1 Anti-theft Controller problem of the 1998 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 10/31/2017

The vehicles' anti theft had went haywire. Went to start, beep sound went off. Then was locked inside car. With the alarm going off. Was only able to exit vehicle by having passerby unhook battery, while I held the unlock button. This was over 2 weeks ago. When hooking battery back up, the alarm still goes off. I am unable to drive. The battery was purchased new in June. Nothing has been added to vehicle. Please advise to how this matter will be resolved & if anyone else has had a similar problem.

2 Anti-theft Controller problem of the 2011 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 12/01/2013

I began experiencing issues with the anti-theft/locking system about late 2013/ early 2014. The locking system malfunctions and the doors do not lock, but also while driving the locks continuously click while trying to engage. I spoke to my local vw dealership via phone on multiple occasions and received multiple answers, but ultimately was told the cost would be around $500-600 dollars to repair, out of my pocket. I was unaware of the recall information at that time and could not afford this at this time. Then, in late December of 2015 my horn suddenly, without warning, stopped working as well. I did research and found that both issues were probably related to the recall number: 11v196000 recall date: 03/29/2011. I spoke to vw customer care and was informed of other recalls as well. I took my car to the vw dealership to have all recalls performed and was reassured that this particular issue with the horn and anti-theft would be examined, along with the other recalls. The horn/anti-theft issue were not addressed as stated. That same day I emailed the service lead with the recall information and was told that my VIN did not match this recall and that I would need to bring my vehicle in, again, for a diagnostic test and/or repair (services to be performed out of my pocket). According to the documentation provided by NHTSA campaign number: 11v196000 my vehicle is a match to the specific VIN associated with the recall. This is a serious issue, as I understand it has to do with the electrical system malfunctioning and could very well cause other parts of the vehicle to malfunction. According to the documentation not all vehicles in this recall were accounted for, and I believe my vehicle is part of the unaccounted vehicles.

3 Anti-theft Controller problem of the 2007 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 07/31/2012

The contact owns a 2007 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the sun roof opened independently, the check engine warning light illuminated and numerous warning lights illuminated sporadically. The rear driver's side door could only be opened from the interior of the vehicle and the anti-theft system would only function intermittently. The contact spoke with several dealers and was informed that the failure was most likely caused by an electrical failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 69,000.

4 Anti-theft Controller problem of the 2008 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 07/18/2012

I have a 2008 Jetta and I started experiencing problems with 1 door. My car was still under warranty and the lock was replaced at the dealership. Then only months later I started having similar problems randomly (the lock would work some times but not others). Everytime I stopped at the dealership to have it fixed the lock worked- therefore they could not diagnose which door had a problem. The lock failed everytime and when I returned to the dealership, the car was no longer under warranty. The dealership said the locks can go bad and quoted me a cost of $400 to repair. After having one door "fixed" only to have another lock fail after months later seems excessive. At this point I have not replaced the second lock. It is frustrating to see a car with four doors have problem with two of the doors! at a cost of $400 to replace I felt there must be a larger issue that needs attention. We keep our car in the garage, the door that is now in need of repair is rarely used. This is a serious issue as the locks serve as the first line of defense in personal protection and anti-theft. After searching on line and seeing others with similar issues, I felt it was important to report this. I trust you will promptly follow up and assist me in resolving this issue.

5 Anti-theft Controller problem of the 2007 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 09/02/2011

2007 wolfsburg edition Jetta: experiencing issues latches/locks/linkages/ first with one door lock (rear left) around Sep 2011. Then 2nd door (rear rear) warranty aready passed, the dealer told me that the locks can go bad and need to be replaced, costing $250/$200 each plus labor $100 hr. /3 hrs or $300!! for grand ttl almost $800! replacement. Now I already having problem with driver door!! this seems excessive specially vw should address this quality issue with their supplier now and have them fixed at no cost. This is a safety issue drive for work around some not nice neighborhoods, car can't be lock. I have 2 kids and afraid door can open so easly. I hope something is done before we hear really bad news. This is a serious issue as the locks serve as the first line of defense in anti-theft. I searching online and see others with similar issues, I decided to report, I still have issues with lock. Hope people reads and report the issue. I have bought 2 other vw is past and never had this problem. I don't think will buy a fourth vw.

6 Anti-theft Controller problem of the 2001 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 03/15/2005

Continuing problem-random occurrences: all doors will lock unexpectedly and alarm system arms itself. This has happened on numerous unexpected occasions without any activation by remote locking key fob. Doors will lock with driver or passenger(s) inside or outside the vehicle. Attempting to start the engine or open doors will trigger the alarm after the doors have automatically locked and armed. Starter is disabled when alarm is triggered. Safety concern from being locked out of car unexpectedly. Car has locked with keys in the car and driver outside of car, such as at gas station filling tank. Panic is induced when driver inadvertently triggers the alarm when trying to start the engine while unaware that the car has automatically locked itself and armed the alarm. Fear of small child being trapped inside car when auto locking/auto arming occurs.
