Door actuators are defective. Manufacturer used defective internal plastic part, resulting in doors not locking, not unlocking, and not functioning. Children cannot exit back door without manually unlocking the door.

The integrated brake controller works intermittently. Receive two errors that state "trailer wiring type or connection fault" and "pre-collision system malfunction". After the error is received, the trailer brakes no longer function. If the vehicle is turned off and on again the errors go away and the brakes will function again. The problem seems to occur most often when using the manual switch on the controller. Both truck and trailer are new (less than 6 months old).

Hello, my name is carla drew and I am contacting you regarding a recent safety issue my parents experienced. This is what happened: driving down the freeway at 70 mph, my dad went to adjust his outside mirrors. When doing so, his finger brushed the "fold" button by accident, and the outdoor side mirrors folded in. He wasn't aware that he touched the button as he has never used this feature in the past. Needless to say they are now driving 70 mph in a very large truck and do not have a clear safe view as they have to change 4 lanes to exit the freeway and then navigate to a safe area to try to fix this issue. The following information has been copied and pasted from the owner's manual. " when you are heading into a narrow parking space or garage, press the "fold" button in the upper right corner of the side mirror controls, just to the left of the steering column. Both mirrors will fold in toward the side windows. To put them back into driving position, press the button again. " it is my opinion that this feature is dangerous. The feature should only operate at an extremely slow rate of travel. This feature is only needed in tight parking spots and should not engage at high rates of speed. The owners manual even states not to drive the car with the mirrors folded. But if you do not know how they were engaged, how do you know how to rectify it while driving down the freeway at 70 mph? it is an accident and a lawsuit just waiting to happen. Thank you.

Factory onboard intigrated trailer break controller does not work as specified. When set to manual electric breaks none of the gaine settings work. The manual override works but not the trail breaks. If you switch to electric over hydraulic the breaks grab and are unsafe. Also the vehicle comes standard with a towing package but towing mirrors are optional. A very expensive option. When installed on the Tundra platinum you loose all other safety functions of the standard platinum mirrors. You loose the outboard clearance lights, the blind spot monitor, the automatic diming function, the memory function and the puddle lamps. This needs to be addressed with Toyota. All of these are safety items.

Integrated trailer brake controller not working. Set at its highest rating it still did not work. Checked trailer brakes with another truck and they work. Applied the brakes with the manual activator and no brakes. Came close to having an accident. Will be meeting with dealer on this issue. Research on the internet shows that this might be a common problem.

Ordered and received 2017 Toyota Tundra pickup truck with work package. Per Toyota, "work package" removes electronic options such as power seats, windows and locks. The problem here, is that there is no keyed cylinder lock installed on the passenger side door, therefore--removing the electronic door lock, also removes all means of entering the locked passenger side of this vehicle, except by unlocking the driver side door, and crawling over the seat to manually unlock the door from the inside. Toyota does not state lack of passenger door access in any of their published information concerning the "work truck package". I am very concerned about safety issues pertaining to this by eliminating all exterior access to the passenger side. In an emergency situation, for any reason the driver's side door is either inoperable or unaccessible, there would be no quick, easy way to enter the vehicle with a simple turn of a key -- only option would be to break through a window, if possible. I find it very disturbing that a major automobile manufacturer purposely eliminates vehicle access due to financial reasons, overshadowing safety reasons.
Factory integrated brake controller does not work efficiently. With the ibc gain up to 10, the trailer brakes are not activated enough to slow the vehicle in a normal or emergency situation. The manual override slide bar barely engages the trailer brakes, it will not lock the trailer brakes as designed. Vehicle brakes begin to get to hot to slow both the truck and trailer coming down hills, extremely dangerous!.
The gear shift lever housing broke while shifting from drive to park. Fortunately I was in a parking lot and not someplace where I would cause a safety issue. I was unable to shift until I took apart the plastic covers and figured out how to work the shift linkage manually. The shifter housing piece appears to be a fairly thin piece of cast aluminum and broke in several spots. A search on the internet shows that this is a fairly common occurrence.

My vehicle now has a little less than 70,000 miles on it, and has a feature which automatically locks the doors at 15 mph, then unlocks them when the transmission is put in park. However, the doors will no longer lock unless I do so manually with each door; the power mechanism has failed. The dealer claims that the central relay and controller of the power lock system is ok; but the power lock actuator (small motor) on each door has failed individually. I find it almost impossible to believe that each one of these parts has failed in the same vehicle relatively early in the life of the vehicle unless there is either a faulty design or extremely poor quality of the parts involved. In either case, the manufacturer should be responsible for the cost of the repair, which the dealer estimates at $1,746. 00! please help me with this if you are able to put some pressure on Toyota. I would appreciate it.

My 2011 Toyota Tundra has experienced issues with the internal climate control system from day 1 of purchase. I have discussed this with Toyota and have had in for service at least 5 times. The recirculation button (which is electronic, not manual) will automatically switch off while driving every three (3) minutes and allow outside air to flow in. While quite annoying at times, it is especially dangerous when I visit my cabin in julian California in the winter, and the switch to outside air blows in the outside 20 degree f weather, while driving 20 miles down a very dark (no lighting) and very curving road populated by many deer. My attention is focused on the center climate center, and not the road ahead. Toyota has given me many explanations, several which were incorrect, and now they just concede that it's working exactly as designed. Their rehearsed answer is that all cars should only be driven with the outside air coming in to avoid recirculated moisture damage to the interior. This does not work in freezing weather! I've been on the web to the Tundra forum, and others voice the same complaint. An air recirculation control which will not stay engaged and allows in extreme cold weather, diesel fumes, etc. Is a safety issue. Toyota has shown me the the options within the computer, and there are apparently no options to override this issue. Any help or assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, joel & vicky morrison.
