1 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2007 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 02/07/2018

On Wednesday, February 7, I was driving our 2007 Toyota Sequoia 4x4 on a rural road that had had fresh snow the night before, but no sand or other road salt was laid down. It is a curvy and hilly road. I had driven on the road an hour earlier with no problems. At approximately 9am, I encountered a patch of ice where there was a curve in the road and my SUV that had brand new michelin tires on collided with a tree that was part of an island in the middle of the road. The tree was approximately 15 inches in diameter. The collision struck directly on left side of engine by headlightplowing in approximately 9 inches and deflated front tire. Front suspension was broken as is hood ( see picture). No airbags deployed?? I was going approximately 25-30 mph at impact. My airbag on drivers side was recalled with takata recall and replaced , but I wonder if it was installed properly or wrong? I suffered a concussion and other trauma Toyota dealer body shop indicates that all sensors for airbags on frame only and since frame not hit no deployment??.

2 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2004 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 04/07/2016

Takata recall Toyota customer service and my local Toyota have been unable to remedy this defect in the last 3 weeks nor can they tell me when they might be able to. My answer is always, "the part is on backorder". I was also told by Toyota customer service that my vehicle was safe to drive as long as there was no one in the passenger seat, that there were sensors that would not allow it to deploy if there was no weight in the passenger. I have specific questions: 1. Are there sensors on a 2004 model 2. Is my vehicle safe to drive with no one in the passenger seat 3. Does Toyota in fact have a priority system set up for owners who live in high moisture areas. 4. If vehicles can be traded from dealership to dealership why can's parts? I have contacted Toyota customer service twice (case # 1604290026) who put me in contact with dealership customer service, which simply transferred me back to the parts department, who again told me parts are on back order, call back again. My first step was to call the Toyota hot line for the recall, confirm dealership had part, and schedule to get it repaired. When I arrived at the dealership I was told they did not have the part. Simply put, is my vehicle safe to drive because I have made every effort to get the repair accomplished.

3 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2001 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 01/21/2015

I barely tapped thr back of an old Toyota corolla and at a low speed where no damage was done to either vehicle beside mine when the airbags unnecessarily deployed and shattered my windshield. When I took it to my body shop guy he said there was no way the airbags should've deployed he had checked my sensors and they had not been touched. About a month ago I took my car to my local Toyota dealership for someone to come up from I believe atlanta and inspect my car. I never could get a response from him. Testerday I called my local Toyota inquiring about my airbags problem and they said yours were recalled new ones are here bring your car here in the morning and it'll take about three hours to fix. I was excited to finally get somewhere with this issue. . . This morning I take my car up there and they tell me that it wasnt recalled and to call the guy who cane down and inspected it. I am not happy with the way this is being handled and how no one will take responsibility for this defect and fix it.

4 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2003 Toyota Sequoia

Failure Date: 12/01/2012

While driving down a familiar two lane road with many curves and not reaching a speed above 45 mph, I came upon a curve, braked, and steered my Sequoia appropriately. I was driving on the outside of the curve, but when I tried to turn with the curve, my Sequoia headed toward the oncoming lane of traffic. As it veered toward the fence posts on the other side of the road, I could not slow it down or steer it back to my lane. No matter how I pressed the brakes, it would not slow down but instead sped up. The last I remember is the realization that I could do nothing to stop or steer my Sequoia. I rolled it 3 1/2 times (through the fence and then back through it again in another spot). Many thanks to god, my 3 year old made it out with but one small scratch on his arm and a huge fear. However, it took them 1 1/2 hours to get me out and then I had to be care-flighted due to facial injuries, head trauma, and disfigured left arm. Although my Sequoia was supposed to be equipped with side impact airbags along with front airbags not a single airbag deployed. I know certain sensors have to be activated to inflate an airbag so I feel I need to mention that this vehicle no longer resembled a Sequoia. No headlights remained, all windows were gone, the dash, hood and roof collapsed in on me. It took me five weeks to get behind the wheel again after feeling such helplessness. Last week I received a post card about Toyota recalls that involved my Sequoia so I decided to look it up. I got very sick reading the recalls and investigations that are related to what I experienced. It is very upsetting that I trusted Toyota for my family and that the accident could have been prevented.
