I took my car to a local repair mechanic that told me that he had to troubleshoot the problem with vw parts experts I went to fremont auto center in fremont California, 94536 they have a record of my visit and troubleshooting the problem. They identified with vw that the fuel pump module was actually recalled, now when you look up the VIN number the recalled part does not come up. So I took my car to the vw dealership located here: 39695 balentine dr, newark, CA 94560 they identified that the part is recalled but said they would not be able to replace the part because it did not come up under a recall when you search the VIN and instead want me to pay $180 to run a diagnostic to "identify the problem" and then "replace the part" would cost its own amount. Who the hell says something like that.

I took my car to Volkswagen only for them to tell me that the coolant needed to be flushed due to the epc light I spent 300 bucks and a week later they told me that the fuel pump or fuel system needed to be cleaned take the gas out and put more gas in and it needed to be replaced spark plugs which is another 800 bucks that is almost 1000 within two weeks for a epc light.

The vehicle was in motion on a major city thoroughfare when it suddenly shut down and stalled in the middle of the street, in traffic. It would not restart and had to be moved out of the street. It was towed to a local dealership for diagnostics. The fuel pump and control unit are defective and made the car inoperable.
Purchased vehicle less than 6 months ago and would not start. Had it towed and tech states it is fuel pump and fuel tank.
While the vehicle is parked the fuel pump continues to run after turning engine off; the issue disappears if the engine is started then turned off; fan like noise comes from under the right-rear wheel while the fuel pump runs with the engine off; this issue is similar to recall campaign number 17v509000, or vw recall number 20ae; battery drained and then engine was not able to start;.

Fuel pump has gone out. Volkswagen indicates my particular car doesn't qualify under the recall for the recall report 17v-509. This is an obvious issue with the 2009 Passat.

As I drive the car "hesitates". Its almost as if it accelerates and decelerate on its own. As I look online I see there was a recall regarding this issue as its a fuel pump but as I call the dealership they state there is no recall on my specific vehicle.

Vehicle stalls at red lights or when idle. Epc light continues to light up. Continue to take vehicle to dealers each time they were unable to fix stating change the oil it is bad. At this time we are replacing engine at 86,000 miles, fuel pump was also changed in December 2020.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 Volkswagen Passat. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, the vehicle stalled with the check engine warning light and several other unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to valley auto world Volkswagen located at (3810 sycamore dairy rd, fayetteville, nc 28303) where the vehicle was diagnosed with a fuel pump failure. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 91,344.

The car has stalled multiple times while driving. Lights pop on and the fuel pump is the error code, along with misfires. I have had at least a dozen or more close calls with the stall out and failure to start up, and at least 2-3 times I have almost been seriously injured or killed due to the stall out. It stalls when its in motion or even when it is parked and is starting up.
I bought the car around mid-September 2019. I've been driving it since and just recently, I'd say December 9th, 2019 to be exact, got a letter in the mail saying my vehicle had a recall for the airbag. I went online to the car brands website and looked up my exact car to verify. Upon doing this, I discovered it had a second recall for the fuel pump. I took the car in for the free repairs, only to be told that they can't fix the fuel fump issue as my check engine light is on. From what I've been told by a mechanic I went to, the light is on due to a leak in my vacuum pump. He said it'd cost about $600 for part and labor, but that this fix isn't extremely important and that my car should run well enough without this fix. Me being broke, I didn't get it fixed. Well, now that I'm here to get my recall parts fixed, I'm being told I can't get one of them fixed, and I'd have to pay around $124 for a diagnosis of why the check engine light is on, or pay the estimated cost to fix what's casuing it (which I'd only know if I allowed the diagnosis). So no matter what, I'd have to pay money, or just not get my fuel pump, which was recalled, fixed. Is this something they can do? seems unlikely they'd have to clear the light to fix the fuel pump. . .

While driving at highway speed the vehicle suffered a sudden and catastrophic failure of the high pressure fuel pump. The vehicle has only 43k on it and was just purchased after receiving the tdi update 3k miles ago. The fuel pump failure occurred around 60-70 mph on the highway and lead to the vehicle losing all power and barely making it to the shoulder of the road. I have now learned that this failure has completely destroyed my fuel system and is not covered by vw even thoughthey are using the same part that they are covering for the 2010-2013 model years they offered an extended warranty on. Not only is this incredibly unsafe, as a consumer this type of unpredictable and common failure is unacceptable.
Twice while driving, the fuel delivery system failed leaving the automobile disabled on the highway. On both occasions it was reported that metal was found in the fuel pump and all components of the fuel system were replaced. The two incidents happened within the first year of ownership after the car was taken out of storage for the exhaust/ emissions recall. The first occurrence was within 2 months and within 2000 miles. The second was shortly after the first 10,000 mile service and within 9 months from the first.

Fuel pump cracked, and placement of pump caused gasoline to pool underneath back seat inside the car, right under where my 4 year olds car seat is. Tech started we are extremely lucky that it didnt catch on fire, because it was basically a bomb directly underneath him that could have gone off anytime the car was turned on or running. Only found out about it when I took it to get the fuel pump module replaced, and only found out about that recall when the car started stalling out while driving. It is now at Volkswagen of macon waiting on parts for a $1,000 repair. We are going to get rid of the car because we are not putting my son back in a car where that is even possible.
The vehicle has issues with the fuel pump , intake & cylinders . I was able to change the fuel pump but noticed online the vehicle has been recalled for these same issues . When turning the car on and driving it turns off and hardening the steering wheel.
Dec 26 2018 the car stalled as I was backing up out of my parking space, pushed the car back into the space and waited 20 minutes and the car started and I drove it to the vw dealer and was told do not use wawa gas. June 21 2019 the car stalled as I was backing out of a parking space at trader joes pushed the car back into space . Waited 20 minutes started car went to the dealer and they said they could not find any problems car had 69,050 miles still under warranty. October 1 st backing out of trader joes parking lot and car stalls again wait 30 minutes and then drive to the dealer and I am told I need a fuel pump and module. And now the car is out of warranty. . I have read that several models of vw have been recalled for the fuel pump but mine was not included.
Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Volkswagen Passat. The contact stated that while driving at 55 mph, there was an abnormal fuel odor in the vehicle. The contact stated that after inspection of the vehicle under and around the vehicle, the contact lifted up rear passenger seat and noticed that the fuel pump flange on the top of the fuel pump was fractured. The vehicle was not repaired. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000. The VIN was not available. Ah.

The car battery is fine, the car shuts off immediately when pushing on brake, leaks brake fluid, cannot keep running, cannot get to vw to get the current 4 recalls taken care of unless I can pay for towing, can't run because of fuel pump and the apparent issues vw is having already on other 2010 models brake system, this is the same year and it is obvious that the Passat 2010 are having the same issues with the abs! Volkswagen will not to the vehicle even the issue of inability to drive is due to the recall of fuel pump and the not yet recalled 2010 Passat brakes (abs) , causing it to shut offf. The electrical goes haywire. Sorry for non tech terms but this is what is going on, it immediately says service brakes then shuts off. Brake fluid is leaking, as well as coolant.
Took car in for recall on air bags drove home 3 minutes from dealer. Next morning car dies out in the middle of busy intersection and will not restart nearly causing an accident 3 blocks from home. Dealer says they did nothing to engine. And would charge me 175. 00 to diagnose . Vw had this problem with earlier year Passat vehicles when power was interrupted and would cause fuel pump failure.
Tl- the contact owns a 2019 Volkswagen Passat. The contact stated while driving at various mph the vehicle would idle along with the epc light and the engine lights illuminated. The vehicle also struggles to shift gears (accelarting properly) and at low speeds the vehicle emit an abnormal noise in the engine. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (heritage Volkswagen catonsville 6624 baltimore national pike, baltimore, MD 21228) for diagnosis and repairs. The diagnosis was a replacement fuel pump module, fuel injector,) however the failure reoccured. The manufacturer was notified but offered no resolution. The approximate failure mileage was 6,000 tp.

The fuel pump of my car stopped working last Monday March 11, 2018 for no reason.
Vehicle started having issues with the fuel gauge showing that the vehicle was empty when we fill up the tank. After the tanks was about 3/4 or less then gauge will start working. I reported this problem to the dealership when the car was new, but they could not find any issues, at one point, if I remember well they said it was a sensor. The last few months the car started having issues starting and we thought it was the battery. Battery was replaced and it happened a few more times, when we parked the car it will not start. The next day starts with no issues for a few days or weeks. Finally, on 3/8/19, the car will will not start anymore and it had to be towed. The engine turns and everything looks fine. When I did some research, it shows some fuel pump issues with 2014 Volkswagen cc and other models, but not the Passat. I remove the back seat of the car to access the fuel pump to check if I can feel the pump running and check if there was power to the pump. To my surprise, when I removed the plug to check the power, the connector was completely corroded and there was some liquid (assume was water) on the connector. I went to the dealership and reported the issue, but I was ignored as they never seen any issues with the pump. On 2014, we bought two Passat a few months apart. The first one was having issues when running, the engine stalls. We reported to the dealership and they could not find any issues. After a few accidents scares, meaning it was very close to happens, we had to rid of the other Passat last year. Now with this issue on the second Passat, we think that issues with cars are related. It is strange that some there are recalls for other vw model for fuel pump the same year but not my car. Please see the attached pictures. I have the old pump on my possession if needed for any reason.
This car only has 65000 original one owner miles and has experienced all & more of the current recalls with same model yr, vw local dealerships (2) refuse to acknowledge the problems (one even tried to double charge me for bosch abs part last year before the recall to fix) and numerous emails to vw have gone unanswered. Most recent issues in last 1. 5yrs have been fuel pump went out and I paid to replace (dealer scammed us by throwing out dead brand new aaa stamped and warranted battery, they sd we needed new one and old one already picked up from dealer to expose of, charged $200 for that as well. I paid for the abs light repair which I have paid and diagnosed numerous times for last 10yrs to fix and finally just paid the over $1000. To get it fixed for safety reasons. 9 months ago rear brake lights would come on randomly when parked and locked killing the battery. I would drive it to charge it up but since it is a car we don't drive often or far, it continued to do the same for a few weeks until it dawned on me that the seat warmer on those cars could leave an open current, turned that off, good for a few weeks, then found out same for the trunk light, unplugged and capped that and it is far better, but something still. After reading online vw Passat forums and recalls I know 2 dealerships sd they performed the brake light sensor recall, but was it truly done and causing the issue. . . Answer is no, vw dealers 2x after checking and billing vw for the repair falsified doing the recall. I know because I checked it and the part is original from 2002 stamped on it and I replaced it and have it along with most all other receipts from 2003 to today. Feb 11, 2019 I opened a case and supposed formal investigation with vw corporate customer care (very nice people), lied like the rest of the company and never heard a word. . . +++18 vw and audis personally, since 1991. . . Done!.

Hello NHTSA I have a 2008 Volkswagen Passat that was recalled about an airbag this to me was unsafe I tried to get it fixed a soon as possible, getting to the Volkswagen dealership I leave my Passat to them to fix it like the letter I received in the mail said I would pay anything out of pocket, I get my car in less than an our supposedly fixed my air bag but bit only did they change my air bag but they tampered with a few other things one of them being the fuel pump control moduel because according to them the cars parts where all recalled, now I'm getting to my complain I took my car in in good condition now my car turns off at random time being in the street or in the freeway driving when I fill it up with gas I have to strip on my engine for it to turn on or it won't start, also the car keeps marking tire pressure every day I used this car before I took it into Volkswagen , my car was not like this I gave them a call to make an appointment but I don't really trust the people who I believe messed up my vehicle it is in the bakc now sitting u can contact me at (xxxx) my name is (xxxx) thansk you for your time parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I had the recall for the fuel pump repaired in August 2018 by the wilmington dealership. I don't believe it was either done right or however they did it did not fix the problem because in October 2018 my car is having the recall problem starting again which is causing gasoline to run out immediately and this time it's worse than before the fumes are now in the vehicle even when the car isn't on. I believe I should have this recall issue repaired again because it should not have only lasted 2 months and needing the fuel pump module to be replaced/repaired again but problem is worse the second time around. Acceleration and stalling is becoming more of an issue again.
~tl the contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Passat. The contact noticed a strong fuel odor inside the vehicle and a fuel leak underneath the vehicle. The dealer (southern Volkswagen greenbrier, 1248 s military hwy, chesapeake, va 23320, (757) 424-4689) indicated that they previously repaired the vehicle when the fuel pump control module was replaced; however, there was a fuel leak after the recall repair was performed. The dealer indicated that the fuel pump may need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 102,272.
This is my 2nd time writing only because the problem seems as if it may be more then just one thing! thinking it was ecm or something electrical, now may be the timing chain or fuel pump or combination of all! the car just randomly shuts off! on the highway, or at a stop, or just at cursing speed! some times it comes back on, other time it turns over and shuts right off again! I noticed a lot of people having similar problems with this make and model, also noticed a recall for exact symptom my car has, and for the same make model and year as my car but my VIN is not listed in the recall??? hope something is done to fix this situation soon so that I can remain a loyal volkwagen customer!.

3 different occasions my car would loose power and shut down on the highway. I had it towed and all three times they stated it was different things and that they had to take steps in replacing good parts to find the bad ones. Just to find out that it was the fuel pump control module that they thought it was the whole time. Now there is a recall on it. Which I have summitted the paper work and they conveniently cannot find. This past weekend my car wouldn't turn over at all when I tried to start it in a parking lot so I had it towed for the 4th time in 2. 5years. They are claiming that the engine motor is bad and it would cost $7500. 00 to replace. The technician cannot find any oil leaks nd claim there was only about a half of court of oil in the motor. I had the oil changed less than 2 months prior and both Volkswagen and my mechanic said that there is no way it could of run for that long on half a court of oil and should hold 5. 6 quarts. Which leads to the motor eating so to speak the oil. ( a bad engine) although I spent over $20'000. 00 on this vehicle and have had all these issues Volkswagen is telling me that they will not help at all with repairing the engine. That I will have to eat the $9000. 00 still owed on the vehicle. Words cannot describe how disappointed I am with the customer service by Volkswagen.
I purchased a Volkswagen Passat diesel and decided to keep it even after the whole diesel scandal. Two months after the second part of the "fix" my check engine light comes on so I decided to take it to the dealership because my warranty was extended through the whole diesel lawsuit. I was told that my high pressure fuel pump failed because of bad diesel. I asked the service center how they determined my bad diesel was tested and they demonstrated a vw approved special tool with a box that had a smiley face and frown face emoji. The repair facility advised me that they could't perform the repairs under warranty because of the poor quality of the diesel. I called Volkswagen of America and got the run around. I had to use my vehicle's car insurance to cover the $7400 repair bill. As a ten year veteran Volkswagen/Audi technician I/we are well aware of the design flaw of this high pressure fuel pump. The pump fails and sends metal fragments throughout the entire fuel system all the way back to the fuel tank. I would be ok replacing a $800 high pressure fuel pump but this design allows the metal from the high pressure fuel pump which is driven by the timing belt to recirculate back into the tank and further contaminate the entire system and not to mention the four fuel injectors at $500 a piece (times four). I called the Volkswagen diesel settlement line and explained my frustration and even made the person who answered the phone laugh with the whole smiley face and frown face tester. I am a factory trained technician and even I don't understand the logic behind this, give me percentages and tolerances which I can understand. Unfortunately this will be my last Volkswagen I will ever purchase I know this doesn't matter much to vw but I will be definitely spreading the word.
Tl-the contact owns a 2008 Volkswagen Passat. The contact stated that the fuel pump warning light illuminated. The vehicle was serviced under NHTSA campaign number: 17v509000 (fuel system, gasloine) but the remedy failed to repair the vehicle. The contact mentioned that the fuel pump warning light remained illuminated after the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 150,000. Jw.
I purchased the vehicle from a used car dealer on 7/26. I test drove it and everything was running smoothly. The vehicle had 124k miles. I bought the car in las vegas, nv with the intent on taking it to California for my teenage daughter to have in college. On 7,30, I was driving and the vehicle would not accelerate ast 20, like it was placed in neutral. This occured in the evening so I could not call anyone. I coasted off the road. Turned the vehicle off, then restarted and it worked fine. I looked on this website and saw there were recalls for the fuel pump module. I called a dealership who couldn't do it until late August. Findlay Volkswagen scheduled me for 8/6. I was leaving town so I left the vehicle with family. I picked the vehicle up on 8/17 and headed to California. The same thing occured twice while on the road. We called a local vw dealer, they said it would cost $144 just to look at it. I took it to a local mechanic who tested the vehicle and said it the actual fuel pump. I contacted Volkswagen corporate, who were very responsive but can not help. Here I am, with a vehicle that could stall on the road, causing an accident that can harm or kill others. Volkswagen knows its the faulty module that can cause the pump to fail, but leaves customers high and dry to have to replace the pump. My daughter saved her own money to buy a reliable vehicle and now we have to fork over more money. No engine lights are on. It's disappointing and sad.
On 2 July 2018 I received notice of the fuel pump ecm recall. I immediately went to my local dealer and had the recall work performed - replacement of the ecm, relocation of the ecm from top of pump to rear right wheel well. On 7 July 2018, I folded the rear seat down to expand the cargo area of the vehicle. On 15 July 2018, I returned the rear seat to seating position. Later that day, the fuel pump failed while driving. Took to nearest dealer who charged $140 diag fee to tell me the fuel pump was bad - well, duh! the issue correlates to the ecm being recently traded out. The fuel pump itself was replaced 3 months earlier. They didn't notice the coincidence. Vwusa merely played a game of operator between me and the dealer and was totally impotent and unwilling to intervene. It was their recall work that killed my fuel pump and now I need to pay for another pump? never mind invalid diagnostics and fees, and time lost.
Tl-the contact owns a 2008 Volkswagen Passat. The contact stated their fuel pump module runns continuosly. The module is now leaking gasoline into the vehicle back seat where their child sits. The fuel seaps into the backseat of the vehicle which comes from the fuel pump. No warning lights illuminated, the vehicle was taken to the contacts home. Then vehicle was not diagnossed ase of yet. The contact scheduled an appointment at gehbheart Volkswagen (303) 444-1644 2470 49th st, boulder, CO 80301 for the 21st. The vehicle was not repaired and the contact called a volkswaken dealer hotline and the denied all problems. The manufacturer was not informed or made aware of the issue. The failure mileag was 120,000. Jw.
