I purchased a new 2019 vw Jetta gli. Since the first day I bought the car four years ago, whenever I call someone or receive a call, and my iphone is plugged in to the usb socket to connect to hands-free calling, the person on the other end hears a very big echo and voice lag. 100% of the time this happens. I end up having to hang up and call just using the speaker on my phone because no one can stand the giant echo reverb they hear on their end. I have brought the car into a few different vw dealerships to have this fixed and they never fix it. I paid $500 to a local mechanic to have the entire hardware unit replaced with a new vw --manufactured unit and the problem still exists. I googled to see if other owners of a 2019 vw Jetta are having this issue and it appears to be a very, very widespread and persistent problem across the entire brand. Vw has known about this problem for five years! they do not fix it ever. They need to be forced into fixing it by a government agency like you please! this is a safety and legal issue, since I am not able to use the hands-free calling feature in my car. It is illegal in my state to use a cell phone while driving unless it is a hands-free call. If you google this problem, you will find thousands of owners with this problem. Please issue a recall as it is a safety issue and a legal liability. Thank you! [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Because of recall, car was not engaged in park completely like it stated after I got out it rolled away down the hill and hit a tree, therefore the recall caused my accident. Yes the problem has been confirmed it is a recall. No it has not been inspected by dealer or police. Volkswagen will not engage in any further investigations they say it's my fault. There were no warning lamps.

Component/system failure/malfunction: ignition switch and starter, possibly transmission yes, available for inspection upon request. Car has randomly stalled while in motion; ignition and starter switch have been replaced as well as microswitch panel - yet problem persists. Power steering shuts down, steering wheel becomes very difficult to turn. Have to put car in neutral, typically, and try to restart while in motion. Has happened over 100 times; replaced alternator as well. Battery was replaced, brand new, yet was drained multiple times - recharged at autozone. Vehicle was brought to larry h. Miller Volkswagen - was advised the problem was fixed, as well as recall repairs (microswitch), paid for the service, went to leave dealership and problem immediately happened again. Complete shut off. Would stay running a little longer while in neutral or ac on. When the vehicle stalls the only light that comes on is the battery light. All other lights and systems work. Ran diagnostic codes through personal mechanic, friend, and dealership. . . Code states "key/ignition/computer" but unsure what specifically. The 2011 Volkswagen Jetta also does not have the original key fob. May be improper programming? continued to research all other recalls, services have been completed and yet the problem persists.
Malfunction ignition switch, and ignition cylinder, 50,000 miles on car. Took it to the dealer for diagnosis. No warning lamps or lights showed. My car just stopped allowing my key to come out of the ignition to turn the car off. I have to struggle to get it out of the ignition for 10-20 mins every time I take my key out. My car could potentially not turn on or off when the pieces go out completely.

When accelerating from 1st gear to 2nd gear, the gear gets stuck. . Rpms spike high and the car won't go any faster until it gets unstuck. This has caused issues while in traffic, nearly getting ran over by cars behind me. I can't accelerate as normal when pulling onto a road, there's the risk that the transmission gets stuck and I can't move forward. This car is only 5 years old.
I took my car for ignition switch recall but after one month I have same issue tge car won't start.
The backup camera in my 2023 vw Jetta has been malfunctioning since the car was new. It intermittently fails to display an image when shifted into reverse, creating a serious safety hazard. Backup cameras are federally required safety equipment, and when it doesn’t work, visibility behind the vehicle is completely lost. This failure also affects all associated safety systems, including rear cross traffic alerts and lane assist, reducing driver awareness and increasing the risk of a collision. We were advised early on that the issue would probably be resolved through a future software update, but that never happened. The issue continues without warning and has been documented on video. Despite this, murdock Volkswagen in logan utah refuses to perform warranty repairs because no diagnostic trouble codes are present. They have been offered video proof but declined to review it. According to the dealer, vw policy requires technicians to personally witness the malfunction or retrieve a fault code, otherwise Volkswagen will not approve warranty work. This policy effectively blocks repair of an ongoing federally mandated safety feature failure and raises serious concerns about compliance with safety obligations. I have had a lot of trouble with this car with mechanical and electrical issues. The manufactures policy of no pay if no codes is not acceptable and making our highways more dangerous than they should be. I bought the car in part because of all the safety features.
The built-in navigation and apple carplay periodically show the wrong location, offset by several hundred feet from the real one. A huge number of cases on the internet, Volkswagen does nothing about it. They update the software, but it doesn't help.

I was driving on the road going up a hill and my fuel was just alittle low about 120 miles my car sputtered and died and didn't start back up stuck on the road with barley any gaurd rail so I'm partially in the lane and I got it looked at and my high pressure fuel pump failed and sent metal scrapes all throughout my fuel system so it's estimated around 10k to replace I got told it's because the pump barley lost fuel and it uses that to lubricate itself so somthing as simple as one of the pumps going out and this problem can occur or a slight short im just reporting because many others have had this issue with the pump and mine shouldn't have even had nothing going on at 120 miles 1/4 of a tank and I did look in my tank and confirmed I had fuel that I filled up at my local gas station in the middle of the city so it's not bad diesel I own a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta 2. 0l tdi cjaa.

Without any warning whatsoever the entire electrical system goes completely off while driving the vehicle after 5 mins of it being on. This means that the lights including blinker and brake lights go off, air conditioning stops, and the entire dashboard goes off. The engine is still able to run. I am able to use the gas and breaks but I do not know what my speed is or any other information that is typically available via the dashboard. I have tried to do a reset when the problem occurs but that does not help the situation. The safety of myself and others is definitely at risk when this happens since the break lights and turning signal will no longer function at all. I can only use the hazard lights to indicate the hazard this presents. I’ve brought this issue up to multiple Volkswagen dealerships having paid the $200 diagnostics fee every time and they inform me that they are not recognizing the issue. I ask if this has anything to do with a recall that had happened to this car and been “fixed” in 2021 and they do not answer the question. I ask if it is possible that the recall was not fixed correctly and that is why I am having issues and they do not answer the question. I have also emailed customer support at Volkswagen worldwide and they state that my car never had any recalls done which is so incredibly false. I have the paperwork to confirm that it had a total of 6 different recalls done in 2021. I believe one of the recalls was never fixed properly and has only deteriorated worse since 2021.
The small detached windshield above large windshield is defective and temperature sensitive. The vehicle was parked outside all day in hot arizona ( extreme hot temps) and when we entered we put the ac on full blast. Within minutes with the car still in park. The glass exploded and shattered. Big pop sound almost like a gun shot. We looked outside and the upper windshield was cracked. I informed the dealership and manger said same thing happened to him while driving his Jetta. He thinks it was a rock. I disagree I think its defective and needs immediate action before injury occurs.

I am filing a complaint against Volkswagen group of America, I called they for assistants in fixing an issue with one of their dealers to replace an ignition switch. Volkswagen said they stand by their dealer and would not let me speak to the zone reps for that area or the dealer reps that assist the customer in coming to a solution. The ignition switch is a safety item and the dealer is trying to charge me a high price for a new key because they own a monopoly in the area.

Ignition switch stuck, and would not allow key to fully be inserted causing the cylinder to freeze and not turn on or if able to turn on not be able to turn off. I took it to the dealer to repair. They quoted me but refuse to provide a key with the new ignition system and are trying to price gouge me into buying a key that should have been provided with the new system.
Mid-drive, the vehicle gave me a "check starter system" warning, a known 2020 vw Jetta issue. However, my car has not gotten a recall message yet. The message also disappeared again after I turned off the car for 10 minutes and started it again.
Vehicle's sunroof spontaneously shattered while driving, raining down thousands of shards of glass. There was a loud bang, it sounded like a firecracker went off. I was not behind another vehicle and was going 55-60 mph. Another issue that this brought up was that after I had pulled off and assessed what happened, I wasn't initially able to buckle my seat belt due to glass in the receptacle.
My son was driving home when failure lights came on. I told him to take it to the nearest vw dealer, which he did: tynan’s vw in aurora, CO. The diagnostics’ indicated faults were cracks in the accumulator and transmission stuck in 6th gear, the exact same problem as indicated in the safety recall, issued in January of 2020 (NHTSA 19v866): hairline cracks in the accumulator housing of the transmission, clutch may not engage – loss of power to wheels leading to vehicle crash. Repair not available. In June of 2021, when a repair was available, I took the car to chapman Volkswagen scottsdale, az to perform the repair and service. The mileage at first repair on July 2, 2021 was 30828. This is the second occurance of the same issue. On may 1st after receiving the tynans’ diagnostic report I started attempting to contact chapman Volkswagen scottsdale, az. Also at notification from tynans’ vw of the second occurrence of this safety issue, I called vw customer care on early may - vw customer care contact on 5/1/24 - case number: 06229720. Outcome: I was told by vw customer care to go back to chapman Volkswagen scottsdale and tell them they did not repair it properly. Volkswagen scottsdale is taking no responsibility (current service manager is mike chadwell) after several calls and I have not been able to get a copy of their repair warranty after repeated requests.
The car is making a weird sound when I break. It sounds like liquid is moving around and another sound. The central caution off in my car and the airbags too.
Vehicle shuts down while driving. All electrical turns off, dashboard goes dark code reads starter system faulty, ignition switched off, please service vehicle.
When driving the car, it will randomly stall, lose power or not accelerate. Sometimes the epc light and oil light will illuminate other times it gives no warning. It shut off on the interstate while going 72mph. I have taken it to the dealership since a month after I got it and they keep telling me nothing is wrong with it. I have to get oil changes every month despite not driving it much and the gas consumption is 3tines what it should be. I’m having to fill the tank up three times a week despite going to and from work which is 9 miles from my home. I have taken it to the dealership and had to pay $1000s of dollars only for it to start having the same issues within a week.

Vehicle on several occasions lost power while driving causing me to coast to the side of the road. After stopping and placing car in park, tried to restart vehicle and started up with no lights on dashboard as to this issue. Took car to vw dealer and was told they would complete the recall work to fix the powertrain issues of gearbox fluid leaking causing corrosion and leaks into transmission. Received call from dealership who stated transmission was totally damaged and replacement was $11,000. 00. I went to the dealership to discuss and was told they had no specific information as to the codes received when they ran the diagnostic. They also stated they did not fix the recall and had no reason for not fixing recall other than the cost to replace the transmission was not worth it based on value of car. I strongly believe that the recall issue is the reason for any damage to the transmission as they are directly related. I have researched on-line and there are a lot of individuals with the same issue and the same responses from vw not wanting to acknowledge the recall issue and the direct relation to any transmission issues. I have driven this car and there has been issues with the automatic transmission shifting gears. I believe the cost (parts and labor) to repair the actual recall issue is the driving decision to tell customers that the transmission is bad. One post actual had a customer trade in his Jetta at the vw dealer for a vw passat and was only given $150. 00 trade-in allowance. Later the individual searched their car by VIN and found the car was for sale. Vw should be required to completely fix the recall and related transmission issues and/or purchase back these vehicles at a negotiated price. I am the original owner of this car and it only has 127,000 miles. This is only about 10,000 miles per year. Please look into similar reports of these issues by others. Vw also stopped production of this car knowing the defects that would occur or were occurring.
After buying this vehicle in June 2020, and the "emergency sos module" never malfunctioning once, I enrolled in vw's free "safe and secure" service through the myvw mobile application on March 7, 2024, and immediately received an "emergency sos error" light. The vehicle manual states that the vehicle is not safe to drive and must be taken to the dealership immediately. I then called my local vw dealership asking if I could stop by since I was in the area, and the service department stated that have seen a lot of vehicles coming in with this issue lately and the car must be brought in to replace the emergency call module. Upon bringing my vehicle in, the dealership stated that there is a diagnostic charge of over $250, in addition to the cost of potentially replacing the module (which I'm reading online others have paid between $900-$1,500 for replacement. This is completely unacceptable to pass on a charge to a customer for something that is not included in the vehicle's scheduled (or unscheduled) maintenance list, as well as has nothing to do with the mechanical operation of the vehicle – in addition to posing a safety risk. I never had an issue with this module until the minute I decided to enroll in vw's free "safe and secure" service, at which point it seems either they have installed faulty equipment in their vehicles or have an error in their software.
Ignition swith . Same as 2019 and up model recall. Nhtsa campaign number: 23v604.
Unknown. I was driving from alabama to atlanta 02/04/024. Pouring rain but no hail, no thunder nor lighting. I was not around nor under an overpass and my sunroof spontaneously shatters. I just bought this vehicle 2 weeks ago at carmax.

Manufacture hasn’t come up with repairs my car turns off complete while driving. I haven’t been able to drive it because I’m scared of being or cause an accident please help.
When driving roughly 75mph on the interstate the passenger door opened on its own. No warning was shown for 10 minutes or 8 miles. When taken to get serviced I was told it was due to freezing from the cold weather and the latch couldn’t latch. This not only confused me because I’ve never had that issue with any vehicle but the vehicle also did not show a warning of it earlier. This was extremely scary due to the fact I had a passenger in the vehicle at the time who could have been injured or someone else could have.
Ignition cylinder failure. Key would come out while driving, car would stay on, key would not turn in the ignition. Finally wheel locked and key will not turn at all therefore I can’t put my car in neutral.
Per pep boys: coolant housing on rear of engine has hole in it causing severe coolant leak cooling system has had stop leak added to coolant system possibly clogging heater core, radiator, possible coolant passages in engine block dealership did a patch job prior to purchase, has been with them for 60 days.

The car has been jerking when you’re driving and sometimes it jerks forward as you’re parking it while it’s in the parked position. Then I’m driving home from work , it’s raining heavy. I get to the valaro store by my house; I put $40. 00 worth of gas in the car after work drove home parked the car the next morning it would not turn over , would not ignite at all I took it to the shop. They said the computer was fried from the rain leaking through the windshield or under the windshield. They said it’s a major problem with this model car. The mechanic said the computer could not be fixed. He sent it to the Volkswagen repair shop it can’t be fixed and to replace it cost thousands of dollars !!! I can provide an estimate of the problems and possible repairs if needed . The mechanic stated it is not worth the cost to fix the car. I did notice that there is a powertrain recall and my mechanic is also stating that the transmission is the jerking problem we’re having. . I really think these should be recalled however I needed to submit my issues and see what you final decision would be on both situations, the powertrain transmission problem and the computer burnout problem thank you so much and hope you’re having a great day.
