Issue: difficulty filling gas tank at all gas stations. Fuel pump automatically shuts off when I insert the pump into the gas tank. In order to get the pump to fill the gas tank, I need to pull the pump out and keep nozzle close to the opening of the gas tank. It takes multiple attempts to get the pump to fill the tank. Because I have to keep the pump close to the opening of the gas tank, on two separate occasions the gas pressure from the pump was strong which caused it to spray out of the gas tank, and all over myself. This is a hazard! note, I have taken the car to the dealership and they were unable to identify the problem.

I just brought my 2010 vw Passat to the dealer to investigate why my gas take has trouble filling. They told me that the vent system in the tank failed and that I would need to replace the whole tank to fix it. This car is only 4 years old and the tank should not have failed. I'm not sure if it's also a safety issue if I keep driving it. I also believe that this should be the responsibility of vw.

After filling my vehicles gas tank and I was smelling a potent gas odor and it went away after a few miles. When arrived at my hotel as I was away on business, I parked the vehicle for the night. The next morning when I woke up there was a large puddle of fuel under the rear of my car. I can no longer fill the tank more than half way or this same issue happens. I saw that there was a recall and I was never informed of the recall by the manufacturer, I would like to have this issue resolved with no out of pocket costs to me.
