Transmission Shudder Problems of Toyota Tacoma

2018 Tacoma automatic transmission shudders, hesitates and misses at speeds between 35-60 mph. This happens constantly. Slight pedal and low rpm's in 5th and 6th gear is when it's most noticeable. On occasion, there is a more serious miss, which feels as if you have turned the ignition off at 50mph and then right back on. This does not happen frequently, 4 or 5 times in the 20,000 miles I've driven it. The shudder has been looked at by Toyota on 3 occasions, and has bee shrugged off as a "typical characteristic of the vehicle". Toyota north America made an appointment for me to see the service manager who rode with me and felt the shudder and missing. He had me test drive a 2019 v6 automatic off road and it also had the shudder and missing in the same range. The final outcome was that it is a characteristic of the vehicle and there is nothing that can be done. The fuel pump recall was done. The power train was re-flashed. No change in the condition. It is very unnerving and disappointing that they consider this condition acceptable.

Have a serious vibration in the transmission. Have took the truck in 4 times they did the upgrade on the computer it did help. Now the problem is back they have no answer's for me. Got told by 50,000 miles it should work itself out. Called Toyota to complain they are aware of the problems. I got told they have no answer's how how to fix the problem. My complaint is they have issues with the 2016 and 2017. They are not fixing them but yet still ripping people off buy selling trucks with a major problem. I use to love my Toyota but now I'm done and will never buy one again since they don't back them up anymore and rip people off.

Bought my 2010 Tacoma used. Did not observe any issues during long test drive. Very next day began to notice auto transmission not finding correct gear after slowing then making a turn; does not happen when truck is brought completely to rest with pause before the turns. I also notice transmission shudder at times when slowing in straightline; feels same as clutch slip / stall with manual trans if gear too high for speed. And my transmission downshifts too deep when I brake medium hard going downhill. I have begun to manually shift during turns without stops. Had dealer inspect transmission fluid & system at first oil change and discussed observations with service tech. Was told mine is fine, operating normally, & that these transmissions are hyper-active. Beginning to think my Toyota selection was a mistake. Does anyone make a trouble-free vehicle these days?.

I pulled out of my parking space, put the vehicle in drive, mashed the gas to go forward and the gas pedal stuck wide open. I floored the brakes to no avail. The rpm's buried below the red line. I was screaming and crying. I pushed the gear shifter out of drive through neutral to reverse and park. The transmission grinded. I was scared to death.
