I am reporting an unsafe vehicle release and failed recall remedy by findlay Volkswagen henderson regarding NHTSA campaign number 16v913000 (Volkswagen campaign 45f2) on my 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. The dealership closed out the safety recall on October 7, 2026, via invoice #485977, claiming the repair was finalized. However, their paperwork is explicitly non-compliant. Page 1 bills out an outdated, uncorrected factory part number (1k0-907-375-ah), completely violating the 45f2 safety protocol which mandates upgraded replacement modules 1k0-907-375-ap or 1k0-907-375-an. Furthermore, page 2 text contains the technician's actual notes stating he only did a temporary module reset to force a signal and explicitly writes: "continued with recall and found module requires replacement. " due to this uncompleted safety recall repair and use of non-compliant hardware, the abs module suffered a complete network communication crash immediately upon leaving the dealership lot. This sudden network failure cut off critical speed sensor data to the vehicle’s transmission, instantly dropping the vehicle into an automatic transmission 'limp mode' while driving on public roads. The transmission locked into a single safety gear and refused to shift, causing a severe, sudden loss of vehicle acceleration and creating an immediate traffic hazard. When contacted immediately at 5:30 pm, the dealership refused to tow the vehicle to correct their failed recall remedy and demanded I pay an out-of-pocket diagnostic fee. The vehicle is currently un-repaired, hazardous to operate, and stranded.

Im reporting a safety concern involving my car, while driving on 30 highway at 65 mph the vehicle suddenly lost throttle response and would not accelerate when I pressed the accelerator pedal, this created a potentially dangerous situation because I was traveling with surrounding 3 pm traffic and could have been involved in a collision do to the unexpected loss of power. I was force to pull over and after searching inf I turn off the car for 10 minutes and restarting the vehicle it appeared to operate normally again. However the failure occurred without warning, and I’m concerned that it could happen again while driving. I towed the car to the closest dealership but they can look at it until Thursday 10/01/2026 5 days after the accident. The vehicle recently received a software update and I don’t know whether the issue may be related because it happens days after. The incident represents a significant safety risk because a sudden loss of acceleration on highway can place driver as other motorists in danger.

2025 Jetta sport completely loses acceleration on straightaways and during turns, creating an intersection collision hazard. Severe drivability and safety hazard. It drops power during turns, which exposes me to oncoming traffic. Also when I press the gas, the car does not want to go.

On xxx around 4:15pm, I was driving my 2024 Volkswagen Jetta at approximately 65 mph onxxx in [xxx] under normal weather conditions. Without warning there was a loud explosion resembling a gunshot. The panoramic sunroof glass spontaneously shattered and exploded, showering the inside of myself and my car with glass fragments. There was no leading vehicle, overpass, or evidence of road debris or rock failure. The sudden explosion caused immediate driver distraction and created a severe safety hazard. There was no crash, thankfully, and no injury other than minor scratches and earaches due to the sound. Unknown if hearing problems were caused at this point. Volkswagen corporate deployed a mandatory over-the-air (ota) software update to the mib3 infotainment system. The update failed mid-installation, entirely bricking the j794 information module. This failure completely disabled vital driver information systems, including the digital dash compass, all audio alerts, and driver notification tones while the vehicle is in motion. This represents an immediate, manufacturer-initiated distraction and safety hazard that disables cabin instrumentation.

When parking the car into a parking spot the car shuts off when put in reverse to leave parking spot.

While I was opening the driver’s side door after parking and getting out, it forcefully and unexpectedly slammed shut forcefully, crushing and severely injuring my right (dominant) hand and wrist. Comparative checks on similar vehicles confirm that standard driver-side doors do not operate or slam violently in this manner. Medical impact & ongoing treatment injury occurred over 3 months ago and has caused severe, ongoing pain and mobility restriction. The impacts include: •medical care: multiple emergency room visits, ongoing primary care, and orthopedic consultations. Mid June 2026 infotainment update was over the air software update. Update caused infotainment failures: looping screen resets, unable to play audio, disruption to screen during safety features such as back up cam, unable to accomplish directions, carplay no longer consistent feature. None of these listed problems were present before over the air software update.

I bought car back in June or July 2024. Since then ive had issues with vehicle. Bad breaks, bad wheel bearings that were replaced & car just never drove smooth. Since buying car & driving it around for months I have felt a jerk/pull when in drive mode from 0mi when stepping on gas. The engine has completely shutt off at random at a light when in drive mode & ive had to put in parking & restart engine while making a right hand turn & while pulling into a parking lot. I notified dealer & taken in but told nothing was found & they didnt seem to see the safety issue at hand or care. It has done this a few times since ive had it. Very scary, thankfully no accident yet! the lane assist warning light randomly comes/came on before this happened. Dash read, error stop/start engine when it shutt off. It happened so fast I was unable to take a pic. I was able to take a picture of dash reading; please manually start engine in drive mode at time of last inccident June 22, 2026. This issue seems to get worse the more I drive it.

The electronic dashboard does not display critical information like speed, engine rpm, engine warning lights, etc. The electronic dashboard stopped working and remains a black screen with no information about vehicle speed and other important infomation available to the driver. Vw has a technical bulletin on this issue. This is a major safety hazard and should be upgraded to a recall. I am afraid to drive the car without knowing the vehicle speed or other missing information normally displayed on the dashboard.

While driving on the highway, the sunroof suddenly shattered outward. There were no other vehicles around us at the time.

I was leaving my house to head to work. When I turned on the highway. The car randomly stopped accelerating. No warning or anything just stopped going. Pulled over to the side and shut it off for five mins. Turned it back on by the car won’t move at all. Not forward not back. Call a tow truck and took it to a shop. There I was told there was a recall on the mechatronic system of these cars and someone didn’t take this one into be fixed. Call vw to inquire about the recall. They said they can’t help! what. That’s crazy! I didn’t even put 50miles on this car. Spent my whole savings to finally have a car! instead of riding my bike to work and have a good car. For me to be out almost $7000.

I took this car in a year ago and they replaced the steering wheel because I kept getting a "travel assist" error. Not only is this problem back but has a very load chime every other min that is very distracting while driving. I have taken the car back to the dealer and they state they dont see the problem. Yet it seems many vw owners are having this issue.

I was on the highway when it sounded like an explosion happened in my car. My sunroof shattered without any debris hitting it. It was 55 degrees, so no extreme temperatures, sunny, I was not behind a truck or under a bridge or around any construction. I wasn't able to pull over for at least a mile or two until I reached an exit. When I parked and examined the window it looked like the glass was angled upwards as if the issue came from within the car and there were large shards as well as tiny one. They seemed to break into rectangular like pieces. My ears were ringing a bit from the sound that was made by the break.

I am experiencing multiple safety-related issues with the driver's side door latch/lock assembly on my Volkswagen vehicle. These problems are isolated to the driver's door and appear linked to a known defect involving water intrusion and freezing. Symptoms include: in cold mornings (around 7:30 am), the driver's door latch frequently freezes shut, likely due to moisture ingress that freezes in sub-freezing conditions—preventing opening from the exterior and sometimes the interior handle. This aligns with Volkswagen TSB 57-18-01, which addresses moisture-related freezing of front door latches. I must enter through the passenger door. While driving, the vehicle triggers "door open" chimes and warnings. The door is latched, but the door is not locked while driving. Which causes wind to catch on the door. If I am able to get the door open from the interior handle, the door will not latch closed. The driver's door fails to lock securely while using the hand exterior sensor or the lock button on the car keys. The other doors lock, but leaves the driver's door unlocked, with no audible unlock confirmation. The selective unlock feature is also inoperative, as the interior unlock button on the driver's panel does not function. After shifting into drive or reverse, the door fails to relatch properly if opened and closed. These issues create serious safety risks: potential for the door to open unexpectedly while driving, risking loss of vehicle control or occupant ejection. Delayed emergency egress in accidents or fires if the latch remains stuck. Driver distraction from persistent false door-ajar alerts, which could mask critical warnings. Compromised vehicle security due to unreliable locking. Given the documented nature of this problem in TSB 57-18-01, this should be a recalled issue as it's a direct impact on door security and vehicle safety.

Car was great for first 100000 miles. Then it was not. While driving in heavy traffic on a three lane highway, car lost power, ability to accelerate and went into limp mode. Epc code went on. Very dangerous. Took it to several mechanics, vw dealerships, could find nothing wrong. Issue has happened over 100x since, but I am unable to afford another vehicle and pray over car continually to keep me and others on road safe. Few times car would suddenly shudder like engine was quitting. Canceled medical trip to city when this happened 50 miles from home. Have had to cancel work as well one day when this happened. Recently bought a fixd sensor and it diagnosed issues with faulty gas cap and purge valve. Replaced both. That issue seems to have resolved. Car has been burning oil like crazy. Sometimes 1l after driving 150 miles. Fuel efficiency is terrible. Even running 91 grade fuel hasn't helped. In cold weather, around -30, sometimes driver door won't close. Literally have to drive with one hand holding steering wheel and one hand on door. Scary. Newest issue this week. While driving highway speed, low oil light flashed momentarily. Then speedometer and rpm gages quit. Then entire instrument cluster went black. Was almost at work, so prayed and got there safely. After work, instrument cluster worked, but car started and stalled immediately. Mechanic code reader pulls up nothing. My fixd reader says it's a upstream oxygen sensor. Looking at youtube videos, the issue it describes sounds like this may have been what contributed to those epc codes for last few years. Borrowing a vehicle from family - car is stranded at work. This is my first and likely last vw.

While I was driving on the highway, the epc light came on and the car began to lose power. It went into "limp" mode and lost all oil. I had it diagnosed at vw carlock north nashville. They told me the "exhaust camshaft cover bolts backed themselves out causing oil to get into timing belt and make belt swell causing it to lose tension and sheer timing belt, must replace timing belt, timing belt tensioner, timing belt idle pulley, exhaust camshaft cover bolts. " this is barely out of warranty and the car has 46,000 miles. Why would the camshaft cover bolts simply come out? this is extremely dangerous, and the cost to repair it will exceed $3000. I am beyond frustrated.

The steering wheel is the principal reason for this incident. Because when I'm driving on the highway almost to get an exit to the right going at the speed limit of 70 mph the right tire passes through a high/low on the street, then my steering wheel locked lightly and started to pull to the right like for 2-3 seconds. Causing me hit the wall on the highway. Then straightened itself back, I'm just desacelerate the car and go down to see if the tire is the problem, but not really this is a risky fail on this car I feel insecure to drive it again and take the highway. I feel under risk cause its a highway with a lot of traffic of cargo trucks going more than 75 mph im available any day for inspection when needed. This isn't the first time the car do this , but in this case now caused an incident. Before I did the first maintenance on the car for the 10k miles. I took it to the dealer cause since new the car present this issue and they never found nothing wrong on the car supposedly. The specialist technician of the dealer drives with me like 20/30 minutes to verify the issue but the car just do it when it want not always, its like a glitch on the system. It activates some times with the high/lows on the street or speed bumps or on the train rails. The car never present any warning on the dashboard or emergency lights just happen for 2-3 seconds and then goes back to drive normal. Not the first time ,it does since new I got the car since 0 miles and since the 1st week I noticed this but now the fail is worst cause never has do it to me at highway like this time does it just when passes thru speed bumps at low speed.

Vehicle was parked in my driveway. My wife and I were about 10 feet from it working on another vehicle when we heard a loud pop. We looked over at the vehicle and the sunroof has exploded. It was bubbled upward and completely shattered. I contacted my vw dealer and we slowly drove the car to the shop and left it. The dealer said it probably wasn't covered under dealer warranty because it was glass. It just shattered out of the blue, this should not be my fault or at my expense.

I am submitting this complaint regarding safety recall 34j6, which is listed as incomplete for my 2013 Volkswagen Jetta hybrid. I brought my vehicle to Volkswagen of murfreesboro, tennessee to have this recall performed. The dealership refused to complete the repair, claiming it was “too old” — a statement that is factually and legally incorrect. Federal law and NHTSA regulations require manufacturers and their dealerships to repair open safety recalls at no cost, with no expiration. The dealership’s refusal is a direct violation of these requirements and represents a serious safety risk to me and potentially to other drivers. I have already contacted Volkswagen customer care, but the dealership has refused to perform the recall despite clear evidence that it remains open. Their inaction demonstrates noncompliance with federal safety regulations and unlawful denial of a mandated repair. I request that NHTSA investigate Volkswagen of murfreesboro for refusal to perform a federally required recall, ensure that my vehicle receives the required repair immediately, and take appropriate enforcement action to prevent further violations. This behavior is unacceptable and poses a significant public safety risk.

While driving home from work last night, I heard a loud noise that sounded like a gun going off right in the passenger compartment of my Jetta. A lot of wind noise followed. I thought initially that a tire might have blown out, but it was the car’s sunroof that had spontaneously and inexplicably exploded. There was no one close to me on the road, so I don’t believe a foreign object struck the roof. I was able to drive the car home, but the sunroof is demolished.

While driving southbound on I-15 near exit 300 (5300 s, murray, utah), the sunroof on my 2020 Volkswagen Jetta sel suddenly and spontaneously exploded outward without any impact or external object striking the glass. The vehicle had approximately 72,000 miles at the time. There was no tint, film, or modification to the sunroof. The weather was clear, and the road was smooth. The explosion produced a loud gunshot-like sound, followed by glass fragments scattering across the sunshade. Fortunately, the sunshade was closed, which prevented most of the glass from falling into the cabin. However, the incident caused a significant distraction which posed a serious safety risk while driving at highway speeds. No warning lights, messages, or symptoms appeared before the failure. The glass appears to have shattered from internal stress rather than impact, as there were no visible signs of an object strike. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by Volkswagen, law enforcement, or insurance, but the glass remains available for inspection if needed.

The panoramic sunroof randomly shattered while driving. Nothing hit it, and it wasnt opened or cracked.

Sensitive sunroof glass. Sunroof glass shattered a section of the glass that has an open glass area now and will leak in inclement weather conditions.

While driving down a the road, my husband, 2 children and I, with no cars around us, we heard a loud pop (almost exploding like). We all looked around and then my husband looked up and our sunroof glass was shattered. As we exited the vehicle to take a better look, you could clearly see that the glass was broken from the inside, as if it was popped like a balloon. While no glass fell in the vehicle due to the shade being shut, there was glass all over the top that my husband had to clean up. Unfortunately due to no negligence on our part, we had to file an insurance claim.

The turbocharger is out. I've had problems with coolant leaking. Mechanic pressurized tank, its fine. While parked coolant disappears, evaporates, idk. . Nothing leaking on ground. Now smoke coming out of exhaust. Car has 56,000 miles.

When switching the gear in reverse. The car's reverse transmission locks then all of the sudden makes big thump sound and sudden rush of torque/power burst while reversing. It nearly hit a pedestrian if I wasn't careful.
