2 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2012 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 11/16/2018

The car has 50,000 miles on it and one day I started the car in the morning and it was quite as it should be then it started it to misfiring and start to shut off. I took it to the mechanic and the dealer, they both confirmed that the timing belt needs to be replaced and I shouldn't be starting the car until I get it fixed. I can not believe that this major problem will occur on a car that has a low mileage like mine.

4 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2010 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 06/21/2018

Broken timing chain/belt. We were leaving a restaurant, while in the parking moving forward the car hesitated. . . . And then stalled. I re-started it and it was making funny sound. I turned it off and ask for help pushing it back into a parking spot. We had it towed to a local import repair shop for diagnoses, we were referred to a vw dealer and told to research class action law suite regarding timing chain/belt failure.

5 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2012 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 06/15/2018

My car engine broke down all of a sudden without giving any engine light warning. I had to tow my car to a Volkswagen dealer and they diagnosed the car and said that it did not have any engine oil in it and because of which timing belt ripped off and damaged all the pistons. This was very very unexpected because it did not give me any engine light on. If engine oil is low it should have given a warning light to catch my attention. Very fortunately it happened in my community and did not happen on busy highway with my baby on board. I cannot imagine that happening with baby on board on interstate.

6 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2012 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 03/27/2018

Vw timing belt was replaced at 50000 miles, now needs to be replaced again at 114000 which is causing chain to skip teeth. Engine rattles now. Vw warned that this is a known issue and do not drive because engine can fail completely. Vw will not cover the faulty chain. 2 chains under 120000 miles, which manual says will not need service until 120000.

7 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2010 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 03/21/2018

Timing chain malfunction: I was coming to a stop at a traffic light in downtown columbus and my check engine light came on and then started flashing and my car started to make a sound like something misfired. I tried to accelerate when the light turned green and the engine turned off. I tried restarting my engine and it barely started and continued to rattle and shake like something again was misfiring and turned off again. I tried to restart again and it barely restarted and I tried hitting gas a little harder to get out of the intersection and was able to get it to finally make my turn and pull off to the side of the road. Luckily, there was a Volkswagen/Audi shop called "motorkars" less than a mile away so I dorve my car there while the engine stalled 2 more times. In hindsight, I should have called a tow after the initial engine mishap but since I was so close I figured it would be safe enough to get to the shop. Once I got there, they informed me that my timing belt had broken and due to this, there is a potential for internal engine damage to the cylinders. They are doing test as we speak and have said they have seen a ton of these issues lately with cars with the same engine (2. 0l gas tsi engine. ) the shop told me they have came out with better parts as the standard issued parts were not up to par and the timing belt should usually last the entire life of the car, yet they see them malfunctioning right around 60k-100k miles. The original timing belt vw has in these engines are ineffective and should be recalled as it is dangerous to have on the road in any car.

8 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2010 Volkswagen CC

Failure Date: 09/10/2017

My car had trouble starting that morning. It took about 3 seconds for it to turn on after I inserted the key. I thought it was just because it was getting a cold start now that we're in September. As I was driving a few minutes after, the car immediately decelerated while on the road. That could've been catastrophic. The check engine light came on shortly after and the car would shake a lot, especially at a stop. I did some research and talked to my mechanic and he told me it was a timing belt issue. Estimating $1600-$5000 for repair. Just 2 months ago I had the cel that costed me $700 and a few months before that $500. I investigated that there was a class action suit for this problem. My car has only 54000 miles.
