1 Equipment problem of the 2018 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 05/06/2026

The upper grille and hood trim assembly on my 2018 Toyota Tundra 1794 edition failed and partially detached from the vehicle due to apparent mounting clip and retainer failure. The failed component is available for inspection upon request. Photographs of the damage and detached trim assembly have been documented. This failure created a significant safety risk because the panel could have fully detached while the vehicle was in motion and become a roadway hazard to other motorists. The detached component also created concerns regarding possible interference with the front grille assembly and Toyota safety sense components located behind the grille area. Prior to the failure, there were no warning lamps, dashboard messages, or other electronic warnings indicating a problem. There were also no visible signs of impact damage or collision that would explain the failure. The condition appears to have occurred during normal vehicle operation. The vehicle currently has approximately 76,900 miles. After researching the issue, I identified multiple reports from other Toyota Tundra owners describing similar failures involving the upper grille garnish, mounting tabs, and retaining clips on this generation of Tundra vehicles. At this time, the issue has not yet been formally inspected by Toyota, law enforcement, insurance representatives, or an independent repair facility. Dealer confirmation is currently unknown. However, based on visual inspection, the mounting clips and retainers appear to have failed under normal operating conditions.

3 Equipment problem of the 2022 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 04/26/2026

Acceleration lag/hesitation, we are in the intersection fully stop yield before we go left. Step on the pedal to go the truck go a little bit then suddenly lose power for a seconds and try to accelerate again just go. The car behind us almost hit me.

4 Equipment problem of the 2024 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 04/17/2026

My vehicle sustained a flat tire after driving. I was able to make it home safely. Vehicle was taken to dealer who found no evidence of a nail. This is the second incident. The first incident occurred while I was driving but thankfully I was able to pull into a gas station. After research I found out that the tires on the new Toyota Tundra have had weak side wall issues causing the tires the explode or wear out prematurely. I have tire warranty through Toyota. I believe Toyota offered this warranty due to their knowledge of the tires being defective. Other issues have been the wheel alignment and premature thread wear which is also a known problem with these vehicles.

5 Equipment problem of the 2003 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 03/31/2026

I own a 2003 Toyota Tundra (VIN: [xxx] ) that was subject to Toyota’s frame corrosion recall (limited service campaign a0f). The vehicle was inspected by Toyota in January 2011 and confirmed to have no perforation. In March 2012, Toyota applied a corrosion-resistant compound as part of the recall remedy. Despite this, by may 2013, a structural component (spare tire carrier) failed due to severe rust and detached from the vehicle. This occurred shortly after Toyota performed the corrosion protection treatment. This raises concerns that the recall remedy was not effective in preventing continued structural deterioration. Frame corrosion can impact vehicle safety, especially if critical components weaken or detach. Toyota has declined any further review or assistance, stating the program has expired, despite evidence that the corrosion continued after their repair. I am submitting this complaint to request investigation into the long-term effectiveness of the corrosion protection remedy applied under this recall program. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

6 Equipment problem of the 2025 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 03/29/2026

Center console glossy trim around the gear shift gives off a blinding glare from the sunlight coming through the front windshield. Almost side swiped the adjacent vehicle on my right when blinded. This was noted and photographed after just owning the vehicle for one day. Talked to Toyota corporate who told me to take it to local dealership. Toyota of fort worth said there is nothing they can do and referred back to Toyota corporate. Toyota corporate has yet to respond. The start/stop is faulty. Engine does not turn off at red lights (bypass not activated). At red lights, the "press brake further to activate" light will come on, the truck will shake, then the "battery charging" warning light will come on. Dealership response is I am not breaking hard enough or I just need to learn to press the bypass every time I start the vehicle. The vehicle will automatically turn off the engine when I park the vehicle, but as soon as I take my foot off the brake (while still parked in the driveway), the truck will automatically restart. Basically, the start/stop does not work while driving but will work when parked. Per Toyota of fort worth service dept, that is normal operation.

7 Equipment problem of the 2024 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 03/25/2026

I went to the dealership near me to get the following recall completed: manufacturer recall number26ta02, NHTSA recall number26v038. The recall was stated to say that the rear backup camera would sometimes not show despite being shifted into reverse, which I had experienced multiple times. After the dealership performed the software update to fix this issue, I have experienced the issue multiple times since. So the issue is not fixed and the update from Toyota failed.

8 Equipment problem of the 2024 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 03/19/2026

Nhtsa 26v-038 indicates potential issue with vehicles that may not meet the rear visibility requirements specified in fmvss no. 111, paragraphs s6. 2. 1, which may increase the risk of a crash with a person during a backing event. . Recall status indicates "recall incomplete, remedy not yet available". It has been over 30 days (1/23/26 to 3/19/26) since this safety recall was filed. This is the 3rd unresolved safety recall to date on this vehicle. This has been an unreasonably long time and Toyota should be compelled to initiate the remedy immediately and provide a detailed explanation as to why it is failing to meet its own code of conduct with respect to product safety and the law.

9 Equipment problem of the 2023 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 03/15/2026

I am reporting a recurring safety issue with the power windows on my 2023 Toyota Tundra. Specifically: 1. The driver-side window and front passenger-side window have stopped moving partway during operation. The window halts halfway, the window becomes stuck and cannot be closed even when attempting to push the window up manually with my hands. 2. The problem has occurred with two separate windows on the same truck. 3. This behavior has occurred under normal operating conditions and appears similar to reports from other 2023 Tundra owners, suggesting a possible design or manufacturing defect. 4. The issue could pose a safety risk, as the window may trap fingers, limbs, or objects unexpectedly, or fail to close during adverse weather or security situations. Actions taken: •I have taken the vehicle to a Toyota dealer for inspection and attempted repairs. •the dealer has documented the issue in service records, but the problem has occurred in a different window. Additional notes: •I am aware of multiple owners experiencing the same issue with 2023 Tundras. •I am submitting this complaint to request that NHTSA investigate the potential defect and assess whether a formal recall or safety advisory is warranted.

10 Equipment problem of the 2020 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 03/09/2026

In a 2020 Toyota Tundra, 1794 edition (60k miles), traveling at normal highway speed, the moonroof glass panel spontaneously exploded. There was no previous damage or modification to the moonroof panel. Panel explosion was extremely loud and surprising. Large pieces of glass were blown back onto the highway. If the shade was not drawn at this time, large amounts of glass would have also rained down onto the driver and passenger of the vehicle. Clear dash camera footage shows speed under the speed limit, and no impact from any sort of debris.

11 Equipment problem of the 2022 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 03/05/2026

While driving my 2022 Tundra my reverse indicator light and back up camera began flashing while approaching an intersection. I stopped at the intersection to wait for the green light for a left turn onto the highway. I shifted into park and then back into drive but reverse indicator and camera kept flashing. After completing my left turn and accelerating to approximately 40 mph I heard a loud bang and my rear wheels locked causing me to slide sideways narrowly missing other vehicles next to me. After a second the wheels started spinning normally. The reverse indicator and camera continued flashing. After slowing I turned my hazard lights on and slowly drove the vehicle directly to the Toyota dealership. I told them what happened and provided a video of the flashing light and screen. I told them that the truck was no longer safe to drive and that I was fortunate that I didn’t cause an accident. They ran diagnostics on the vehicle which had many error codes for various modules. They have cleared the codes and are requesting that I take the vehicle back. They reported that they could not replicate and no repairs were made. I don’t think the vehicle is safe to drive with the possibility of it happening again in a more dangerous location at speed or with my family in the vehicle.

12 Equipment problem of the 2003 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 03/01/2026

The frame was undercoated incorrectly and is actively falling apart. Super unsafe to drive. Very clearly was not undercoated correctly as there is areas in the frame that have no signs of undercoating. This is putting the driver of the vehicle at risk as well as the other drivers on the road. This is a huge recall that was issued for this model of year truck. Very common. The vehicle has not been inspected by the dealer as they refused to inspect it or even acknowledge the issue. There is no warning lamps on but it is visibly unsafe to drive.

13 Equipment problem of the 2023 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 02/20/2026

Panoramic sunroof on 2023 Toyota Tundra spontaneously exploded while driving. The glass exploded upwards shattering glass everywhere onto the sunroof shade cover and into the truck bed. If the shade wasn't closed, the shards of glass would have fallen into the cab into the drivers face while driving. This incident was due to a defect of some sort and not cause by any external factors or objects.

14 Equipment problem of the 2023 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 02/05/2026

Had recalled engine replaced on 12/6/25. On 1/22/26 took vehicle into dealership with issues with vibration in engine and hesitation at certain speeds, tonight 2/5/26 engine completely lost power at 65 mph on highway, dashboard flashing with every error to be had for Toyota engine. No power, rolled into emergency lane. Put hazards on. Turned engine off. Waited and engine was re-started and made it home. Extremely dangerous situation!!!.

15 Equipment problem of the 2023 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 02/04/2026

The monitor loses connection and requires a pin to come back up. While driving, following map directions, this requires you to try and do this while driving. Very dangerous. Especially in heavy traffic at speed . Thank you.

16 Equipment problem of the 2023 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 02/04/2026

1-2 second period of no throttle response from a rolling stop, then a sudden lurch of acceleration. This happens all the time with my family in the car and its really scary.

17 Equipment problem of the 2022 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 01/30/2026

Hesitation/lag acceleration and stop.

18 Equipment problem of the 2012 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 01/24/2026

Product almost set my car on fire, luckily I was stop at a car wash when one the cleaning crew members noticed smoke coming out from under my hood my hood , I opened the hood and the actual light bulb was on fire, it burnt my original hardness of my vehicle and the housing of my head light.

19 Equipment problem of the 2026 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 01/22/2026

The tailgate remote operation is inconsistent. It usually does not work and the tailgate has to be lowered by randomly applying pressure in different spots. Nothing seems consistent. Once it opens then it may work a few times then goes back to not working. This is true regardless of the "switch" used (key fob, button on rear of vehicle in tail light assembly, button on the gate itself, switch/button on dash). I had it in the dealer 2 months after taking deliver and they told me it was fixed now a couple months later it is happening again.

20 Equipment problem of the 2023 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 01/18/2026

Vehicle stuck in 4wd hi after switching it from 2wd. Would not go back into 2wd. Did all the preventative maintenance including driving in 4wd hi once a month. Dealer claims is a switch outside the powertrain that is getting stuck. Replacement part ordered and will arrive in 4-8 weeks. Dealership saying I’m outside my warranty and part/labor will not be covered. My safety was put at risk d/t not being able to make appropriate turns when driving while truck was stuck in 4wd. No warning lights indicated 4wd system was not working appropriately. Truck would continue to show 4wd no matter what drive system I tired to use. Truck had no issues with 4wd system prior to this incident.

21 Equipment problem of the 2022 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 01/17/2026

When I came to a stop, everything seemed normal, but when I went to take off again the truck just… didn’t go. I pressed the gas and it kind of sat there, like it was thinking about moving but not actually doing it. The engine stayed running, no sputtering or dying, but it wouldn’t engage. It took a solid 10–20 seconds before it finally decided to move forward, and even then it felt hesitant. The whole thing was weird and definitely not how it should behave.

22 Equipment problem of the 2024 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 01/17/2026

I was stopped and went to pull out of the gas station. With my foot on the throttle I pull out. And it would not accelerate. I had to pump the gas pedal I almost got hit by oncoming traffic due to the lack of acceleration this has happened multiple times very dangerous.

23 Equipment problem of the 2025 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 01/15/2026

While trying to quickly accelerate there is a very noticeable lag between accelerator pedal and vehicle response. I would say ~250-500ms, which in certain situations is extremely dangerous.

24 Equipment problem of the 2024 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 01/14/2026

When initially starting the vehicle, when at a complete stop, the vehicle lags when pressing the accelerator. It’s almost as if the vehicle doesn’t recognize that I’m pressing it at all and I have to reset my foot and start the process over. There is a slight incline hill that has a stop sign that I come to everyday after work and this happens maybe twice a week.

25 Equipment problem of the 2023 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 12/29/2025

My reverse stopped working, it just shows a black screen when I switch to it. The rest of my entertainment console works, it's only when I put it in reverse that it goes black. I saw that there was a recall issued for 2024 and 2025 Toyota Tundras, but I believe that the 2023 should be included as well. It looks to be a common issue, as I saw 2023 Tundras with a higher trim package also had a recall for the backup camera.

26 Equipment problem of the 2025 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 12/29/2025

I was driving down the highway about 5 minutes, it was 34 degrees outside, family in car (with baby). No cars in front of me at all, didn’t drive through an underpass, didn’t hit any potholes, and out of nowhere the front panoramic sunroof exploded. It sounded like a gunshot in my truck cabin. Thankfully I keep the sunshade closed or else glass would have flew into my pregnant wife’s face and my baby’s face. I believe most glass was captured in my sunshade, going to the dealership first thing tomorrow morning. Not excited on what the response will be, google shows a lot of mixed reviews. This is a 5 month old truck, very frustrating to have this happen to my first brand new vehicle.

27 Equipment problem of the 2023 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 12/24/2025

While driving today the engine check light turned on, and the engine turned off (stalled) while in the middle of the road with a good amount of traffic around me. I pulled off to the side of the road and gave the engine a minute. I turned the truck back on again, the engine sounded very rough turning on and rough while driving. After a minute or two of driving, the engine light turned on again, and the engine stopped (stalled) again while in the middle of the road. I stopped this time for two minutes or so and turned the engine on again. I then proceeded to try to make it home, which I accomplished, but the truck's engine sounded rough and with a chattering sound (engine knocking) even when idling. I have received a recall notice letter concerning " certain 2022-2024 model year Tundra vehicles engine may stall during driving. " I possess the letter with the NHTSA recall number and the Toyota recall number. In the letter, it mentions the condition for which it is being recalled. The conditions are as stated in the letter. "machining debris may not have been cleared from the engine when it was produced. In the involved vehicles, this can lead to engine knocking, engine rough running, engine no start, and/or a loss of drive power. A loss of drive power while driving can increase the risk of a crash. " my truck has experienced all of the disfunctions that are stated in the recall letter. I would like for Toyota to look into this and remedy this problem before it ends in a major fatal crash or any other unfortunate circumstance. Thank you!.

28 Equipment problem of the 2026 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 12/24/2025

Sometimes at a red light or stop sign, I go to take off and the truck will hesitate for a second or two. I press the pedal down aways and then it lurches and takes off slowly. Been happening regularly.

29 Equipment problem of the 2022 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 12/23/2025

When pressing the gas pedal, there multiple times where my vehicle has lag time in acceleration, which can lead to a delay of getting on the road and potentially causing an accident. There have been no manufacturer warnings and no warning lamps illuminate when this occurs.

30 Equipment problem of the 2022 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 12/22/2025

Truck fails to accelerate from a stop. This is an intermittent issue. Dealer failed to duplicate.

31 Equipment problem of the 2006 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 12/20/2025

The frame has rusted so badly that the sway bar mount disengaged from the frame. Brought it to a Toyota dealership and confirmed that frame recalls were performed on earlier models with the same issue . However my year did not qualify.

32 Equipment problem of the 2023 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 12/13/2025

When accelerating from a stop it has a severe delay. I’ve read now this is not normal. Sometimes the delay can be 1-2 seconds causing confusions at like stop signs and such as I’ve pressed the gas and get nothing. Not reported to dealership but will on next oil change as this has been a persistent problem since purchase.

33 Equipment problem of the 2024 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 12/13/2025

Throttle hesitation from a stop, when pressing the accelerator truck does not move then suddenly will accelerate. This can cause delay when pulling in or out of intersections / traffic making it a safety hazard as the driver is not in control of the vehicle as it is random when it occurs. Multiple other vehicle owners of the same make model of this year and others of the same generation have made the complaint and nothing has been done to solve this issue.

34 Equipment problem of the 2024 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 12/10/2025

At a stop, there is a delay when accelerating. It almost feels like it is "thinking" before it starts to go. There are no warning lamps. It is unsafe when pulling out of highway because of the uncertainty of when the vehicle feels like its going to go. Some call it turbolag but it feels more than that.

35 Equipment problem of the 2024 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 12/10/2025

Vehicle consistently exhibits throttle lag from a stop. It is almost like the engine is not responding to the throttle input. This condition is unsafe when pulling into oncoming traffic as the vehicle does not accelerate and then lurches out into traffic as it finally responds to the throttle input.
