1247 stroke sensor and c136 master press sensor - they said this was part of a skid control ecm that controlled my antilock braking system! very scary to think my brakes were not functioning properly. I was told it could be fixed for $1042. 82 and may also need to replace the master cylinder at $715. 85. When I looked up the problem online I found that this was very common failure with 2003-05 models and that Toyota had already recalled the 2003 problem. My service tech said that he was not aware this was a common problem, although there is a service bulletin out for it. I was very scared to drive, but the tech said that my brakes still worked but that the anti lock braking system will not stop "on a dime" but will skid or slide. When I asked to speak to the service manager (all were on vacation) I spoke with the lead tech on shift, who told me alot of what I read online was junk and there was no recall on my 2005 Sequoia but he gave me a number to Toyota complaint department:1-800-331-4331. I have not driven my vehicle since taking it home that day.

52 Electrical System problem of the 2002 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 05/07/2014

While driving the vehicle vsc trac button lights up, vehicle starts beeping, the tires shake pulling vehicle wheel left to right while a v grinding sound comes from under the vehicle. It started doing v this for only a few seconds then stops. The first incident happened in may 2014, then nothing c again until July 2014. Now it happens several times randomly through the day for up to 15 second stretches at varying speeds.

53 Electrical System problem of the 2001 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 04/24/2014

Vsc trac, vsc off, trac, emergency brake & abs lights are all illuminated. Seems like every Sequoia 2001 - 2005 has this problem. After lots of research it seems like it's a fault with the vsc computer and ecu computer which dealers want $2000 and up! these malfunctions in computers affect the vehicles abs brakes, and stability control system which poses a threat to safety of driver and passengers.

54 Electrical System problem of the 2010 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 04/21/2014

While driving my 2010 Sequoia we hear a clicking sound coming from the driver side vents and under the steering wheel, a second later the radio goes out. This event happened several times. Brought it to the dealer, they reported they could not find anything. Brought it back to the dealer several times. They report could not find anything. The last time we brought it in back to the dealer we hard several clicking sounds the radio went off, we had our phones plugged in the charger and they went off, the air went off and the dash lights went off. It stayed off for several minutes and then we heard the clicking sound again and everything came back on. We have 4 video recordings of this happening and we showed it to the service department and they still reported that they found nothing. Worried it may lead to more electrical problems.

55 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 04/16/2014

Abs system would engage as vsc skid control light and brake light appears. System would reset after ignition was turned off and restarted. Mishap occurred several times on dry, smooth road surface at a low rate of speed with minimal pressure on brake pedal. I took car to dealer for repair. They replaced skid control ecu. Car repeated symptoms on my way home. I took it back to the dealer. They replaced brake booster. Car is working normally now.

56 Electrical System problem of the 2001 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 02/03/2014

58 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 10/01/2013

Vehicle acceleration stalls for a few seconds when turning right into traffic. This issue is the same as NHTSA 10v176000, but is not covered under this safety recall. This issue is very hazardous to drivers.

59 Electrical System problem of the 2004 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 07/27/2013

My vsc, vsc trac off, and brake light indicators are staying on and won't turn off.

60 Electrical System problem of the 2002 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 07/01/2013

Vsc trac, trac off, brake, and abs lights on as the same time for the last couple months. Sometimes the car straddled a little bit when I drove on freeway. I checked the code, but there are no code. I tried to looking for help online, but I am surprised, there were a lot of Toyota Sequoia owner has the same problem like mine.

61 Electrical System problem of the 2004 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 06/03/2013

The liftgate handle broke and was replaced with an original equipment plastic part. According to other's complaints, I expect it to happen again very soon. Then the handle stopped opening the liftgate altogether. I finally got the gate open and replaced the pull cable but it did no good. Once while driving, the gate opened by itself and lifted up when I went over a small bump. I can't get the gate open in case of an emergency or to access the spare tire and sometimes it opens by itself. Certainly this is a major safety issue that Toyota should address.

62 Electrical System problem of the 2002 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 06/03/2013

The vsc lights and traction lights have been randomly coming on since we purchased the Sequoia in 2005 with approx. 80k on it. They typically go off on their own and do not cause any issues. Now the slip indicator light comes on, flashes and beeps while locking up the abs and making it impossible to move until it comes to a complete stop. We have been fortunate that this has only happened at low speeds and not caused any accidents yet. It apperars that this is a wide spread issue with a combination of parts starting with the vsc computer, yaw sensor and steering angle sensor. Hopefully Toyota will take care of this due to the overall safety concern.

63 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 04/29/2013

Driving on the highway and took an exit. Slowed down and turned the steering wheel. The vsa and trac lights came on, the car lost power for several seconds, pushing the gas pedal didn't do anything for several seconds and eventually, heard a loud noise as if the engine was re-engaging and then some grinding noise and the car was back to "normal" driving condition. Since the first incident, has happened several times over again. Very dangerous considering there were cars behind me and could have ran into me. Similar experience pulling into a parking lot. Made a left turn and the car just stopped. People were honking behind me and the car would not move. Had to turn the ignition off and then back on to make it work again.

64 Electrical System problem of the 2001 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 04/15/2013

The contact owns a 2001 Toyota Sequoia. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the traction light illuminated as the front passenger tire seized. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where it was stated that the abs, logic, and control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 177,000.

65 Electrical System problem of the 2002 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 03/25/2013

Driving at 75mph and inexplicably lost vehicle speed. Engine was running but would not respond to foot feed, I. E. Press down on accelerator and little to no increase in rpms from idle. Dealer replaced throttle position sensor.

66 Electrical System problem of the 2001 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 03/15/2013

The vsc trac lights have came on and will not go off.

67 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 02/20/2013

I started my car and drove off, and I noticed the vsc trac lights stayed on. The vehicle appears to drive fine, but the vsc trac lights stayed on. Upon doing my own research online I discovered that many Sequoia owners have experienced the same issue, but Toyota has refused to do a recall. This issue with vsc trac is a huge safety concern. Through my research I discovered that the vehicle could lose power at any time, and many owners state they hear a grinding noise as the vehicle pulls to the right or left.

68 Electrical System problem of the 2004 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 01/22/2013

After making a left turn the vsc trac, slip indicator skid, and malfunction indicator lamp lights came on and have remained on. Today the brake warning light has come on and remained on. Concerned with the large number of complaints from other 2004 owners and Toyota lack of interest to resolve the problem in timely and fair manner. It appears this problem has been known for many years, changing owners many expensive repair bills and vehicles remain unfixed. Toyota owners relying on Toyota to provide a quality product and stand behind the that product when a problem like this occurs.

69 Electrical System problem of the 2003 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 12/12/2012

Can not get bsc, trc engine lights off traction control kicks in and locks steering and brakes . Unsafe can not smog after spending thousands replacing parts.
