The contact owns a 2001 Volkswagen Beetle. The contact stated that there was an abnormal exhaust odor inside the cabin of the vehicle. The contact stated that the odor was abnormally strong. The contact stated that exhaust fumes were entering the vehicle through the vents. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that the rear latch for the hatchback was not locking securely and was also allowing exhaust fumes inside the vehicle. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to manufacturer emissions recall circular code: wa000 reprograming of engine control module and replacement of oxygen sensor (engine and engine cooling). The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

The timing chain on my 2014 r-line turbo Volkswagen Beetle with only 45,000 miles failed and subsequently destroyed the engine. Apparently this is a known issue with vw and Audi's manufactured between 2009 - 2014. There was a class action lawsuit against vw that does not apply to our situation as the claim has passed. Why has there not been a recall placed on this? now we are stuck with a $16,000 piece of junk. Please put a recall on these vehicles to protect consumers like us who are at the mercy of this unscrupulous business.

I have a diesel leak which Volkswagen did not repair (after I towed it there and told them about it in writing) and is not causing a light in the dash however, when plugging in an odbeleven, several codes are generated and one is related to a low fuel pressure sensor. I also watched the fuel line dripping. Vw claims that it is unreasonable to ask them to pay what I already paid to have the car fixed (diagnostics, rental, tow). It was reasonable for me to buy it and pay for all that though apparently. With a diesel leak, it's unsafe to drive so I currently have a piece of metal outside that I'm only halfway through paying on. This indeed is a tdi 2. 0l they sold me 3 years ago.

This vehicle experiences faults with the camshaft advance system randomly. At 70,000 miles this seems to be abnormal. At times upon start up or slow speed operation the vehicle will stumble, misfire and the engine may stall if the rpms arent increased. Fault codes indicate a faulty camshaft sensor or solenoid valve. Vw tells me this isn't covered by any emissions warranty and could be caused by dirty oil. My own searches on the internet have found multiple complaints about this issue with the 1. 8 and 2. 0 engine. Camshaft timing most certainly effects emissions and this part in my opinion would be able to function properly between oil changes. A slow speed engine stall could be dangerous due to the lack of power steering .

Volkswagen water pumps keeps failing. I had the first water pump fail at 61902 miles replaced on 22 Mar 2017. I then had to have another Volkswagen water pump put in my car replaced by a Volkswagen dealership at 82,229 miles on 4 Jan 2019. I am now back at the Volkswagen dealer for yet another new water pump for my car at 108000. These Volkswagen water pumps should not be failing like they are and unfortunately I have found no 3rd party water pump to install in my make and model of car to try to avoid these numerous breakdowns. Not only are the numerous water pump failures expensive to replace, I am afraid the failure of these Volkswagen water pumps may lead to a catastrophic engine failure. Unfortunately, the failure of these Volkswagen water pumps are posted all over the internet.

While driving on the interstate my 2013 vw Beetle showed a stability malfunction warning then lost power and would not accelerate. I coasted to the shoulder and shut the vehicle off. It crank back up and I drove it home. Two months ago, I had the same issue with the vehicle losing power after the engine light illuminated several times before I could get the car into the vw dealership for repair. After a costly emmission valve and hose replacement the engine light didn’t come back on and the care hasn’t lost power until yesterday. My safety was at risk due to a lack of power and had not been able to coast to the shoulder safely, I could have been plowed into the rear of my car by a semi that was fast approaching. This is a vehicle that I purchased for my teenaged daughter and I shudder to think of an inexperienced driver in this situation. I have read lots of post from others who have had this problem with vw. Taking the car back to the dealership tomorrow and praying that I won’t be told that the lose of power is a safety feature that vw has like I was told previously. Safety feature is suppose to prevent an accident not put drivers in a sitution that is potentially fatal.
Component or system failure: the specific component that failed or malfunctioned in my 2015 vw Beetle 1. 8t classic pzev is the timing belt, which caused bent valves resulting in the engine seizing up, rendering it inoperable. It is available for inspection upon request. Safety implications: the failure of the engine posed a significant risk to my safety and the safety of others. When the engine failed while I was driving on the freeway, it resulted in a sudden loss of power and alarming knocking sounds. This sudden loss of power on a busy highway endangered my life and the lives of other drivers around me. Confirmation by dealer or service center: the problem has been confirmed by a Volkswagen dealership. I had the vehicle towed to bill marines Volkswagen dealership for diagnosis, and they assessed that the engine had "jumped time" and the valves were bent, rendering the car undrivable. Inspections by manufacturer, authorities, or others: the vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer or any other relevant authorities at this point. However, I have sought assistance and evaluation from a Volkswagen dealership, which is an authorized service center for the brand. They were the first to diagnose the catastrophic engine failure. Warning lamps, messages, or symptoms: prior to the engine failure, there were no warning lamps or messages indicating a problem. There were no noticeable symptoms or signs of an impending failure. The failure occurred suddenly while driving on the freeway, without any prior indication of trouble. Please let me know if there is any additional information or documentation required to assist with the investigation. I am committed to providing accurate and reliable information to support the resolution of this matter.
Engine stalled and made jerking movements when coming to a stop and continued. Per mechanic, engine had metal contaminants and cannot be repaired. Needs new engine. Check engine light did not come on until after malfunction. Could have occurred on roadway which would have been hazard to driver and others. Second opinion from another mechanic obtained and confirmed. Not inspected by manufacturer. Oil was changed at vw dealership week before malfunction. No dealership available where malfunction occurred.
The contact owns a 2008 Volkswagen Beetle. The contact stated that while at a red light, sparks began to emit from the passenger side glove box without warning. The contact immediately shut off the engine and all the occupants evacuated the vehicle. The motorist behind her witnessed what had happened and assisted with unhooking the battery cable as a small fire began to erupt on the passenger side floor mats. The motorist's wife was able to retrieve a fire extinguisher from a person's home and extinguish the fire. The authorities were not called to the scene. No injuries were reported and a police report was not filed. Due to the failure, the vehicle was initially towed to an independent mechanic who could not repair the vehicle and recommended the vehicle be towed to a dealer; the vehicle was then towed to her home. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.

2018 Beetle with 2. 0 tsi. Vehicle is extremely well maintained and all work has been done by vw dealers. This is not our primary vehicle and, as a result, it only has about 8600 miles. Stopped at a store for a few minutes. Vehicle would not restart. Many fault lights appeared on the dash (e. G. , battery, check engine, epc). Pushed vehicle into another area of the parking lot where there was more room in case it needed to be towed. Waited a few minutes and tried to restart. Vehicle sputtered and seemed to be running on only 1 or 2 cylinders for a few seconds. Gave it a little gas, all lights went off, full engine power resumed. Sat there a few minutes evaluating engine performance, everything seemed fine. Decided to head to the dealership instead of going home. After about 2 miles engine stopped running. Many fault lights appeared including battery, epc, check engine, and so many others I can’t even recall. Had almost no steering. Struggled to coast vehicle to shoulder. Weather was very hot and traffic was heavy, not a pleasant situation or place to get stranded. Waited a minute or two. Tried to restart. Vehicle coughed, sputtered, and shook like it was only running on 1 cylinder. Shut vehicle off and sat. Tried to restart 2 or 3 more times without success. On next attempt vehicle sputtered to life, lights went off, and full power resumed. Tested engine performance and it seemed fine. Epc light came on. Still heading to the dealership. Got another 1. 5 miles or so. Epc and check engine light came on. Another engine failure. Super heavy traffic on a 6-lane highway. Luckily I had enough speed to coast off the road and into a dirt parking lot. Many fault lights on the dash. Waited a few minutes. Tried to restart vehicle, no luck. Vehicle was towed to closest vw dealership. Absolutely terrifying and horrific 3 hours.

Transmission control module communication errors (p0864) caused vehicle to shut down at high speed (55mph) killing power steering and abs system on a curvy country road.
Engine light for evap purge flow incorrect. I've spent over $700. 00 at the dealership and my engine light still comes on with the same error code. P0441. Thankfully I have fixed plugged in and I can turn off the engine light only to have it come on again every 25 to 50 miles of driving. ???? the purge solenoid, air pump, purge valve have been replaced. No change.
Yes on my 2014 beatle r one morning I was heading out to leave from work when, I heard a noise from the engine , and I thought it was the air condition, but it was the engine it started then after that and then I turned it off, so I called the dealership to tell them what happened and I had it toiled to Volkswagen , dealership and someone from the service and repairs called me back and told me that it was the timing chain came off had like 35,000 miles or 40,000 miles the car so my service guys talked to there manager about helping me sense I had everything serviced and done there no other place but the dealership I buy't from I guess the manager , had talked and said that Volkswagen , corporation , would only pay 70% so I had to pay 4100 . 00 and not pay the 100% percent of it but I heard there was a recall for the engine with low miles I don't know why that they cant pay the 100% of the coast sense they said it was a law suit going on, now the manager said if it was higher mileage then they would pay more. . To me that doesn't make any sense to me sincerely erik a adams.
My new 2019 Volkswagen s coupe has a significant turbo lag. So much so, that I do not feel safe driving the car. I was making a turn at an intersection and it was as though the car lost all power when I excellerated. It goes from no exceation when moving from stopped position to surging very fast upon the car ahead of me. I feel that this is a very serious issue and that my life may be at risk. It seems the accretion cannot be controlled!! this is a continuing problem when I am stopped and hit the excellerator to go forward . I don't know how much longer I can drive the car without a serious crash!!.

Fuse box melted twice. The last time totally shut the car down. Vw does not have a fix for this problem. Will sell you new box but will not warentee the new box will not fail again as they do not know why it happens. As I was driving in traffic dashboard warning lights came on and the ac stopped working and the car slowed and lost some power. I was able to get off the road and pull into a repair shop that just happened to be right there. They diagnosed that the fuse box had melted.

My VIN number on car is different from the VIN number on motor. I just found this out about one month ago. I wasn't told this when I bought the vehicle. . So, I don't know if this is a big problem or not. Its a 2005 vw, with a 2004 engine from a slavage yard, bandb, or b and r?? this caused me great alarm. The wiring since had to be done about 2 weeks ago. Also, the belly pan had been missing. I had it fixed. And the headlights had to be repaired too. This car has cost me thousands in repairs since purchase. And I don't have more thousands to put in it. Please help I hope the car in excellent shape now. Also, I noticed the dip stick broke to oil check and hadn't been prior to my acknowledgement. Also, the car has a soft top and I was told was newly replaced in 5/2018. But it seems to have a different look inside then a tight shape regarding top, and I don't know if this should be or not.

I was driving and the epc light came on. At the dealership I was told the car needed a carbon cleaning which is a $900 job. Being that my car is only 5 years old and only has 40k miles I was shocked. After doing research and talking to the dealership I learned that all 2012 bettles with this direct fuel injection design have this problem. It is systematic issue within the design of the fuel injection that causes the coils to fail and the car to need a $900 carbon cleaning done every few years. High grade gasoline or/and fuel injection cleaner does not help. I called the vw and they refused to do anything about this problem.
My car- 1999 vw Beetle was not fully inspected before I got the car from dealer. I just found out that my car has long list of parts need replacement to repair and I felt that it wasn't real safe because of strut shock and power steering also cv joints are getting bad in the under of hood. I found out that my car has no panel skid for prevent from wetting on motor parts and got bad acid on it. I has to order the parts for my car and hasn't driven for almost 6 months by so far. By right I don't have much money to pay for repairs.

After a business trip into austin my vehicle started jerking when I would brake or accelerate. At first I thought it was nothing just my car acting different because the the immediate change in speed going from 85 to about 40 to exit off the interstate. On the way to houston there was no trouble until the next day. The following evening being my first time driving it all day, I was pulling out of my neighborhood and when trying to stop at a stop sign my vehicle jerked 4 or 5 times then stopped when the wheel locked up and the battery and engine light came on as I was at a stop sign. I turned off my car then turned it back on and the wheel was unlocked and the battery light was off, but the engine light was still on. I proceeded to drive it because I wanted to see if it would do it again and it didn't, but I still refuse to drive it until I know what's wrong.

Engine smoking defective fuel filter o-ring gaskets causing fuel leaks--vw dealers not honoring warranty. Between April 2015 - July 2016, vw dealers have replaced this fuel gasket five times, repeatedly charging me for the defective part and unneeded filters. I saved one of the defective gaskets and have been to two different vw dealerships, graham in sioux falls south dakota and jensen in sioux city iowa. The engine smokes, I find the fuel leak, take it to the nearest dealer, who diagnose the problem before even opening the hood, because "the problem is so common. " I contacted the vw regional service manager, tamar t. , and vw customer care (reference # 160555387) and was advised that replacing a fuel gasket five times in just over a year is a regular "maintenance item". Attached are a photo of the defective gasket, response from vw customer service and my maintenance receipts/log.
Volkswagen has defects vie camshaft so which they know of and have a recall for but they are not fixing the problem. Their only concern is to move the failure out of warranty so their customers get stuck with the bill. It is afailure which is directly related to safety of the drivers. Camshaft fails and cause loss of engine power and vacuum for brake operation. They say a electric download will fix a mechanical failure. Impossible !!!!!!!!!.
When I drive the car go slow then fast.
April 2015 engine light came on. Secondary air injection hose was bad. March 2016 engine light came on again. Secondary air injection pump needed to be replaced. There was no issues as far as the performance of the car. Car was stationary when the engine light came on both times.
The contact owned a 2014 Volkswagen Beetle. While driving approximately 30 mph, the contact's vehicle rear ended the preceding vehicle. A police report was filed. After approximately 25 minutes, the vehicle became engulfed in flames and burned to the ground. The vehicle was destroyed and towed. The ambulance had to transport the contact and a passenger to the hospital due to bruises from the air bag deployment. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 22,000.
It is accelerating on it own when stopped or in gear or not. Really scary.
I was coming home from by ers appointment today and on the highway 2 toward home my car lost all power I had cars all over finally got off road. Would not start so had towed home. No reason for this. Date today October 20 2015 at 730 @ nite. Cold by myself in car.

Tl- the contact owns a 2001 Volkswagen Beetle. The contact stated that while driving at appoximately 35 mph all of the gauges on the dashboard moved to zero, then the blue temperature and red oil lights illuminated. The blue oil light stayed on. The red oil light turned off. The vehicle was taken to a parts store where the attendant checked all of the fuses, the battery and distribution fuses; they were okay. The vehicle was driven home. The approximate failure mileage was 145,000. Bd.
After departing my home, and driving approximately 23 miles, I had a brief smell of something burning, however, all the windows were open and I was on a highway of 12 lanes of traffic, and felt it could be from any where, not necessarily my vehicle. Moments later, I caught a flash in my right eye, that drew my attention to the passenger side floor board, but when I looked I thought perhaps it was a sun reflection. Directing my attention back to the highway, seconds later, I caught a second flash and this time when looking to the passenger side floor board, there was flames inside the car near the glove compartment towards the floor and door, and black smoke. I immediately got off the highway safely, turned off the car, evacuated with my belongings, as the car became totally engulfed in flames. I immediately called 911 and assistance arrived to include the state police and fire department, and turnpike staff. The car was picked up on camera by the turnpike dispatcher once I called in. Note: this vehicle had just been serviced 35 days prior from the vw dealer where purchased 4 years ago! I have never received a recall notice at all, and have a car fax that was given to me when purchased that shows no previous recall either. Something went seriously wrong on 25 Jul 2015. This could have resulted in my more tragic damage, to include my life, other vehicles, and possibly other lives.

We were driving home in our 2013 Volkswagen Beetle convertible when the engine died causing a lack of steering control. This is actually the second time this has happened with this vehicle. My wife is pregnant and I have lost confidence in this car being able to move my family around safely. I have searched online and others have had similar issues. The dealers are not able to "duplicate" the issue so they send you away with an unsafe vehicle. Hopefully this does not wind up being a situation similar to gm where people have to lose their lives before the issues are corrected.
The contact owned a 2001 Volkswagen Beetle. While driving at 50 mph, there was a sudden loss of acceleration. In addition, there was smoke coming from the hood, the windshield, and inside the vehicle. The vehicle became engulfed by flames. It was unknown if a police report was filed or who extinguished the fire. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 165,000.
While driving noticed white smoke behind the vehicle, then all electronics failed but car remained running, pulled to side of the road and engine compartment engulfed in flames. The car was quickly on fire from the dash forward. Tried calling vw costumer care and there are no recalls on the vehicle pertaining to fire. After searching online found dozens of similar if not exact incidents. This was my daughters car (17) and carried only liability. Only reason for writing is to educate so that others are not facing a life threatning event, as vw denies any wrong doing.
