Purchased my vehicle on 10/19/19. Shortly thereafter, I began experiencing the following: in the drive mode, the vehicle does not down-shift properly (a lag) to lower gears when slowing down from higher speeds(50-60 mph) to lower speeds (30-40 mph). It stays in 5th or 6th gear too long, causing the truck/transmission to "lug" down with some engine "missing" before it finally downshifts automatically. I have to drive in the sport mode and manually shift gears regularly to circumvent this problem. The transmission shift points are not set correctly, and/or the transmission torque converter stays engaged/locked in too long at higher gears when slowing down to lower speeds. This will eventually lead to transmission bearing failures and safety problems if the transmission-engine starts to stall/cut out. Toyota corporate has been non-responsive to my complaint submitted.

When I'm driving the truck between 30 and 40 miles an hour the truck feel like wants to stop and saunds wuird I think is the torque converter is not doing his job properly also that suspension is getting restless so bad and so quickly and the chats are so hard so I don't know if it is something wrong with it or it's just normal in the car and saw the things I've been checking on it 2012 Toyota and I had it for three years also it takes too long to heat up in winter time.

This Tacoma sr5 is brand new, about 400 miles on it so far. Noticing a lot of hunting by the transmission to find a gear it is happy with for a given speed and terrain. But the most concerning issue is that it pulses hard when slowing to a stop. Thought it was the brake rotors at first, but I put the transmission in neutral while braking, and braking in neutral works very smoothly. Seems more like the torque converter doesn't want to disengage. Also notice a whistling sound from the rear when accelerating thru approx 40mph. Will be taking it in to the dealer soon to have these things checked. I love the truck otherwise, and was planning to own this vehicle for 10+ yrs, but this is not a good start.
This Tacoma sr5 is brand new, about 4700 miles on it so far. Noticing a lot of hesitation between the 35-60 mph. After weeks of taking the vehicle back to savannah Toyota, its the torque converter. The vehicle has slow pick up and hard acceleration from a stop to position. Toyota says it's normal, but several other owners are having the same problem. I have attached the service order to the complaint.
While driving at 40 mph the vehicle acts as if it's not getting correct power and feels like transmission or torque converter is lagging the the vehicle back. This issue only happens at 40 mph and feels as if vehicle my die going 40mph down the road.

It's important to note that I own two identical 2016 Tacoma trd off road automatic and both have less than 10,000 miles. One is fine and the other has serious power train (engine/transmission) problems resulting in extremely slow acceleration and overall sluggish performance, transmission constantly shifting to compensate for lack of power, transmission slow to engage gears causing dangerous hesitation and surge, occasionally slamming into gear causing sudden jerk and lunge, cruise control in unusable due to constant gear hunting even on flat highway, vehicle is very unsafe in stop and go traffic due to hesitation and surging, and merging into traffic and busy high speed highway travel is a nightmare. The following business day after taking delivery I brought to dealer with the above complaints and was told that the computer needed to lean my driving style and it would take up to 5,000 miles. At one point dealership service tech, service adviser, and service manager acknowledged the problems and I was told that Toyota was already aware and working on a flash upgrade that they hoped would fix. I was told that I had no choice but to drive the vehicle and wait for the flash. Dealership personnel now deny any problems. I filed a claim with Toyota and dealer now refuses to try and fix the problems. This model is being shipped with very low transmission fluid according to the service tech which is certain to diminish the life of the transmission. He also said that something is wrong with the torque converter. I have filed a claim for repurchase but dealership is uncooperative and Toyota reports that after reviewing my claim that they were unable to verify any of my concerns. There are many owners reporting to be experiencing the same problems and to date Toyota has done nothing to resolve that I am aware of.

When driving the vehicle, upon reaching 35 to 40 miles per hour the vehicle starts to shake for about two to three seconds. After doing research on the computer and after having the problem diagnosed at the dealer, I was told that I needed a new transmission. Apparently there is a torque converter lockup problem. I was told that the TSB does not pertain to my vehicle because it is no longer under warranty. I believe that Toyota is deliberately trying to find a way to not have to fix the problem. If this is happening in other vehicles there is obviously a problem regardless of what the vehicles mileage is when the problem occurs. Toyota will generally stand by the products they sell and these are the vehicles my family has ever purchased. However, we will definitely never purchase another vehicle from Toyota again.

When stopped at idle engine speed, my 2007 Toyota Tacoma dbl cab prerunner v6 will surge / lunge suddenly. Although I have the brakes firmly applied, the truck will still move a little bit. I've damaged personal property because of it. No injuries (yet), but it'll sure get your attention when it happens. Also, the truck will sometimes accelerate a bit when you have taken your foot off of the gas. Nothing drastic, but it shouldn't do this. This is a major concern with me; enough that I won't let anyone else drive my vehicle for fear it may startle them and they may lose contrrol of it. This happens very frequently.
