I was pulling in my driveway when this incident happened. When exiting my vehicle and opening the driver side door this is what occurred. The driver side sliding door cable snapped and could have potentially hit the driver or me and which could have injured a body part especially the eye or hand. It also made a loud popping noise. There was no warning lights that this would happen and now the door will not open which causes a safety hazard because in case of an emergency this door may need to be opened to escape for safety reasons. Thank you for the investigation of this matter.

The rear passenger side sliding door cable and motor assembly on the Toyota Sienna failed, causing the door to become completely inoperative (cannot open nor close) and the broken cable nearly cut my wife as it broke under tension and came flying out toward her as she was trying to close the door normally. The cable and motor had been replaced in 2015. The cable and motor on the rear driver side sliding door was also replaced in 2013 and 2017. The problem was confirmed by woburn Toyota (dealer) and reported to the manufacturer. The manufacturer has confirmed the failure and safety defect, but refuses to provide repairs. No warnings were provided, no recall was issued, and customers were not notified of internal safety bulletin pol12-02 issued by Toyota.

The car was parked in a parking lot and turned off. We were entering the vehicle and the automatic side door of the van failed to reopen upon sensing something in the way. The door closed and someone's foot with shoe was caught in the closed door.

My son was getting into the van via the driver side sliding door. His backpack bumped the sensor, and the door opened and froze halfway open. I disengaged the automatic opening, but the door had difficulty closing. I noticed that the cable to the sliding door had snapped. I was eventually able to close the door, but now the door will not open at all.
Both side power doors become inoperable if they sit open for more than a few moments. They do not close by switch, key fob, or by pushing. Starting vehicle does not activate or reset. Doors must physically be forced closed. It takes considerable force to close the door. Two complaints to dealer were ignored or Toyota dealer claims this is an intentional design. But has no rational reason for the defect being a design feature. This is a danger to people unable to physically close the door and presents a security flaw for users.

The dashboard is defective. Toyota acknowledge this defect, and issues a free replacement. However, Toyota claims the warranty period has expired, and will not replace my dashboard. Due to covid 19 lockdown, I did not get it fixed earlier, and was not aware that recalls have expiring an expiring date.

The driver's side sliding door is broken. We clicked the button to open it and the cable snapped. The car was parked and still in a parking spot on the side of the road.
The cable to my side power panel door snapped yesterday. It is hanging from the side of my car - what doesn't seen right is that the cable is rusty - it looks like it snapped because it is was exposed to moisture. The door is completely unusable - I cannot open it using the manual or power mode. My van is in my temperature controlled garage the majority of the time and there should be no reason that the cable is showing signs of rust other than a design flaw.
The front passenger side bumper snap(s) comes undone, by air flow, as vehicle travels down the road - this causes further tearing of the supporting plastic frame. Local Toyota dealership says this initially was caused by a driver of the vehicle hitting a concrete curb. Note: bottom of the bumper is only 8 inches from ground surface. The safety issue the bumper and its supporting plastic frame will eventually break and fall off vehicle while in transport. I have witnessed this several times on other vehicles (especially on Toyota's). Dealer compounds problem by saying entire bumper has to be replaced at high cost to customer. Customer delays repair (as I have). This causes further damage to the supporting plastic frame. I have gone from one snap to several snaps in duration. I sent corporate Toyota a complaint - essentially, they said they would not do anything .
The contact owns a 2010 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated that the driver's and passenger's side dashboard was sticky and melting. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, his view was obstructed due to the glare from the dashboard. Longo Toyota of prosper (2100 w university dr, prosper, TX 75078 (469) 850-6315) was contacted and informed of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The contact was provided information on regarding an extended warranty on the vehicle regarding the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the extended warranty information was sent out in 2016. The failure mileage was 65,000.
Lift-gate frame cracking around left hinge. Safety hazard as the lift-gate could become unsecured while driving, or during operation, resulting in injury or crash.

2015 Sienna 5tdyk3dc8fs653720 doors would not close after opening with the keyfob. Could not close doors with the engine running and using internal buttons on all locations had to manually close doors. The vehicle was parked. This happened twice recently, 6/12/2020 and 7/1/2020.
Sliding doors don't properly latched like they are suppose to when attempting to close door causing a safety issue for passengers . It happens when vehicle is parked or motion on road way or in parking space .
The cables for the rear power sliding doors snapped on my car causing the door to be jammed shut. When the second one broke approximately two weeks later it's snap back whipping nearly hitting my three-year-old son.
Both power sliding doors freeze shut any time there are freezing temperatures and any moisture, and cannot be opened either with power or manually. Attempting to open a door will only open it 1/4", sufficient to activate the dome lamps, but then will not close. After driving and warming up, the door may randomly open at any time, presenting a safety hazard.
Broken spare tire carrier. Seems to be a common problem on xle Sienna. I have 2005 le and my spare tire carrier is completely broken. Tried getting a replacement from 5 parts car Sienna and they were all broken as well! another common problems Sienna have are rack and pinions. They always leak. I owned a 1998 then a 2003 Sienna and they both leaked from the power steering pack. Spare tire carrier is a dangerous issue. Spare tire can fall off on the road and can cause auto accidents or serious injuries and serious damage to other autos on the road. Rack and pinion leaks leave oil on the floor. Steering locks up without power steering which can cause a serious accident.
On 12/20/19 in my 2014 Toyota Sienna the sliding door next to my 3 year old opened while I was driving. I was in the midst of accelerating after a light turned green when the car started notifying me that a door was ajar and the passenger-side sliding door started opening. The door opened fully and remained open as I was at speed in the middle of an intersection. Note that all doors were closed and latched before I put the vehicle in drive, and this only occurred after a few miles of driving. I took the car to the dealership and they replaced the latch assembly in both sliding doors. The dealership couldn't tell me what failed or if the replaced latches would solve the problem, so I called Toyota corp. I learned that Toyota already knew about this issue. When I asked if they could assure me that the sliding doors wouldn't open while driving again, they couldnt. They told me that they couldn't confirm that the latches were the problem, and while the replacement latch has a different model number than the original, they don't know if it is in fact a different part and if so, how. The only assurance that Toyota could give me is that of the people in your region that this has happened to, it hasn't happened a second time that we know of. The more questions I asked, the clearer it became that this could happen again. Please note that this issue is entirely different from the 16 recall that involved sliding doors opening while driving (all associated recalls had been performed by Toyota dealerships prior to this incident). We had not previously reported this to nhsa as we had assumed that Toyota reported this incident as part of our case with them.
The automatic closure on the rear sliding door does not close and lock the door in place. The sensor beeps but allows you to drive even though the door is not shut all the way and latched.

My vehicle has 138,000 miles and when I inquired about fixing the sliding door, I was told that the recall was over in 2016; however, I know of a person that was able to have his vehicle fixed by Toyota. In fact, Toyota replace both the door sliding components / latches. For my vehicle I tried getting Toyota to fix this last year and tried again today but Toyota will not cover these repairs. I want it documented that this VIN has not been fixed regarding the sliding door and should a serious safety issue arise in the future due to these doors, this will server as documentation. The issue began about 1 year ago when the driver side sliding door would not open. This year I had to take it on myself to try and fix the issue due to Toyota not willing to cover the costs. The cable for the sliding door had frayed and when the door was manually opened, it would only open some but not fully. The roller latch for this door also appears to be bent and now the door is close to hitting the side panel when opened; I had to remove the cable components myself to allow the door to open. I believe the estimated repair costs for having both doors mechanisms replaced is $4,000 and I cannot afford that costs. In 2016 I do not recollect being informed by Toyota regarding the sliding door issues and now my vehicle cannot be repaired for that service program has expired.
Sliding door cable snapped unexpectedly causing door to become inopperable. It is now jammed shut and will not open from inside or outside, causing a potential safety issue. This is second door where the cable has snapped and inoperability of door could become a safety issue if passengers need to exit. Toyota will not stand behind the door and asks upwards of $2k to repair.
Mechanism inside right sliding door cracked and door is permanently closed. Both left and right side the pully wire that opens the door snapped. Both doors now malfunctioned with one door completely sealed closed.

My van cut on fire last saturdar, September 1st 2019. For no apparently reason. I drove about 5 miles from my house to the grocery store, when I notice the smoke, I first though was the car in front of me. But was smoke coming from my hood. I was just about to stop at a stop sigh and I look the temperature gate and it was fine, turn of the car and people from the parking lot was already yelling for me to get out of the car. More than 2/3 of the van was totally destroyed in the fire.
Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated that when entering the vehicle while holding the roof handle on the passenger side of the vehicle, the handle fractured. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for a diagnostic test or repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that it was nothing they can do about the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000. Dr.
Both back sliding door cables snapped. Have been advised the motors siezed causing the cables to snap. Neither door works. Driver's side door can only open 6 inches. This is a safety hazard in event of emergency. My children can not get out of the car and can not operate the one door able to manually open. Fix has been estimated at $1900 per door. Toyota knows this is an issue. They issued a customer warrantee enhancement for it but it has expired. They refuse to reopen it. There has been a recall for this on the 2004-2009 model year and currently a recall for this for 2011-2018 models but not the 2010. There are hundreds of Toyota Sienna's on the road with this issue and it is completely unsafe and totally unacceptable that Toyota refuses to take responsibility for the 2010's and cover the costs to fix the problem.
Weld on fuel door is broken, is this a defect in the manufacturing. Fuel door will not close properly. I purchased used and I noticed it was broken first time I purchased gas.
3 issue with 5tdkk3dc2fs565851 Toyota Sienna 2015 le van *1 - seat belt - 2nd row driver side seat belt cannot be wear. Cannot wear seat belt as the red part that fastens the seat belt clip does not work. Unable to fasten seat belt in the 2nd row seat behind driver. 2* at 30,000 miles with proper careful driving brake lights turn on in rain - all the lights start to flash in dashboard. *3- front driver side bumber where it meets the fender does not hold bumper properly. The clips that hold bumper are not made properly. I have seen at least 4 Toyota Sienna with same issues at different places of same model / design. When push back to fix the number it stays and after short 5-10 miles drive it comes back loose again. So I have to keep pushing the bumper back. I have the van for over a year now.
