4. 0l v6, dcsb, at, or package, 4x4, 41. 5k miles, cel on, tcl on, limp mode on, codes p2440 p2442. References a secondary air pump valve issue. Truck was started in the morning, reversed out of driveway, cel, tcl, and limp mode activated when put into drive. Unable to reach safe operating speeds due to limp mode. Veh was on city street when codes triggered limp mode. Failure of poorly designed valves and system causes valves to remain stuck open allowing a larger than normal volume of exhaust fumes to recirculate to the intake through all operating ranges instead of just engine start up. Potential for engine failure and fire.
