This tire separated at the side wall nearest the rim. The last one separated and swelled roughly the size of a ping pong ball, prior to that the same thing. This is the 3rd pirelli scorpion verde all season tire to fail. After this last one, I realized it's got to be something with the construction of the tire so I googled and found recalls for other pireeli tire models. I contacted the mfr and they refused to assist. Spoke with very rude individual at pirelli USA in rome, GA location who stated 'if I am concerned about the safety of the tire, report it to the NHTSA' and that in order to obtain a replacement I would have to contact the retailer to initiate a return. As instructed, I spoke with the retailer simple tire (trevose, PA), an individual named shailesh. I was told since there is no NHTSA recall therefore there is no replacement.

I have 4 bridgestone insignia tires. Not sure of mileage but I will go back to the dealer on Monday to confirm, however I will guess about 25k to 35k. The tread looks very good. I have steel wires coming out of the sidewall. There are about a dozens wires between 2" and 8" hanging out. I noticed it because you can hear the wires slapping the fender and tire well as rotation occurs. I hope the factory responds in a positive way, we will see. Dave.

215/65r-16 michelin defender sl; less 15k miles driven a cut through outer layers of sidewall and windings visible. Thought it was likely some unnoticed road hazard until happened to second tire: again, do not recall any incident likely to have cut the tire. In 40+ years of driving, only these two sidewall cuts, on same make of tire, make me wonder if the compound is inherently weak. Photo available of second cut.

2005 Toyota Sienna le ims rampvan I replaced all 4 tires w / pirelli 215 / 65r / 16 centurato p5s in may 2009 at approx 16500 miles, oem dunlops were unsafe according to a google search, I went to americas, they said the pirelli is the best, im a quadriplegic & I need a reliable vehicle we as we all do. . . . I had a flat tire, aaa changed it they said it had cracked sidewalls & cord was showing between the tire tread & the sidewall as if had been on a lathe, we took pics of the worst tire & we have 2 more of this brand on the front axle w / a similar wear patterns. . . Im a disabled certified mechanic & I have done 100s of alignments & I have never seen a wear pattern like this, we took it back to where we bought them to have it checked out, we did & they said the tire had an unusual wear on 1 side of the tread / sidewall & they needed to replace all 4 & the warranty did not cover it, so we had to buy 2 for the rear axle as that's all I can afford at this time. . . . . They told me it needed a 4 wheel alignment & all 4 shock absorbers replaced too. . . . My crookdar went off & I play dumb to see what they say & I start documenting everything. . . I have it checked out at the dealership. . . Took my Sienna into the Toyota dealership for its 40k service & told them what America tire told me, the dealer checked it out & said it didn't need an alignment & the shocks seem fine to them but might need replacing only because my vans 9 yrs old & that the 2 front tires are weather checked & are dangerous. . . . . . . So I google pirelli tire complaints & bam, theirs 1000s of people w / the same problems as myself. . . . . . So now I go to war w / americas tire & pirelli.

On March 3,2012 while returning from asheville,nc to our home in grayslake,IL with a full day of nothing but interstate driving our tire warning indicator light came on . We pulled off at the next exit by calumet city,IL. Assuming I just needed to add some air to the tire I was surprised to see the whole sidewall split open. We had not hit any sharp objects or potholes, but the run flat tire was ruined. As the 2011 Toyota Sienna awd does not have a spare aaa could not help to replace the tire. They could tow us to the nearest Toyota dealership, but when we notified the dealership they informed us since it was late Saturday afternoon they would not be able to take a look at the tire until Monday. We then made the decision to have the van towed to the Toyota dealership nearest our home(libertyville,IL) at our expense. Toyota gladly replaced the tire (with only 9400 miles of wear) for $283. 00 and told me if any complaints to take the tire to a bridgestone dealer. I informed the Toyota dealership that if the awd Sienna had a spare and if I would have known before purchasing this vehicle it did not have a spare I would not be in this predicament. I took the tire to the bridgestone dealer . He said it looked like the tire was damaged(it was not,it just split apart) and said he would send it to the corporate office to be evaluated. This was a month and a half ago with no response. I am afraid this will happen again.

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6) I purchased four firestone fr710 tires on August 27, 2009 from a local firestone dealer for my 2006 Toyota Sienna. Recently we noticed that the front right tire's tread was delaminating all around the perimeter of the tire where the tread meets the sidewall. In some places there was 1/2" of separation. Upon closer inspection it was found that two of the other tires were also starting to separate. This was evident due to small hairline separations running around the perimeter of the tires in the same region as the worst tire. These tires were all made within a week of each other with date codes of 1909 and 2009 (19th and 20th week of 2009). The dot number is w56v710. The VIN of the vehicle is [xxx] . The mileage at purchase was 49,328 and the current mileage is 61,491. Photos of the tires are available.
I purchased cooper life liner touring tires from kauffman tire. Within 2 weeks of purchase, one of the tires developed a large bubble on the sidewall. Kauffman staff told me this type of bubble was a result of "hitting a curb or other object. " I knew I had not hit anything. They replaced the tire with the same brand & model. As time went by, I had chronic problems with my vehicle pulling to the right. I visited kauffman several times. They adjusted my alignment and checked my tire pressure on several occasions, to no avail. Tuesday, July 3, 2007, I stopped by kauffman and told them there was apparently an underlying problem that caused my van to pull so severely that I had to struggle to keep in my lane. I requested that they do an in-depth check to determine the problem. They found that 3 of the 4 cooper life liner touring tires were defective, one had a bubble in the sidewall. Kauffman employee again told me that this type of problem was caused by striking a curb or other object. Again, I knew I had not hit the tire on anything. Kauffman employees replaced the tires with 3 new cooper life liner touring tires. On July 6, 2007, one of the new tires developed a huge bubble in the sidewall and left me stranded on the side of I-20 in alabama. An internet search led me to your website, where I found that the tires kauffman put on my vehicle in 2007 were recalled in 2006. I fear someone may be injured or killed by these failing cooper tires.

Three tire failures due to sidewall blowouts. Three out of four tires failed dunlop tires original equipment Toyota response: too bad, not our problem. Local dealer documented issue with tire rep.
Tire vibration in steering at speeds usually greater than 40 mph and most prevelant when coming out of a turn. Tires evaluated by tire store, speed balanced and rotated. Found the sidewall defective. Michelin x-radial dt p205/70r15. When defective tire was moved to rear problem did not occur, moved back to the front problem came back.
The run-flat tire on our Toyota Sienna awd went flat, requiring a replacement. Unfortunately, out of all the tire stores, only the Toyota dealer had a replacement tire in stock. Every other place required a minimum of 5 days to get the tire. We were out of town at the time. What was interesting, was that when they replaced the tire, they said there was a gash in the sidewall -- it wasn't anything that was driven over. What I found more interesting was when I talked to my brother in al who has the same type of vehicle, he said that they had to replace a tire earlier in the year, because of a rip in the sidewall.
We had a tire blow out through the sidewall recently. We drive a 2004 Toyota Sienna le fwd with dunlop sp sport 4000 a/s tires installed as oem. We had just barely passed 26,000 miles when we had a side wall blowout on the driver side rear tire while travelling app. 70 mph on the highway in south carolina. I pay attention to tire pressure and teadwear, so the tire that blew should have been inflated properly, and in this case I had already begun thinking about getting new tires because the tread was approaching the wear bars. This is a very poor-performance tire, and I'm amazed Toyota made a corporate decision to put these tires on their Sienna "family vans. " dunlop should be embarassed to even attempt to sell them.
While driving consumer heard a noise coming from the rear. Consumer pulled over, and noticed that the passenger's side tire sidewall separated from the wheel. Consumer was able to change the tire. Federal, super steel, p215/65r15, dot uxkw0303.
Tires firestone: fr680, p205/70r15 95s, m+s. On a Toyota Sienna 2002. 2 tires were completely worn down to nothing. Got Toyota dealership to do a wheel alignment & replace 2 tires for free since I had been going to them for all service & they never noticed the worn tires. Now one rear tire has a sidewall tear. I took it to a firestone dealer, and he said it's not under warranty -- just wear and tear -- rim had a slight dent so he deducted it was because we hit a bump or sidewalk. But there is also a crack in the sidewall as well.
The front driver side tire on the side wall contained 3 large splits, ranging from 1-2 inches. The other 3 tires had started to crack at the side walls. Consumer replaced all 4 tires. Ts.

Tire burst at less than 30mph. 3+ inch rip through exterior sidewall along radial line of tire. No impacts or other adverse initiating events. No signs of other puncture. My wife was accelerating from a stop light. We are in the DC area and still have the tire (at the moment) for examination. This is a brand new tire with about 1000 miles on it. (tiresize: p215/65r15).
At 65mph, tire sensor indicated problem. Upon removing the front left firestone affinity tire, found a 7. 5" separation between the tread and the interior sidewall, with the steel belt in view. Further inspection revealed similar wear on front right tire. Normal pressures and alignment had been maintained through routine service. Local firestone dealer claims tire was not defective, despite Toyota indications to that effect and similar experiences with other firestone tires. Although I have replaced all four tires, I have retained the defective tire to support investigation. Digital photos of the tire are also available. (dot number: w2vfait099 tiresize: p215/65r15).

Sidewall of tire delaminated or separated. (dot number: w2vf tiresize: p215/65r15).
Firestone tire p205 70 r15 experienced a hole in the side of the tire.
After driving about 2-2 1/2 hrs. My tire unexpectedly went immediately flat. My speed was about 60 mph, and I had 262 miles on my brand new car. After speaking to both the dealership and firestone, firestone deemed it was "roadside hazard" and not repairable. There was a gash in the sidewall of the tire. After all of the notices on these tires and my experience with them, I don't feel safe in my new car. (tiresize: p215/65r15)( dot number: tire size: p215/65r15 ).

All 4 tires on vehicle have "bulges" on the exterior sidewalls, did not check interior sidewalls. The left side bulges are the worst, the front being the worst of all. The bulges are nearer to the tread than the center of tire. There are apprx 3 to 5 bulges around the perimeter of the tires. There is no noticible performance issues at this time, but having all tires like this makes me very nervous. I did have a sidewall failure a few months after I purchased the van, but I attributed it to a low speed bump into a low curb as I was making a right hand turn into a gas station.
