1 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2002 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 08/13/2010

I own a 2002 Toyota Tundra and I have had approximately five occasions where I heard a clunk while driving the Toyota Tundra as if the transmission was slipping during the month of July 2010. On August 13, 2010, I was driving approximately 75 mph when I had driven the Tundra approximately 200 miles, I pulled off of the highway to refill with gasoline and as I slowed down to the pump, the Tundra began to excessively shake and stalled. I then started the vehicle up which started well and I cut it off to refill with gasoline. Once I began to take off, the Tundra began to shake again and stalled, not more than 1/10th of a mile from the pump. I started the vehicle again and when I put the Tundra in gear, the Tundra continuously stalled no matter whether in drive, neutral or reverse. Every time I started the vehicle and put it in a gear, it would stall. The vehicle was towed to my residence which was approximately 100 miles. My failure mileage was approximately 89,000 miles.

4 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2008 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 07/01/2008

1. Turning right in 2008 Toyota Tundra out of parking lot at work or into traffic, I decelerate preparing to turn right and remove pressure from gas pedal and brake during the turn. When I reapply pressure to the gas pedal during the turn the truck does not accelerate only the engine accelerates. Adding additional pressure to the gas pedal only causes the engine to accelerate more. When the transmission engages the truck surges forward suddenly. 2. This slipping in the transmission happens every day. The consequence of driving this vehicle is when will the transmission slip and when will the transmission engage. 3. Have talked to the dealer (2) two times about this issue and the dealer tells me it is normal for this vehicle to react in this manner. The dealer says there is nothing they can do about this problem.

5 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2007 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 06/27/2008

Bought a 2007 Toyota Tundra. Noticed around 23,450 miles that something was turning (spinning) and felt like it was coming through the driverside floor . Right underneath my feet. Brought it in Toyota said they didn't find anything. Later heard noises on the left side of engine near left tire. Then shaking and vibrations followed. Around 60,000 miles transmission started slipping and clunking noises came from the engine. 65,000 miles started losing power. Fuel pump failure. Paid for a new fuel pump system $777. 79. Turns out 2007 model has to replace whole system. No other Tundra needs to. At 68,000 miles it got worse . Transmission diagnostic says transmission needs to be replaced. $4500. At 96,000 miles my truck in non operating. Toyota will not replace transmission. Even though a Toyota operations manager states it is not normal for transmission to go out this soon at so little mileage. The average time is between 15-20 years with the high technology that cars are built with now a days. Is what he said to me. Older cars built years ago transmissions normally last around 5 years sometimes 10 if they were lucky. So supposedly our vehicles are built smarter now adays. I have so many problems I find that hard to believe.

6 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2002 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 05/31/2002

2002 Toyota Tundra 4x2 sr5 with under 18,000 miles, at 45 degree angle while in drive and no load, vehicle will roll backwards and will continue to roll until the brakes are applied. While rolling a loud constant clicking noise eminates from the rear end as if gears were slipping. Vehicle seldomly driven and almost never pulls any loads, never abused or wrecked and maintained regularly. This has occurred since the vehicle was purchased in may of 2002. Lakeside Toyota informed me today 9-20-04, this was normal for the truck and that they simulated it with another truck.
