On 11-5-2019 I was driving my 2001 Toyota Tundra, down a city street at approximately 30 mph when I heard a loud snapping, breaking noise and the right front of my truck collapsed and truck veered to the right. My first instinct was that I had a blowout. There was entrance to circle k approximately 40-50 feet away. Skidding along I was able to steer the truck into the driveway and off the street. When I got out to check I saw that the right front tire had collapsed under the vehicle had skidded on the tire and rim. The tire was still holding air but was scraped down to the cord. There were no potholes or any debris in the road. I had my vehicle towed to my mechanic, primarily japanese, and had it diagnosed. Ball joints were completely broken and also ruining abs speed sensor and brake hose. See attached invoice. Mechanic also did a diagnosis on the entire front end. On 11-14-2019 per the advice of my mechanic I had them rebuild l ball joints and lower and upper control arm. See attached invoice. I still have not replaced the r control arms which they have advised I do ASAP. It was extremely fortunate that myself or no one else was seriously injured.

Takata recall 2006 Toyota Tundra sr5 4x4. Purchased about a year ago. Power steering failed a couple months in while driving to work. Found fluid leaking I crawled underneath and founf the entire frme rusted and both anti roll bar links have separated from control arms. The bushings and nuts were missing and the powersteering link is from rotted boot on the pasenger side.

Tl the contact owns a 2006 Toyota Tundra. While the vehicle was undergoing routine maintenance, the independent mechanic discovered that the subframe near the front passenger side axle area was rusted with holes present. In 2015, the vehicle was inspected by kramer Toyota in port charlotte, FL and no rust was found. In addition, the contact indicated that the front brake lines, control arm, steering rack, and ball joints were all replaced by an independent mechanic due to rust and corrosion. The failures were not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The dealer was not contacted for the recent failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 157,000.

I was driving on the interstate at 70 mph when the lower control arm came apart from my ball joint on the driver side. My wife and I spun uncontrollably with sparks shooting everywhere. We were able to come to a stop once the vehicle dug itself into the dirt of the median. It was such an embarrassment for myself as I have held the name "Toyota" to the highest standard before all other auto maker. After the incident, I am now doing research and there had been a similar recall in 2005. I moved to a different state during this time and did not receive or know of a recall notice. I service all of my vehicles myself and very seldom take them into the dealership.

My 2000 Tundra truck is denied a safety inspection for corrosion of the vehicle frame. Toyota corp limited recall time period 4-2010 to 2012 resulted in a deliberate failure and nullify effective repairs to the substandard materials used on the steering, suspension and vehicle frame integrity. I contact Toyota corp 1-800-331-4331, [xxx], supervisor case management dept. For help to address the n. H. T. S. A safety concerns and compliance agreement of 2010 with Toyota corp, 2000 Tundra recall. This letter is an official complaint to n. H. T. S. A requesting a follow up investigation base on Toyota corp failure to comply earnestly and an ineffective recall time period, to ensure public highway safety concerns of Toyota Tundra owners with vehicle defects needing a safety inspections of potential hazard of falling spare tire, fuel tank, defective ball joints, lower and upper control arms. Toyota corp "special service campaign" is ineffective and disingenuous. This is evidenced by the numerous online testimony data and complaints to the n. H. T. S. A. The contact owns a 2004 Toyota Tundra. While driving, the contact stated that the lower front control arm broke on both the passenger and drivers side of the vehicle. The dealer and manufacturer were notified, but did not assist the contact with the failure. The failure was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 65,000.
The contact owns a 2002 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while driving 10 mph, the front driver side tire and wheel fractured from the vehicle causing the front end to collapse. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where the contact was advised that the upper and lower control arms had malfunctioned and caused the wheel to fracture. There were no recalls on the vehicle pertaining to the upper control arm. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 150,000.
2001 Toyota Tundra. I have replaced front left lower control arm, rear brake parts and other parts attached to the frame of this truck. I have sanded, scraped, primed and painted the frame of my truck. I wash the frame at least once a week in the winter time. The frame is still rusting away. The rear of the frame is rusted around the spare tire mount and rear frame rails. The front of the frame does not appear to have much rust looking from the outside, however if you look inside the frame there is heavy rust. I have two large chunks of rust that have been retrieved from the inside of the front frame. I have saved these two large chunks needed. I have contacted Toyota many times on this matter, dating back to 2008. I have been told there is a recall, yet this recall is only for the rear cross member. I was also told that there was only a recall for rust perforation (hole). This seems strange to me knowing that as the metal in the frame deteriorates from corrosion it is weakened. I don't believe there has to be a hole in the frame to make it weak. I am not looking for a new truck. I would just like to have my truck last as long as advertised in Toyota tv commercials. "legendary reliability" my truck is not that old and only had 80k miles on when I first filed a complaint with Toyota. The body on my truck is almost 100% rust free. If I had not cleaned and painted my frame the truck would have been junk along time ago. I would just like to see Toyota take care of this problem with more than a anti corrosion spray and hitting it with a hammer.
While towing a small trailer the front end of the vehicle started floating and became impossible to control. As a result the truck went out of control and flipped over causing over 10,000. 00 in damages to the pickup. It was a bout a month or two after this that we received the recall on the front ball joint. Even though it was supposedly fixed??? it still continues to have problems. I have contacted the insurance company and they had never heard of the recall. I think Toyota should stand up and do the right thing and give us a new truck that doesn't have potentially fatal recalls. Or maybe a class action legal response may be in order? I am contacting a lawyer ASAP I broke both wrist and cannot use my right arm now as a direct result of irresponsibility for this not being done right. If anyone else is interested let me know. Email me at the very least the dealer who sold us this vehicle should be liable for stating there is "nothing at all wrong with that truck" it is in perfect condition. What all that knowledge the pretend to posses about vehicles and they are not intelligent enough to check for recalls prior to reselling them to their "valued customers".
Four fasteners that attach the lower control arm/ ball joint to the spindle/ hub assembly failed on the front right tire and came apart pulling into a parking lot after a 1. 5 hour drive at highway speeds. Recalls on the lower ball joint assembly in 2002-2005 Tundras seem to result in the same type of separation.
