Vehicle has had a recall for the fuel pump since January. So far Toyota does not have a fix. It is dangerous to drive with this problem and should not take 6 months for them to find a fix.

Low pressure fuel pump recall back since Jan 2020 stating stall/crash condition can occur - can't drive this vehicle out of town any distance out of fear of breakdown - this an this vehicle has been plagued with drive line issues since day 1 with differential replacement after failed ncds claim and 4 dealer visits finally to get them to admit it was faulty (noting excess shavings) then transfer case housing leak - vehicle still makes noise and is sluggish at times with severe hesitation and no remedy in sight 7 months later for a low pressure fuel pump recall - Toyota gets away with whatever they want and the consumers have to put up with it and fight their puppet dealer stall tactics to remedy their defects - where is stronger government regulation to protect consumers?.

There have been several times I have gone out to my Tacoma that I can hear the fuel pump running on it's own. I heard it running one evening, while no keys were inserted and the truck was locked up. The truck runs rough most of the time and I have problems with it stalling and not wanting to start back up again. It will take 3 to 4 times turning the truck over before it will reluctantly will start up. Also the traction control button does not work anymore and the differential button when pushed on does not engage the differential. All of these issues have started at different times. The fuel pump running when no one inside it has just the month been noticed as well as the buttons. The stalling started to be noticed about 4 months ago and I at first thought it was due to it being not broke in or me not giving it enough gas, but it is almost every time now when I back up or go forward it can stall.
In December of 2019 my truck stalled on the highway under normal operating conditions and nearly caused me to rear end the person in front of me as I lost significant brake pressure. I immediately called the dealership but they claimed to have never heard of the issue. One month later, a recall is announced. Here we are in June (half a year later) and I worry every time I drive my truck that this may happen again. When will Toyota be held responsible for replacing the fuel pumps in these vehicles before someone is killed?!.
Ii bought the 1998 Tacoma at the Toyota dealer in johnson city, TN. In Nov 2019--I suspect the dealership knew about the fuel pump problem when I bought it . I am 64 years old and taking the truck on a vacation from johnson city to emerald isle n. C. In August 2020--very concerned about driving on this trip--I also thought I had a wonderful truck and am very disappointed having to drive it with the safety issue-this happened when I bought the vehicle one day in Nov. 2019.
Sometimes the engine will spit and sputter . Not always . I have heard that Toyota has a recall on the fuel pump on some models. My truck is a 2019 Tacoma.
Vehicle may stall while driving. Is the recall for the fuel pump. That needs replacing. I get warning lights. The check engine light goes on. I also get a low fuel pressure light that also goes on. I've gotten the recall notice a year ago. And every time I go to Toyota for an oil change they say that there's no fix yet for the problem. Its been a year already. What are they waiting for . For me to stall while am driving and kill someone or me. Unacceptable , am sick and tired of talking to the dealer. They seem to have no attention of fixing this dangerous recall.
Toyota sold this vehicle knowing of defective fuel pump - had issues day one with long crank cycles to start. Loud knocking of high pressure fuel pump reported also-probably related to low pressure fuel pump malfunction and cavitation at high pressure pump. I have also experienced rough idle and jerking. I contacted selling dealer in Jan 2020 after recall with no remedy issued and they stated that there was only like 1 vehicle affected - outright lie. There is class action suit for this defect in progress and over 2000 pumps had failed and Toyota knew about it. Other problems with vehicle including faulty differential and it took 4 visits and failed ncds claim for Toyota to admit it was defective and replace only after 12,000 lemon law limit in kentucky. Toyota and its' dealers are cover up artists. Sitting here still with vehicle unsafe to drive with no fuel pump even after 10 months - final remedy came in on Toyota owners website and called selling dealer and they said I had to go on waiting list for 2-3 weeks to even get the part - Toyota should buy back this vehicle.
Recalled fuel pump with no remedy- constant vibration from 20-40mph - automatically braking from shadows- automatically redlines when cold driving - various trim melting from the sun - power steering fluid disappearing told them at every service since new - again on March 25 was told truck was good - then on March 26 they tell me they are replacing an entire steering rack. Rear brake drums are loud and clumsy feeling - rear end whine - mpg 17 at the best- stalls shifting from d > r < d. This truck is a death trap. It is sitting at the dealership waiting for a fuel pump recall remedy. The auto braking and automatic acceleration has almost killed me and most likely would have a less experienced driver. Toyota of nashia nh have given me no updates. They have locked me into this lease without paying thousands to get out of it. The date of occurrence I put is a random date as all of these issues have been happening since ieased the vehicle brand new. Toyota of nashua of course can never replicate any problems. I need help ASAP getting away from this truck and I cannot get any help. I am 100 percent disabled veteran and needed a reliable vehicle not a death trap. Help me please.
My Tacoma has 17000 miles on it. Here lately I've been hearing a chirping noise coming from the engine bay. It doesn't start right away so I know it's not a pulley or a belt. I don't drive the truck hard because let's face it, it's powertrain isn't the greatest and shifts like a kid learning to drive a stick. Im sure the chirping noise is the high pressure fuel pump in the engine bay. For awhile thought it was normal until another Tacoma pulled up and it wasn't doing the same noise at all even asked the guy if his a/c was on to make sure we had the same setting. His was also a 2017 off road Tacoma.

Abnormal chirp or squeak noise from high pressure fuel pump. This happens while at idle and is a known issue for 2012-2013 Toyota scions too (attaching scion TSB with this complaint). Toyota replaced the fuel pump at 2,017 miles and in less than 400 miles the issue returned. The Toyota field technician said that Toyota is aware that there is an issue but there is no fix and no eta for a fix. Toyota is refusing to replace the high pressure fuel pump again. I opened a case with Toyota corporate and they sent it back to the dealer for authorization from the field technician. Again the field technician refused to authorize a replacement fuel pump. The dealer is lithia Toyota of medford, oregon.

Tl- the contact owns a 2015 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that while driving around corners at various speeds, the vehicle's wheels start to tremble causing the driver to lose stability. The contact took the vehicle to frontier Toyota 23621 creekside rd, valencia, CA 91355 where he was informed that the matter was normal vehicle operation. The contact also stated that while driving at 45 mph, the vehicle's fuel pump failed to operate without warning. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where the vehicle was inspected and replaced. The manufacturer had not been notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 69,000. Over a week my vehicle began to start intermittently, then it finally stopped starting. I had it towed to the dealership and they told me the wire harness connection at the top of the fuel pump had burned up pins, and they needed to repair the wire harness and replace the connector. To have burned pins in a wire harness means arcing of some sort on top of my fuel tank. My children sit right above that pump in the back of the cab. Fuel vapor and electrical arcing of any kind does not mix.
My truck recently started having problems turning on. I noticed it only happens when the fuel tank is half-full or just below half. The truck finally starts after 4 or 5 attempts and runs fine for the most part. Sometimes when I am driving it kicks a little, like it loses a little bit of power but quickly regains it. When the tank is full it starts with no problems. I have been reading online that it is more than likely fuel related, specifically the fuel pump. The truck is just a little over 40k miles and according to Toyota, the fuel pump, if that is the case, should last more than 100k before malfunctioning. I feel this is a big problem to start having with a truck that is still fairly new, and it is not cheap to replace. I am asking to please look into this as a possible manufacturer defect. Thank you.

From a dead stop to any speed, it felt like I no acceration. I would have to feather the gas pedal to get up to speed. I've replaced fuel filter, 02 sender ( front), maf sender ,fuel pressure regulator ,cleaned all grounds, had fuel pump tested , had head gasket checked ,changed spark plugs and wire's, cleaned throttle body and pressure cleaned fuel system. Every time I change a part or do any cleaning , the truck will run fine, for awhile , but the problem returns. I now have 150k on truck ,and I want to get 150 k more. I fell this is a extremely hazards situation. All I'm looking for is a answer to what's wrong!!!! Toyota is aware of what's wrong ,but the dealers only to keep replacing parts ($) . The Toyota forum s on web have 1000s of answer s, but, nothing definite. Please help!!!!.
