The rear passenger window trim will come loose and could fly off and hit other vehicles. I have brought this back to the dealer twice and they claimed to have replaced it but it is still malfunctioning. Upon my investigation it seems like the actual door was not hemmed properly thus not allowing the window trim to seat and stay seated. The driver's side rear door does not have this issue. Furthermore, I have checked new vehicles in the dealer's inventory and found the same issue on multiple new vehicles at north park Toyota in san antonnio, TX.

06 Toyota Tundra sr5 with has severe frame rusting, to the point the truck has became a safety hazard. I tried to take the truck in for a fluid film coating and/or a ziebart coating, and they both said I shouldn't even bother. Hundreds of thousands of these trucks all had frame issues, and Toyota should step up to the plate and fix them.

I bought my 2014 Toyota Tundra in March 2014, with no chips or peeling paint. Fast-forward a couple of months, the paint around the top side of the windshield is chipping and peeling. Living in a state that gets snow & ice, I am concerned about the potential for rust. Toyota is aware of the issue with their super white paint with other models (service bulletin 23te08), such as the following: 2008–2009 Lexus GX 470 2008–2017 Toyota avalon 2008–2017 Toyota camry 2008–2017 Toyota camry hybrid 2008–2017 Toyota rav4 2009–2018 Toyota corolla 2010–2015 Toyota 4runner 2011–2015 scion xb 2012–2015 scion iq it is nonsensical to omit other models using the same super white paint from this recall.

Not sure how long the paint has been peeling on the truck, but the truck is immaculate except for the peeling paint. The paint was peeling at time of purchase, and we were told by dealer that it was covered as Toyota had issues with their white paint. After purchase, we were told that Toyota wouldn't cover it. The peeling paint is not localized to one spot but peeling on every panel. It is peeling off the top and all sides. The vehicle has always been stored under cover. We have never had a vehicle peel as this and have inquired with a few body shops that relate it to manufacturer defect and that the entire truck will have to be stripped and repainted to correct the problem. There were several models of Toyotas during 2014 that had the white paint related issues that Toyota corrected. Not sure, why the white paint on the Tundra’s wasn't included as it clearly has the same problems. After internet searching and speaking with dealers, this is a widespread issue. The truck is available for inspection. Peeling paint can pose several safety issues, especially with children. It also will cause premature aging of the vehicle making it more susceptible to rust and deterioration. The problem has been inspected and confirmed with a dealer.
In October 2024, my truck's frame exhibited significant rust, a defect that aligns precisely with a previous recall on this model. The rust has spread to critical parts, making the vehicle unsafe to drive. This directly threatens the safety of my son, who relies on this truck for transportation. The rust compromises the frame's integrity, risking structural failure and potential loss of vehicle control. This defect was not previously flagged by warning lamps or messages and was only recently discovered through visual inspection. This issue has been documented in the past and is consistent with a recall initiated a year ago. This recall specifically cited frame rust as a critical defect, and my vehicle is one of those affected models. Given the safety concerns, the severity of frame rust, and the recall history, the frame needs immediate replacement. This action is crucial to ensure my son's safety and prevent potentially life-threatening incidents on the road.

Frame has snapped after being denied a replacement by Toyota under their extended service campaign for frame issues. Dealer told customer to make a separate appointment for frame inspection while truck was in for unrelated service and campaign had expired while customer was in hospital ultimately ending with Toyota denying a replacement citing that customer was outside of date for service campaign.
On 4/19/2024 I arrived for an appointment at corwin Toyota of bellvue, nebraska for inspection of my vehicles known recall of the frame due to excessive rust and potential failure due to a faulty manufacturing process. My vehicle is a 2003 Toyota Tundra sr5, access cab. Upon arrival, the service representative, and later corroborated by his manager, refused to inspect my vehicle stating "work had already been done on my frame". That is not true. I am the original owner of said vehicle and had it inspected in approximately 2010 after being informed of the recall, likely at a dealership in denver colorado where I was residing at the time. At that time was informed vehicle frame did not have excessive rust and no work was done. The vehicle was purchased in colorado springs from corwin Toyota (same dealership franchise company?), in 2003. Since then, the vehicle has lived in nebraska and iowa for most of its existence where salt is used on roads extensively in the winter. I was informed by the service representative at the dealership they will not look at it as they show it has already had repairs done to the frame as I stated. This is false. No work has been done on my vehicles frame at any point and is now experiencing significant frame rust. At some point, maybe at inspection in 2010, maybe later, that some work had been done making the frame ineligible for future inspection or repair or replacement. I am sure Toyota and its agents, Toyota dealerships, are highly motivated to exclude as many vehicles associated with this frame recall as possible. I am certain I am not the only one experiencing this fraud on the consumer. Please investigate whom allegedly did work on my frame, when, and what specifically. I expect the ability to have my frame legitimately inspected and actual repairs or replacement of effected part(s) as resolution. I will be contacting the manufacturer but expect the same run around without your direct involvement. Thank you in advance.
This is the second chrome hood bulge that I've put on it and it keep breaking with the wind and just flys off. Also the collision light will come on by itself.

I was doing maintenance on front and lifted splash guard for access to bolt. On top of the frame, near the firewall, was severe rust. It looks as if the frame could crack at any time. If this happened in highway speed or in traffic, severe risk of injuries. These are known to have issues in salt states (had recalls) and I thought I checked it pretty good before buying. I think this may be from the air conditioning drain system.

On April 6, 2024 I was driving my 2006 Toyota Tundra when the brakes gave out and the vehicle went through the back wall of my garage. The brake fluid spilled onto the street and onto my driveway. There are 3 witnesses to this including a police officer. I am lucky that I was not a highway when this happened. I had the Tundra towed to a repair garage and they put it on a hoist. Two mechanics showed me the underside which is completely rusted , including some holes. They told me I would have continuous problems because of the rust. They also said that Toyota may have had a recall for my vehicle. I did the research and found that to be accurate. The recall includes millions Toyotas, including my Toyota Tundra, built between 2004 and 2008. So mine is eligible. However, Toyota did not contact me about the recall. Toyota did contact me about another recall involving the air bags. Toyota sent me a letter about the air bags. I still have the letter and I can send a copy if you wish. So, they have my name, address, and they know that I own the Tundra. But they did not contact me about the frame rust. Had they done so, I would have acted immediately. I purchased the vehicle in 2012, so it was a used vehicle. So, Toyota, obviously has had plenty of time to notify me, but they did not. I called Toyota and gave the person I talked to the VIN. She looked it up and told me there is " no service history of rust frame repair" for my Tundra" on their system. Toyota needs to rectify this. I expect that Toyota will pay for the rust frame damage, as they have for millions of other Toyotas, and for other damage to my vehicle, and other costs including towing costs, taxi service, the insurance deductible that I must pay for damage to my garage, two new front tires and other costs as they become known. This is only fair.
The frame of the vehicle has a recall on it because of excessive rusting. The previous owner had not gotten the recall fixed. The rusted frame causes issues with steering, maintenance, and general control and safety of the vehicle. Toyota dealerships claim this recall has expired. A rusted frame violated NY state inspection. Since this indefinitely violates the NHTSA guidelines and regulations, how can it expire? Toyota refuses to fix the recall on the frame due to “expiration” and would rather endanger roadways see as many of these vehicles still are driven on public roadways and come with a hefty cost due to the expiration. Many vehicles like this with under 100k miles have the same critical issue, leaving americas at a loss. This recall should not “expire”.

My 2022 Tundra seat panel start to fall apart. Front bumper coming out. Door rattle. Windshield distortion makes my visibility can’t see good. Windshield molding coming loose. The tires keep loosing air pressure and Toyota refuse to add more air pressure . Radio keep getting disconnected from my bluetooth . I have all video and evidence showing all this defected happen but Toyota will not fix under warranty. Toyota stated they will not fix the problem due to truck still working order running fine.

Vehicle was turned off and driver exited with key remaining inside of vehicle. Returned to vehicle to remove items from interior. The driver's door locked and was unable to unlock using its proximity sensor. I attempt to the Toyota digital key. The app alerted me that the unlock feature was not available at this time. Walked around the passenger door to find it to be unlocked. Tried to use the electronic door lock feature, it still would not unlock the drivers door. I had to crawl through over the passenger seat to the drivers door to manually unlock the door.

The floor inside of the bed is sagging everywhere it is bolted down to the frame. It has never had a bedliner. It has a crunchy sound when you step on these areas. I do not know how much damage is under the flooring at this time. There has been nothing heavy hauled in the bed. The rest of the bed is solid. If not repaired the bed will separate from the truck and soon.

2004 Toyota Tundra’s frame is abnormally rusted. The paint and the mechanical function of the vehicle is pristine however the frame has corroded and rusted egregiously. There was a class action suit a few years back but they failed to notify me of the open recall to replace and even on file there was never any pending notice of such recall for my vehicle although it qualified and I have been the only owner of the vehicle.
The passenger camera mount is falling out of these trucks on the highway ( multiple incidence’s from owners posts). Toyota corporate is down playing the occurrences and and saying repair is not covered due to cosmetics. It’s a safety feature and Toyota corporate closed my case.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? gas tank cover plate is rusting out causing the tank to almost fall out. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? my safety and others safety was put at risk as if the tank were to fall out, it could catch the vehicle on fire. Also as the plate rusts even more day by day, the heat from the exhaust and other parts that heat up it can damage the gas tank and once again is a fire hazard. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? no, there are no open recalls from what I can’t tell by the VIN but same year has same problems and are under recall. Not sure why this one isn’t under recall. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? no. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no, there would be no lights for an issue like this.
I took my truck to a garage for simple tire repair. I had a slow leak. In the process of trying to lift my truck, the technician hear 'crumbling sounds'. They stopped the lift immediately. Upon looking at the my chassis frame, the technicians saw major rust damage. One technician used flashlight to tap against the frame and he poked through it. The technician stated that this was not the first time seeing this problem on this truck model style. I contacted a local dealership. The individual I spoke with at the dealership also confirm rusting issues on the frame of my truck style model. I researched this on the internet to find out multiple complaints concerning the premature rusting of these frames due to poor quality steel and inadequate rust prevention coating. I reached out to my vehicle manufacture "care line". They stated they could not help me. My fear is my frame could break while driving and cause a vehicle accident. The worst frame damage is near the front wheels, both sides. The body, engine, transmission and all other safety components are solid and working well. Side note: my dad owns a 1992 full size pickup truck (different manufacture). The frame is still solid. My truck is 10 years newer and the frame is falling apart due to manufacture using poor quality steel.
My 2010 Toyota Tundra is like new and only has 56,000 miles on it. I ordered new tires and when I brought it to have the tires installed I was told me the frame was rusted through and they couldn’t lift it off the ground. They were concerned with me driving it and suggested that I bring it to my Toyota dealership and see what they could do. The dealership said there was nothing they could do because there was no recall on my vehicle. I asked if they could look at it to see it was safe to drive, and was told there would be a $167 to just look a my vehicle. I called Toyota customer service (800-331-4331) to complain and opened case# 23122000824. I called a frame shop to make an appointment to have it looked at and was told that they get lots of Tundra’s in with rotted frames. Apparently Toyota is ignoring this problem. They had an issue with rusted frames on the Toyota tacoma and they issued a recall.

Regarding my 2023 Toyota Tundra. The passenger side front window is non-operational, having come off the track and proving impossible to raise. Upon consulting the dealership, it was determined that the regulator and motor for the window require replacement. It has come to my attention that this issue is not isolated to my vehicle, as numerous reports on social media platforms highlight a recurring problem with faulty windows in this model. The prevalence of inoperable windows, whether stuck in the up or down position, poses a potential hazard. I urge the NHTSA to investigate and address this matter promptly to ensure the safety of all Toyota Tundra drivers and passengers.
Frame and suspension is rotted away badly was recall on frame in 2005.
I took the vehicle in for routine oil change. The technician advised on his notes: " safety hazard: there is very bad rust on the frame of this truck. The sway bar and engine mount looks like it could break free at any time" I then took the vehicle to my Toyota dealer who inspected the frame and advised they couldn't fix it and they did not recommend driving it due to the rusted frame.
Severe frame rust due to cheap frame material. Earlier year models were recalled but 05 and 06 were not, just a limited campaign. Frame looks like it has been coated before, but this is a known issue with these trucks. I have contacted Toyota and they basically said, sorry, we can't do anything.
I have a 2006 Toyota Tundra sr 5 with only 88330 miles. I had it inspected yesterday and was told that the truck may not pass next year due to the known issue of undercarriage rust. I had checked into this with Toyota in the past and was told that my particular truck was not covered by the recall for this rust issue. I am not sure why or how my truck was excluded from the safety recall but believe it was, and for me, still is an issue that needs to be addressed. The truck is in otherwise beautiful condition with an intact gold paint job and matching leer camper shell. In fact I get a lot of compliments and believe that it would be also in Toyota's interest to keep this classic on the road. I am hoping that they will work with me in this regard. When I drive my vehicle it is difficult to apply the brakes on it and I feel like if I press too hard (which might be necessary if I need to suddenly stop) that the brakes might break or fail somehow. I have also noticed that underneath my truck, the frame is rotting out in certain areas and the leafs (steel long plates near the rear of the vehicle) is bending out of shape. There is a clanking noise near the front of the vehicle that concerns me as well when I pass through a small bump.

Hi, I have a 2005 Toyota Tundra with 115,000 miles on it. I took it to my mechanic because of the rust underneath basically my frame and the mechanic looked at it and said it was rusting out so bad it was too dangerous to drive, I called Toyota and they said they had a recall on it and sprayed it that was back in 2014 here it is 2023 and I am afraid to drive it because it could cause a terrible accident for me or somebody else again my mechanic said it’s too dangerous to drive since Toyota will not do anything I am turning to you. I brought my 2001 Toyota Tundra into my dealer today, and he advised me that the frame of the Toyota is very rusted and cracking and close to completely breaking. He said Toyota issued a recall on this, but it is no longer in effect. I have learned this is a common issue with the 2000-2003 Toyota Tundras. Please advise!.

Heavy rust on frame as well as rusting out under support. Causing the bed of the truck to rub on the cab. Causing the frame to start to bend, I use his vehicle. To transport my special needs child. I’m wondering why, my vehicle? isn’t covered under the recall ???.
Rusted frame failed PA state inspection. This has been a well maintained vehicle and should not be experiencing that much corrosion.
