While driving down a the road, my husband, 2 children and I, with no cars around us, we heard a loud pop (almost exploding like). We all looked around and then my husband looked up and our sunroof glass was shattered. As we exited the vehicle to take a better look, you could clearly see that the glass was broken from the inside, as if it was popped like a balloon. While no glass fell in the vehicle due to the shade being shut, there was glass all over the top that my husband had to clean up. Unfortunately due to no negligence on our part, we had to file an insurance claim.

When switching the gear in reverse. The car's reverse transmission locks then all of the sudden makes big thump sound and sudden rush of torque/power burst while reversing. It nearly hit a pedestrian if I wasn't careful.

Drove for 1. 5 hours in 70 degree weather at 55-70 mph average highway driving. There was no impact, crash, or other form of collisions. No bolts, rocks, or debris were visualized coming from the car in front of me >300 ft. The sunroof spontaneously exploded with a very loud noise then showering of glass. Passenger was cut from falling glass. Glass shards/dust/chunks were present in all seats. No warning lights, messages, or symptoms before failure. Sunroof in working mechanical condition in drive prior to event. No known external cause of failure, likely intrinsic to glass. Car not inspected by police or insurance. Vw dealership refusing to inspect window.

[xxx] driving on [xxx] , my car accelerated to almost redline without me pushing the pedal, I tried the brake only to find it didn't control the car. , it died in the slow lane, no power anything. Eng lite was on, towed to my mechanic, he couldn't find why but the code said egr, so he cleaned and replaced glow plugs, & regen'd the dpf to 0. . So I picked up the car, and a few days later, it did it again through a 4way stop. I called vw & was told to go to the dealer. Oakland vw inspected & said need new dpf $6k. Since the filter doesn't affect throttle, I declined, plus in 2022 on an extended warranty I went to dealer to have the filter replaced, instead they regen'd it & left the bad part in my car. Now the corporate care manager wants the dpf replaced for $6k b4 proceeding with any further testing to identify the source of the acceleration problem. The shop mgr, joseph, was test driving & the car did take off and was not stoppable with the brakes. That was confirmed, yet vw of America is still in a holding pattern and cannot explain why this is happening. This is a major safety problem. The car takes off out of control unexpectedly, and the brakes won't stop the force forward. Please help me, I cannot stress enough the danger this car puts me and others in, and it is my only vehicle. The dealer is trying but corporate is being difficult and are not interested in compromise. The dpf, emissions issues they have had, have nothing to do with the acceleration and they just refuse to move forward or discuss anything else. My 2019 Volkswagen Jetta cannot be refueled — gas nozzle clicks off instantly or overflows. The check engine light came on, and vw corporate confirmed code p00fe, indicating a failure of the evap system vent valve. This is a sealed emissions component integrated with the fuel tank. Dealership initially claimed there were “no codes,” but a video shows their technician confirming the evap code, disconnecting the evap system, and concluding the tank must be replaced. However, since the valve is a powered solenoid, unplugging the system wouldn't allow it to open — this invalidates their test and diagnosis. Vw has denied warranty coverage even though the issue clearly falls under the 8-year/80,000-mile federal emissions warranty as defined by the epa and vw’s own documentation. I also discovered they misrepresented an active recall (#28h7) and falsely told me I had none. Vw customer care told me about the recall and informed the dealership. Vw customer care informed me 7/9/25 that the recall had been repaired. Carfax yesterday and your system today show that it still has not been repaired. This is a safety hazard. I cannot refuel reliably, and the dealership is denying coverage while refusing to provide written documentation or a breakdown of findings. My car is disabled and stranded at the dealership since July 24, 2025 and they will barely communicate.
Shifting vehicle into reverse, turns of back up camera, then shifting into drive camera remains on for a set period of time, if shifted back into reverse as camera turns off, camera will not come back on. Android auto was being used.

I drove my vehicle to wawa to get gas before work. As I was driving up to the pump my car shut off and would not start. I have low mileage and have kept up all routine maintenance. This could have been worse as I could have been driving on a main road or highway and the vehicle shut off completely and would not start again.

When you turn on the vehicle, the abs and traction light illuminates. The light that says "brake" also illuminates and the vehicle beeps 3 times. When driving the vehicle, the red light "brake" flashes constantly, while the abs and traction control light remains illuminated but no flashes. The dealership says it's a fault abs module and hydraulic pump assembly. I researched and found a Volkswagen safety recall code: 45f2 (published March 17, 2017) that seems very applicable to my vehicle. Safety concerns include but are not limited to the following: loss of vehicle control, failure to brake properly, auto engagement of brakes not by the driver, etc. All safety concerns may cause my life or the life of another individual.

As I’m driving the car, the gear ship suddenly won’t go into gear to downshift and grind for a second so I stopped trying to change gears and I just close to the end of the exit. Finally able to get it back into gear drive down the road and the clutch is really loose and almost like it’s not connecting to anything. I’ve heard this has been a problem with the gearshift mechanism on other Volkswagens. And there have been recalls on that I don’t know why there’s no recall showing for my 2015 Volkswagen Jetta with this issue.
The ignition switch where the key is placed in the ignition and turned to start the car failed. The ignition would not turn with the key engaged inside the ignition switch. It will require a new ignition switch kit and new key in order for the car to function properly again.

Climate controls are not voice activated. Driver has to take eyes off of road for long duration to change/modify interior heat/cooling functions. There are no knobs only stupid touch screen junk. Vehicles must be recalled to install user safe functionality to these climate control functions. Stop the stupid touch screen stupidity.
The key pins on the vw flip keys fall our regularly and can leave motorists stranded in unsafe locations. It is however an excellent revenue generator when you consider the cost of replacement keys. I caught my pin in the process of falling our and saw it was a common problem that has not been resolved in this flawed and unsafe key design that threatens the welfare of consumers and safety of use of their vehicle.
Without any warning whatsoever the entire electrical system goes completely off while driving the vehicle after 5 mins of it being on. This means that the lights including blinker and brake lights go off, air conditioning stops, and the entire dashboard goes off. The engine is still able to run. I am able to use the gas and breaks but I do not know what my speed is or any other information that is typically available via the dashboard. I have tried to do a reset when the problem occurs but that does not help the situation. The safety of myself and others is definitely at risk when this happens since the break lights and turning signal will no longer function at all. I can only use the hazard lights to indicate the hazard this presents. I’ve brought this issue up to multiple Volkswagen dealerships having paid the $200 diagnostics fee every time and they inform me that they are not recognizing the issue. I ask if this has anything to do with a recall that had happened to this car and been “fixed” in 2021 and they do not answer the question. I ask if it is possible that the recall was not fixed correctly and that is why I am having issues and they do not answer the question. I have also emailed customer support at Volkswagen worldwide and they state that my car never had any recalls done which is so incredibly false. I have the paperwork to confirm that it had a total of 6 different recalls done in 2021. I believe one of the recalls was never fixed properly and has only deteriorated worse since 2021. Volkswagen dealership of san bernardino does not give any codes or anything that is more specific than possible alert to car battery/terminals/cables/clamps issues. Their recommendation was to change the car battery but that was already replaced in Aug 2024. They also recommended to change my oil filter but I had an oil change less than 5 days before at a different location. The pep boys diagnostic revealed code p253200 which indicates a problem with the ignition switch.
At around 5am on februaury 7, 2025 I was awoke by my roommate screaming my car was on fire. When I went outside I seen my neighbor and roommate attempting to put out a fire in the engine of my car. My car had been parked for at least 5 hours and was not running. My neighbor stated that he looked out his window and saw flames and ran across the street where he started to extinguish the fire with my water hose until fire and police assistance arrived. There was no one in the car, or around the car, the fire spontaneously started. I had no prior warnings that would be cause for concern of an engine fire. The car burnt to total destruction. It is located at my address. It is available for inspection on request. I am financing the car from shaws auto since 08/23/2024. Shaws auto has been notified of the incident. The firemen stated that it was caused by a manufacturer defect. I am uploading pictures of my car. I am still acquiring official incident reports. Attempted to upload photos of vehicle post fire but to no avail. This incident has taken a significant amount of mental, physical, and spiritual energy in order for me to stay intact. This is my first opportunity at buying a newer car that I was under the expectation that I wouldnt be under constant worry that something was going to go wrong with my car costing me money I dont have. I newer car shouldve brought me at least a few years use before concern for any kind of wear and tear issues arise. This engine fire was not my fault or cause therefore I should be compensated with a car of which ican rely on. I was never notified of any recalls on my car and was not aware of any until after the fire. Had I known there was an urgent recall I would have corrected it.
Sos emergency call function error. One yellow warning light on left bottom side of the dashboard and “emergency call function! service vehicle” on the right side bottom.

Recall emmissions on the evap purge valve with hose assembly. I am having issues under this recall for the 2019 volswagen Jetta only my VIN number is not included in the recall but I am experiencing the same code and issues. Volkswagen will not honor the recall because my VIN is not included on this overwhelming problem they have with this issue. Light has been going on and off for over a year.
The 2019 vw Jetta has a massive safety issue that is caused by the andriod auto feature/software within the vehicle. When driving (for about 45 minutes - 60 minutes) the android auto feature will shut off when a cell phone is fully plugged into the vehicle (via usb cable). Therefore, the android auto issue is fully unavailable for drivers. This is an absolute beyond massive safety concern because a cell phone is not 'hands-free' for a driver. This issue has been addressed online and it seems that there is no solution. Buying a new usb charging cord, software update, etc. This issue is caused by the internal system in the 2019 vw Jetta. Hope this makes sense. But please read articles found online. This issue needs to be resolved ASAP. Especially due to the fact that a cell phone is no longer hands-free, and the use of navigation (google maps) is no longer available. I am clearly not the only one with this issue with the vehicle. This has to be investigated as this issue could cause an accident in the future, no doubt. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I was driving along the I-25 highway south. I was no where near any bridges and was in the right lane with a safe following distance from the car in front of me. Suddenly out of no where with no warning lights, and nothing that could have possibly been flung towards my car, my sunroof exploded. Thankfully the inside cover was closed, and I was not using the sunroof or the glass would have been blown into the car on me and my passenger. I pulled onto the shoulder and got out to look at it. It looked like it had been imploded from the inside, and there was no damage to the inside cover, giving me reason to believe the glass just exploded with no impact from anything else. There was also no thumping noise of another object when it happened. Luckily no other cars were involved and I was able to get off the highway safely. Still waiting to get my sunroof fixed.
Horn no longer working, can't signal an impending accident to other drivers. That along with infotainment touch screen, kind of hard to use hands free when I cant select yes on the touchscreen.
I purchased a new 2019 vw Jetta gli. Since the first day I bought the car four years ago, whenever I call someone or receive a call, and my iphone is plugged in to the usb socket to connect to hands-free calling, the person on the other end hears a very big echo and voice lag. 100% of the time this happens. I end up having to hang up and call just using the speaker on my phone because no one can stand the giant echo reverb they hear on their end. I have brought the car into a few different vw dealerships to have this fixed and they never fix it. I paid $500 to a local mechanic to have the entire hardware unit replaced with a new vw --manufactured unit and the problem still exists. I googled to see if other owners of a 2019 vw Jetta are having this issue and it appears to be a very, very widespread and persistent problem across the entire brand. Vw has known about this problem for five years! they do not fix it ever. They need to be forced into fixing it by a government agency like you please! this is a safety and legal issue, since I am not able to use the hands-free calling feature in my car. It is illegal in my state to use a cell phone while driving unless it is a hands-free call. If you google this problem, you will find thousands of owners with this problem. Please issue a recall as it is a safety issue and a legal liability. Thank you! [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Because of recall, car was not engaged in park completely like it stated after I got out it rolled away down the hill and hit a tree, therefore the recall caused my accident. Yes the problem has been confirmed it is a recall. No it has not been inspected by dealer or police. Volkswagen will not engage in any further investigations they say it's my fault. There were no warning lamps.

Component/system failure/malfunction: ignition switch and starter, possibly transmission yes, available for inspection upon request. Car has randomly stalled while in motion; ignition and starter switch have been replaced as well as microswitch panel - yet problem persists. Power steering shuts down, steering wheel becomes very difficult to turn. Have to put car in neutral, typically, and try to restart while in motion. Has happened over 100 times; replaced alternator as well. Battery was replaced, brand new, yet was drained multiple times - recharged at autozone. Vehicle was brought to larry h. Miller Volkswagen - was advised the problem was fixed, as well as recall repairs (microswitch), paid for the service, went to leave dealership and problem immediately happened again. Complete shut off. Would stay running a little longer while in neutral or ac on. When the vehicle stalls the only light that comes on is the battery light. All other lights and systems work. Ran diagnostic codes through personal mechanic, friend, and dealership. . . Code states "key/ignition/computer" but unsure what specifically. The 2011 Volkswagen Jetta also does not have the original key fob. May be improper programming? continued to research all other recalls, services have been completed and yet the problem persists.
Malfunction ignition switch, and ignition cylinder, 50,000 miles on car. Took it to the dealer for diagnosis. No warning lamps or lights showed. My car just stopped allowing my key to come out of the ignition to turn the car off. I have to struggle to get it out of the ignition for 10-20 mins every time I take my key out. My car could potentially not turn on or off when the pieces go out completely.
While in operation the dash cluster goes completely black. Aprox 45mph. Dealer had to replace entire dash cluster.
When accelerating from 1st gear to 2nd gear, the gear gets stuck. . Rpms spike high and the car won't go any faster until it gets unstuck. This has caused issues while in traffic, nearly getting ran over by cars behind me. I can't accelerate as normal when pulling onto a road, there's the risk that the transmission gets stuck and I can't move forward. This car is only 5 years old.
I took my car for ignition switch recall but after one month I have same issue tge car won't start.
The built-in navigation and apple carplay periodically show the wrong location, offset by several hundred feet from the real one. A huge number of cases on the internet, Volkswagen does nothing about it. They update the software, but it doesn't help.
I was driving on the road going up a hill and my fuel was just alittle low about 120 miles my car sputtered and died and didn't start back up stuck on the road with barley any gaurd rail so I'm partially in the lane and I got it looked at and my high pressure fuel pump failed and sent metal scrapes all throughout my fuel system so it's estimated around 10k to replace I got told it's because the pump barley lost fuel and it uses that to lubricate itself so somthing as simple as one of the pumps going out and this problem can occur or a slight short im just reporting because many others have had this issue with the pump and mine shouldn't have even had nothing going on at 120 miles 1/4 of a tank and I did look in my tank and confirmed I had fuel that I filled up at my local gas station in the middle of the city so it's not bad diesel I own a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta 2. 0l tdi cjaa.
I keep getting a message on my dash saying only exit vehicle in “p” position. Please service vehicle.
