3 Front Suspension problem of the 2001 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 12/26/2009

We own a 2001 Tundra with severe rust problems on the frame, brakes, body parts, spare tire, suspension and nuts and bolts all over the vehicle. The spare tire dropped from the rear of the truck due to rust and damaged the rear bumper. We have spent thousands of dollars to repair rusted items on this truck.

4 Front Suspension problem of the 2004 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 07/15/2009

My 2004 Toyota Tundra double cab has an excessive amount of rust on the undercarriage. Because of this rust, the camber bolts cannot be removed to properly align the vehicle. I have been told that they will have to use heat to remove them, along with a lot of force, and in turn may do frame damage in the process. I have been quoted by my dealer $5,200 to fix the problem which initially started with a small shimmy in the steering wheel which grew into a big shimmy especially while towing. That quote does not include any possible charged from the body shop if damage to the frame should occur. I do not have $5,200 so I ended up with a new set of tires and half of an alignment because the camber bolts were not able to be removed. Here I am months later and my new tires are so bald on the front that I am actually seeing the tread showing through. I have always loved my Tundra, but all of this rust on the frame and undercarriage is very concerning regarding the longevity of my vehicle. I was told that Toyotas last forever. At this point I feel that my truck is dangerous to even drive but it is my only vehicle. I have owned and maintained many vehicles and never had rust issues like this, nor have I ever been faced with such a costly repair on a not so old vehicle. I am stuck in a bad place and just don't know where to go or what to do. I desperately need my truck. Without it I lose my source of transportation as well as my ability to earn a living. I just simply cannot afford. . . Meaning I just do not have this kind of money to bring my truck back to health. All of this stress and frustration is a result of this excessive rust. Included in the estimate is remove and replace camber bolts $1,957 --- steering rack boots 400. 00 alignment 90. 00---- driveshaft assembly $2,003---- rear u-joint $433. 00---- differential fluid $330. 00 it does not include any possible damage to the frame/body in their attempt to remove the camber bolts or another brand new set of tires.

5 Front Suspension problem of the 2000 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 05/01/2009

The frame of my 2000 Toyota Tundra is rusted out to the point of being unsafe to drive. Large, solid chunks of rusted steel come off by hand. Others pieces fall off onto the driveway when you close the door too hard. It's a shame, too because everything else runs great and I wanted to keep the truck to give to my son when he gets his license, but it is now a safety hazard, unfit to drive.

6 Front Suspension problem of the 2007 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 05/01/2008

Vehicle front end vibrates at speeds between 60 and 70 mph. There is sever steering wheel vibration. The front tires are showing wear the out side portion of the tire. The oem tires lasted 15,000 miles. I am now on a new set of tires that are exhibiting the same type of uneven tire wear. 1. Took the car to the dealer a minimum of four times to review the situation. 2. Had an independent automotive repair shop look at the problem. 3. Both the dealer ship and the automotive repair shop agree there is a vibration issue. 4. The dealer claims the issue is with the tire balance. They have "road force balanced the tires". 5. This has not solved the issue and the steering wheel vibration continues to occur. At times the vibration is very sever and other times the vibration is non existent.

11 Front Suspension problem of the 2004 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 11/09/2005

Vehicle was purchased on June 30, 2004. After only a few thousand miles, the front tire began to wear excessively on the outside edge, and the vehicle pulled hard to the right. The dealer replaced the front tires and aligned the end at around 4k miles. The wear continued, and now at 18k, the tires are worn out. The vehicle still pulls to the right, and the dealer states that no additional front end alignments or tires will be replaced under warranty.

12 Front Suspension problem of the 2002 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 06/01/2005

When applying the brakes the vehicle will have a heavy vibration and extended stopping distance.

13 Front Suspension problem of the 2001 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 02/15/2005

Purchased truck new in 2001. Excessive front brake pad wear out since new 6,000 to 10,000 miles per set. Noticed a looseness in front end early on and progressively worse as time went on including wobbling and lurching while braking. At 36,000 + miles Toyota replaced complete front and rear brake system with a heaver duty system at no cost. Front end still felt loose. At 52,000 miles dealer repalced front rotors and second set of pads since system up date at my expense. Still the front end felt loose. At 76,000 miles f/l wheel assemble breaks off the truck while driving over a small speed bump at less then 10 mph damaging fender and door. A Toyota dealer fixed the truck. The front end still feels loose and the dealer will not check or work on the truck because I filed a complaint with the bureau of auto repair. My complaint was the dealer did not return to me the repalced parts which I requested several times. The dealer told me he did not have to give mt the damaged parts and that nothing would happen to him because he was friends with the local consumer rep. I was contacted by a consumer rep and he told me the same thing and there was nothing he could do but put a note in the dealers file. I have not gotten any official report since filing my complaint. My truck is unsafe and I have no choice but to continue to drive it.

14 Front Suspension problem of the 2000 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 08/19/2004

Bought a 2000 Tundra with 49000 miles on it and intended to use it as a work truck. The second day I had the truck it started to vibrate when stopping at above 50 miles per hour. The next day I had about 900 pounds of printing ink in the back and had to make a fairly quick stop on the freeway. Even though I had given myself plenty of room, I was barely able to avoid an accident due to the severe vibration in the steering wheel,it really shook me up. I went to Toyota and they refuse to do a thing cause the warranty is up and I am not the origenal owner. Some thing should be done before someone gets hurt. There is a problem here!.

15 Front Suspension problem of the 2002 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 08/04/2003

I own a 2002 sr5 Toyota Tundra that has a real bad vibration at the front since I had about 32,000 miles I have now 72000 miles and I don't know if anybody has a complaint about this problem they change the brakes at 30,000 miles , I'm concerned about any accidents.

16 Front Suspension problem of the 2000 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 06/15/2003

The brakes began to cause vibration when slowing or stopping the truck. This started around 35,000 miles. The rotors were re-surfaced and the brake pads replaced. At about 45,000 miles the brakes were causing the truck to shake excessively once again. The rotors were re-surfaced and the braking was smooth for about 8,000 miles. At about 60,000 miles I was forced to buy new rotors due to the truck vibrating excessively when slowing or stopping. The brakes on this truck are not robust enough for the vehicle weight as the rotors are warping prematurely and the brake pads are wearing unevenly with normal driving.

17 Front Suspension problem of the 2000 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 04/01/2000

20 Front Suspension problem of the 2000 Toyota Tundra
