36 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 12/21/2014

While driving the touchscreen radio turned off and will no longer turn back on. My phone remained connected to the blue tooth system, however, I was unable to use this function since it goes through the radio and car speakers. The next day, while driving in the rain, my wipers stopped working as well. These are major safety issues (the lack of handsfree for someone that commutes every day as well as a visibility issue when unable to use wipers in rain).

37 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 09/13/2014

My husband & I were out of town, driving down a main street, in the rain, when there was a pop, and the radio just went black. My bluetooth was still functional, however, I couldn't use it due to the fact it works through the radio. I commute a lot, not having the bluetooth functionality is a safety hazard.

38 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2011 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 09/11/2014

Turned my vehicle on and heard the radio pop and has been useless ever since. The radio in this vehicle controls everything. I have talked to vwoa and several other vw repair shops and they have told me this is not their problem and I must pay for diagnostics and repair myself. I am very displeased with the quality of parts and service in this vehicle. Also the way everyone seems to know what the problem is but lies about it really gets on my nerves. Its not right that a multi billion dollar company can continue to do this to people legally. I hope that there are good people at your organization that can make this right. I have found so many different websites, blogs , forums. And disappointed people that have this same problem. I have included just a few of the ones I have found with hundreds of thousands of complaints of the same issue. Thank you for taking the time to listen. . Read more...

39 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 09/09/2014

Touch screen radio on my 2010 vw Jetta tdi stopped working a few weeks ago. At the same time the a/c began to fail. This week after researching why the radio stopped working came across many threads discussing similar issue and the term "parisitic drain". This problem causes the battery to be drained. Woke up this morning and I got in the car and the battery is drained. Will try the dealership once it opens.

41 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 08/29/2014

Without notice factory radio with hands free/ bluetooth fails to come on. Which causes a potential hazard. Can also cause battery to drain, putting more strain on alternator, causing it to fail. Dealer wants a diagnostic charge, which finds that radio has failed. Needs to have radio replaced.

42 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 08/27/2014

I was driving home from work and the radio went off, black screen. Has not came back on, fuse is good.

43 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 07/10/2014

Premium 8 touchscreen radio with bluetooth mobile phone connectivity, entire unit no longer working. Normally a radio is not a safety concern, however, operation of this unit allows auto operator to have "hands free cell phone use", which most definitely is a safety issue when operating the vehicle. We are in our 70's and have owned many automobiles, we have never had a radio die like this. Our other vehicle is 13 years old and radio works fine. Many complaints are on the internet about the number of failed units in relatively new vehicles. It seems like this is a faulty batch of radios that Volkswagen has installed in there vehicles.

44 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 07/02/2014

Driving to work in my 2010 vm Jetta which I purchased used 3 months ago. I heard a loud pop that seemed to come from my right side speaker and the entire radio went dead! no power, no sound, no nothing.

45 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 06/02/2014

I was driving home from work, on a side road, not going more than 40 miles an hour, and in the middle of a song, my radio made a loud "pop" noise and went dead. At the time, my car had 46k miles on it, stays in a a garage at home and at work, gets regular servicing and has never had an issue. The radio hasn't worked since June and I have gotten nowhere with the dealership. I took it in for an evaluation the day after the radio went out, and they had no solution or remedy, only that I could buy a new radio and pay around $600 for the installation. I have been researching this matter and it seems a lot of other people have suffered the same fate. The car power isn't the same as it was before the radio went out, and I'm worried the dead radio is affecting the battery. I'm just not sure what to do anymore, I feel as though this isn't isolated and should bring about a recall.

46 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 05/31/2014

I dropped my 2010 Volkswagen Jetta tdi sports wagon to my dealer to have a front end alignment on may 30, 2014. My car went in with a perfectly good working radio, I went to pick up my car on may 31, 2014, the radio was display and controls were not working, I did not leave the dealer's lot. I promptly went back inside to tell them that the radio was not working and that I found it to be odd that the radio was not working when it came in with a perfectly good working radio. They kept the car and said they will do a diagnostic test on it. When they called me back they said that they were able to get the radio to work for a short time then it went dead again. The service person proceeded to tell me that I needed a new radio for $1100. 00. This seems absolutely absurd that a radio would fail after 3 yrs. I am wondering if there has been any other complaints regarding radios in 2010 Volkswagens? I went on line and there seems to be complaints, but who knows if they are valid or not. I am picking my car up today from the dealer without the working radio since I will need my car for transportation. I would appreciate any help or advice that you can give me.

47 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 05/26/2014

Radio and handsfree bluetooth system stopped working. Dealership recommended calling vw customer service. Contacted customer service only to be told nothing they could do. I feel this is a safety concern regarding ability to use handsfree capability. With very little research it appears this is a common problem and common response to it by vw. If they knowingly installed defective components they should be responsible for making things right. I have had several other recalls already for this vehicle and feel this may be approaching "lemon" status.

48 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2002 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 05/19/2014

The car takes 15 minutes to heat up to 190, otherwise the car won't drive forward in proper gear without jerking. It drives like it is a stick shift instead of an automatic changing gear on it's own. The car stops without me pressing the brakes and sometimes just turns off unexpectedly. It smells like gasoline in the car. The cd player, clock and vehicle electrical malfunctions on and off. The engine light stays on. Autonation performed a multi point inspection and says the car needs a timing belt, coolant flange and after run pump, and rollers.

49 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 08/06/2013

Entire stereo system (including radio, cd player, bluetooth) stopped working.

50 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 10/01/2012

First incident: occurred in fall 2012, exact date unknown. Slowing to turn right, vehicle stalled without warning. Power steering was not responding. It was taken to dealership the next day. Vehicle was evaluated, nothing was found. We were told that they could see some sort of power interruption, but could find nothing wrong with any of the systems involved. Second incident: occurred about 1 months after first incident. While slowing to a stop, intending to make a left turn out of parking lot, again vehicle stalled without warning. Did not take car to dealership, as it had just recently been evaluated. Gas was < 1/8 tank filled, and parking lot exit was on a slight decline, suspected maybe it was related to low fuel, and we tried to keep the car above 1/4 tank full at all times thereafter. Third incident: occurred 4/29/14. Slowing to pull into a parking space, again engine stalled without warning. I noted that the battery indicator light on the dashboard lit up slightly before or as car was stalling. Power steering failed as well when car stalled. Radio / heater / other electronics seemed unaffected after a brief flicker. Fourth incident: occurred about 20 minutes later on 4/29/14. Slowing for a stop light, vehicle stalled unexpectedly. Car is due for inspection, appointment in 2 days. Dealership asked to investigate stalling as well.

51 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2011 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 01/14/2011

While driving the windshield wipers would randomly creep up the windshield and when the wipers got all the way to service mode, all the doors would unlock. The radio would fade in and out and the when adjusting the sound on the radio loud cradking, popping and static sould would come from the radio speakers.

52 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 02/01/2008

I own a 2006 vw Jetta. . . 2-3(under warranty) years or so after buying this car new I had to have the headliner & radio replaced due to rubber used in manufacturing of this vehicle melted causing fabric to come down & buttons on radio to melt. Today March 24, 2015 w/44,000 miles on my car I discovered that rubber used to glue vinyl material to inside door panels had also caused material to come down due to melting. As I write this to you my car is being repaired at the cost of approximately $550. 00. I would love to continue purchasing vw's because I love them but this experience to say nothing of the cost & inconvenience has made me question whether or not to purchase another vw in the future. Please respond to this complaint and if I do not hear from vw I will post this complaint on my facebook page.

54 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2003 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 01/14/2008

Recently the radio in my 2003 Volkswagen Jetta wolfsburg edition stopped working. At first the radio station was displayed but I was unable to get any buttons to work except the eject button, the volume knob, and the on/off button. The last radio station I listened to was displayed but no sound could be heard. I started to look for help on the internet, possibly a fuse or something simple but what I found was completely the opposite. According to several websites, the radio has an internal defect which fries the radio when the battery starts to get weak. I work at a Cadillac dealership so I tested the battery and it tested marginal. I checked with a couple vw dealerships and they both told me I would have to replace the radio. I just received my aftermarket radio, which I ordered after hearing horror stories of replacing the radio with an oem unit and having them go bad again the next time the battery went dead. I still have the oem radio, and will hang on to it for while.

55 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 10/15/2007

My radio/navigation system on my 06 vw Jetta has stopped working and resorted to "safe mode" after four attempts of the dealership attempting repair, they have stated that they will supply and install a new radio. This is still yet to happen. Also, the instrument panel clock does not keep correct time, resets back to 12:00 each time I get in the car. The weather indicator on the instrument panel dings with a snowflake, when there is no precipitation.

56 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2007 Volkswagen Jetta

57 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2004 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 08/15/2006

There were problems with the radio starting one year ago. On three occasions the cd would not eject and the radio would not play even though it could be tuned and adjusted. The cd ejected two of the three times when driving fast over a large bump. The third time I had to hit the side of the radio three times before it ejected. On a different occasion the radio turned on without sound and the cd player would not take the cd. After driving the vehicle for 10 minutes, the stereo accepted the cd and it played. Today the cd I put in was being read but no sound was present. When switching to radio, with the cd in, no sound was present for the radio. Only after the cd was removed and the stereo was turned off then on did it have sound. The dealership says in order to replace the stereo they need to see the problem. However, I can't just stop in when it is occurring because other people have appointments. By the time I have the appointment, the stereo is working and in their eyes it is not a problem.

58 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2003 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 07/27/2006

Out of no where my radio on my 2003 Volkswagen Jetta wagon stopped working. All I got was static on my radio. After reviewing several vw forums, I found out that my radio antenna had corroded inside. I took it apart and cleaned all the corrosion and found that the main wire on the circuit board was broke. I had to solder a new wire onto it. Many vw owners are complaining about this same problem, but Volkswagen will not do anything about it. A antenna should not go bad in a three year old car.

59 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2001 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 05/10/2006

: the contact stated upon inspection, it was noticed the brake light switch was inoperable. The dealership replaced the brake light switch and determined there was a NHTSA recall, # 06v183000, regarding the exterior lighting brake light switch. The VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was alerted. Updated 6/27/2006 - the switch was replaced by the original owner under recall on 4/26/05 with 44653 miles. The replacement switch failed one year later at 52675 miles. The coolant pump failed and caused the vehicle to overheat. The front woofer in the door failed internally causing the sound to be distorted.

65 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2001 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 04/22/2001

Since I have had my Jetta I have had to keep oil in the trunk because the car burns oil, I was told by the dealer that it is normal for a car to use that much oil, I have had to have the brake switch replaced, the arm rest latch replaced, cd player replaced twice, my passenger rear brake lights burn out regularly (only passenger side), my key in the ignition alarm and lights left on alarm turned and stayed on everytime I drove my car. The dealer's solution to all these problems was to downgrade my car and buy a vw beetle. I purchased a 2002 used beetle - dealer allowed me take car and promised to fix anything on the following Monday. There was a light on the dash that was lit up called epc - I asked the dealer what the light was for and they said that the alignment needed to be adjusted no big deal they would fix it when I returned on Monday. I drove the car off the lot got about 20 miles for the dealership and the car died on the freeway!!!!! while waiting for the tow truck I read in the car manual that epc stood for electric power control - it said if this light goes on do not attempt to drive - tow to dealership immediately - after that I marched right back to the dealer and got my Jetta back - however I still have all of the above problems and few to add to the list defective electric window, noisy brakes when in reverse even after brakes were replaced. I can't wait to turn the piece of @#$%# in to the dealer when my lease is up and walk away - I just feel sorry for the fool they turn around and sell it to!.
