I was driving east on interstate 95 when the engine in my car (2007 vw Gti VIN: [xxx]) suddenly lost all power. I was in the third lane driving at approximately 70 mph, turned the air conditioning on and a few seconds later, turned it off. At that instant, the car ceased to accelerate. I put the car in neutral, turned on my hazard lights and managed to safely glide over to the warning lane, just beyond exit 22 or just beyond the off ramp to exit 21. I tried to restart the engine to no avail. This was a highly alarming incident since the car was just over three years old and had only 64000 miles on it and was properly maintained since I purchased it new in 2007. I had similar problems last year but the acceleration of the car would quickly kick back in. This time however, it went completely kaput. I reported the previous incidents to a vw dealer and they had a terrible time ascertaining what the problem was. Ultimately, they determined it was a fuel sensor issue and replaced the fuel sensor. After the April 3rd incident, my car was towed to a vw dealer where it was determined that my timing belt had broken and that as a result, there was damage done to the engine to the tune of approximately 6k. I want to report this since this could easily have occurred in the holland tunnel for example or on a dark one lane road. It was a very scary experience and I feel that the manufacturer should have been able to preempt this from ever happening.

The coil pack fails, I have replaced it twice and no matter what the check engine light comes back on in no time at all and it's coil pack failure, which also triggers other sensors like the coolant sensor which I have replaced as well. I think the longest time my check engine light was off was 3 weeks! this car costs a fortune to fix and it's never fixed.

I own a 2008 Volkswagen Gti and am having manual transmission problems, three months of owning the car my first gear scynro has gone out,(disintegrated) this problem has been repaired under warranty. And now has gone out a second and a third time. The second time same dealer same warranty repair. For the third repair the dealer has denied my warranty for the part in question. I'm currently trying to get a hold of vw in germany, because Volkswagen of America's customer service is not willing to help me.

I own a 2007 Gti which has what I believe and many other owners, a defective subframe of the vehicle. My incident began summer of 2007 after less than a year of ownership my vehicle started showing symptoms of clunking and snapping sounds coming from the underneath of the car in the front. I went to the dealer several times to repair it and out of all the visits of which I only got 5 receipts and 2 attempts at repairs the problem still continues. It has begun to be harder to replicate in some instances and when I did I finally decided to make a video of the issue. The service dealerships refused to use the tape as proof so I moved onto contacting vwoa of which it did not get me far. I supplied the videos and repair bills and unless I can replicate the sound at the dealer they cant help. So I finally replicated my defect at another vw service center and a service manager who is well aware of the issue, and willing to work with me and vwoa. I contacted vwoa after the visit and have yet to hear a response. What the service manager showed me was pretty much what me and the several people presume is manufactured wrong. The subframe on the vehicle seems defective. It also seems that the subframe puts some emphasis on the steering components on the vehicle which may cause potential problems even hazards if investigated further. As of right even after given repairs, my car is still having problems, snapping sounds during the vehicle turning or clunking sounds under engine loads and transmission loads. No solution has been offered to me by vwoa other than try to replicate the problem which I already have with a very willing person to help but vwoa has yet to contact me back its been over a week. . I have taken my '03 Gti vr6 to the dealer 3 times for the same complaint. When it is raining, there is a squealing noise coming from the passenger side of the car. Dealer could not replicate the problem each time I brought the car to them. They said that it could be the belt but it would not be covered under warranty. I replaced the belt myself and I still get the squealing noise, even with belt dressing. I have also noticed a decrease in engine power when the squealing noise is occurring. My most recent problem now is my speedometer and fuel gauge stop working intermittently. The speedo will be reading my current speed and then drop to zero, bounce back up and back down to zero, up a little bit more and then stay at zero until the next time I drive the car. Seems to do this only on trips greater than 20 minutes.

When I passed 24000 miles, after having driven my car extremely carefully (2001 Volkswagen Gti GLS 1. 8t), the clutch began to slip to the point where the car was undriveable, and I had to buy a replacement clutch as well as the installation which cost around $700. I have spoken with several other vw owners (same model) and have found that this is a common problem and think that Volkswagen of America should be held liable for this defective component.
The park/neutral switch malfunctioned , which caused the vehicle to start in gear without depressing the clutch. Which resulted in an accident. (manual transmission) the unit failure allowed the vehicle to start in neutral or any gear. Scc.
