Paint Problems of Toyota Tundra

Also my 08 Tundra just like my 03 Toyota sequoia has the paint coming off the hood and very top of truck including chipping and pain coming off and clear coat, has to be bad paint there using.

Paint started chipping after 3 months. The truck is starting to rust now at a 1 and a half old. I notified the dealer about the chipping. They did nothing.

So long story short my 2008 double cab 6. 5 foot bed was taken back to the dealer for the factory or dealer (in mid 2009) installed plastic bed liner rubbing the paint off in the bed and discoloration of the back bumper or delamination as Toyota called it. Toyota replaced the bumper free of charge due to the corrosion warranty and the dealership not undercoating the back of the bumper, great no problem there. But never in any of the records did the service rep record that the bed could corrode! later to find out when taking the truck to get a spray in liner I dropped it off in August of 2016 later to get a call saying I should take a look at my bed before they did any work to find a hole rotten through the bed an paint that was bubbled, cracked and flacking off. I did some research on line to find a TSB for my exact problem. Its TSB-0101-12, I never got word of this till I dug online to find this! I took the truck to Toyota to be told they could not help me because there was no warranty. So I contacted the north east regional claims manager to be told that since there was no record of this complaint during the warrantee period they could not assist. Would anyone have any advice on where to turn I might trade the truck in to not have to replace the bed.

Paint bubbling or rusting in the floor of the bed of the truck. Numerous spots. Couple months out of warranty and they won't cover it.

We noticed that shine on the paint faded right away and we contacted Toyota body shop and was told that there were many complaints and that there was defective paint work on this model . They contacted Toyota headquarters and we were told by them that Toyota was fixing them . However Toyota refused to fix ours . . Paint looks terrible and the shine is all gone.

My 2001 Toyota Tundra has excessive frame & bed rust/ rot. I noticed some rust bubbles forming on the top side of the bed about a year ago. They have increasingly gotten worse and now they are almost rotted through in multiply locations. I maintain my vehicle very well. I wash both the top and bottom of the vehicle throughout the year, even during the new england winters. The bed rust/ rot is were the cross-member under the bed is spot welded. The frames coating/ paint is all flaking off and starting to rust/ rot excessively.

2003 Toyota Tundra has serious frame rot. The paint on the frame has bubbled up as the rust has proliferated leaving the entire frame in a compromised state. The rear axle and leaf springs are completely coated in rust. Driver's side rear drum brake locked up due to corrosion, which required replacing a tire and brake shoes. Vehicle has been dealer serviced since day one, with the exception of oil changes.

After about 45 days I started noticing scratches all over my truck. It had never been off road and had only been hand washed by the dealership. Toyota corp. And the dealership were of absolutely no help. Yesterday I bumped(and I mean barely bumped) the hood with the water hose while washing it, and it took the paint off all the way down to the metal! unbelievable! a $40,000 truck that is ruined! I will have to invest thousands of dollars for a new paint job.

The paint is chipping on door edges and body for no reason that I can find.

Frame/chassis is rusting at weld joints and mounts. Paint is bubbling and rust is visible below the cracked paint areas, which concerns me since I tow a 6,000 lbs RV trailer. I am also concerned that the vehicle might not pass the virginia state vehicle inspection.

I noticed around August 2006 one rust spot on the body of my 2005 Tundra, these grew to about 12 spots by 2007 and now I have about 15 small rust spots, the largest about the size of a quarter. They start out bubbling up the paint until the paint corrodes and falls off and the problem gets bigger. After several attempts to get Toyota to correct this (from October 2007 until now June 2008) I am attempting to warn all buyers to beware of the possible problem, and be aware of the promises you get from the van trow Toyota dealers from monroe, la. I was asked to give them a couple of months to "get to it, they were too busy", then I was told that mother nature has done this,,, in general, getting the run-around. This truck was parked in my carport, washed every two weeks, and still smells and looks new on the inside. I only have 23,000 on this truck, it was bought June 30, 2005. Yes, they are getting the warranty to run out. Can someone advise me who to complain to besides NHTSA? thanks.

Paint on front bumper came off when washing at carwash. A friend has a Toyota car that had the same thing happen. The dealer will not fix under warranty. This is clearly a defect. They offered to have the local guy fix while he is on the lot.

2001 Toyota Tundra limited. Frame is rusting very rapidly, tried to paint frame where I could reach,but paint flaked off after just a few weeks. I talked to local Toyota dealer, they said there was nothing they could do.
