1 Transmission Noise problem of the 2019 Toyota Tacoma

Failure Date: 03/02/2020

Ii have a 2019 Toyota Tacoma 6-speed manual transmission. I am experiencing a rattling noise from the transmission whenever you are rolling from a low speed in neutral. You would be able to hear the rattle from the transmission intensify if ever you are rolling through a speed bump at low speeds in neutral.

2 Transmission Noise problem of the 2019 Toyota Tacoma

Failure Date: 10/02/2019

1. Vibration felt when slowing down. Usually between 50 and 20. Below 20 it goes away. Feels like the tires are out of balance but my truck has 8k miles on it and I have felt it since the day I bought it. 2. Also when the transmission is out of gear and clutch is out or the rear end makes a squeaking noise when hitting bumps. 3. Clutch makes a noise when releasing it. 4. High pitch hum in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th when maintaining consistent speed. Took it to the dealer, the dealer was able to replicate the issues with comparable truck on their lot and brushed it off as normal.

Failure Date: 09/01/2016

Tl- the contact owns a 2017 Toyota Tacoma . The contact stated that while driving approximately 30-40 mph the transmission would malfunction causing the gears to fluctuate between 3 to 4 gear. The failure was also present when assending up a hill, the transmission would fail to switch to the proper gear causing the rpms to increase and the engine to continuously rev. Also while in 1st and 2nd gear a loud chatter noise was present coming from the transmission. The vehicle was taken to the dealer jones junction Toyota located at 1504 bel air rd. , bel air, MD who re-flashed the ecu but the failure continued to occur. The contact was informed the manufacturer was aware of the failure but no remedy was available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 5,000. Jft.

6 Transmission Noise problem of the 2004 Toyota Tacoma

Failure Date: 11/12/2009

I was driving my truck to a work location and stopped at a t-intersection to yield to the normal traffic flow. While stopped, the engine began to rev up for no apparent reason. I was not touching the accelerator pedal, but had my foot firmly on the brake. At first, I heard the engine noise but did not realize that it was my vehicle making the noise. Then when I looked down at my instruments, I saw that my engine rpm's were above 1800 and staying steady. There was an audible clunk noise and the truck suddenly lurched forward (transmission engaging I would guess) and I pressed the brake with increased force to keep from rolling forward. Then the engine rpm's returned to a normal idle just as suddenly. This occurred with a warm engine after several miles of normal driving. While the same exact thing has not occurred since this incident, I have had at least one other episode where the truck's engine rpm's increased for no reason while I was stopped at a red light. The latter occurrence was not as severe as the first incident and happened within the last month or so. I wanted to report this because my truck is a Toyota brand and I have read about the recent recalls related to accelerator issues on some of the smaller Toyota passenger cars, but never saw any mention of this involving their truck products. As an engineer myself, I strongly suspect that this phenomenon is due to an electrical and/or computer malfunction and not some sort of mechanical or physical interference issue. I say this because of my own experience when I know for a fact that there was nothing interfering with the accelerator pedal and it was not stuck mechanically.

8 Transmission Noise problem of the 2006 Toyota Tacoma

Failure Date: 07/04/2007

When driving between 50-60 mph a noise and vibration appears as documented by many others and as being reported by the dealership and Toyota as being a normal characteristic of a Tacoma 6 speed truck. When using the a/c unit after waiting 24 hours or longer a loud noise upon engaging the unit can be heard. Toyota and the dealership explain this is normal operation, and the warranty does not cover it. Numerous other owners report experience this also. 3 6 speed transmission is clunky (noisy) and makes loud noises when engaging and disengaging the clutch. Also stated by Toyota and the dealership as normal, and reported by many owners from day one of ownership. Difficulty and failure to engage or low as well as the rr diff lock, also failure to disengage unless the vehicle is turned off. Reported by Toyota and dealership as normal due to non-use and requires a break in period. Owners report this from day one to as much as 40k miles. My vehcile has 12k and it performs as others and as I have described. Toyota and the dealership claim this is normal operation as designed. Steering pulls to the left even after alignment, and tire balance and rotation. Numerous painted areas have missing paint due to it lifts off the vehicle revealing the metal surface below without impact or damage as if it was poorly applied. Vehicle mpg averages 10-12 city and 10-15 highway way below listed and documented ranges.
