There is a recall involving my 2008 volkswagon Passat sedan. The fuel pump recall. There isn't a remedy and I just feel very unsafe until something is fixed! I hope to hear back from somebody soon!.
Hi I have a 2006 Volkswagen Passat 2. 0t and it has two recalls on the vehicle. I called Volkswagen to fix the recalls but they saying they can't fix my car because it won't start. I told them that the fuel pump control module recall could be the reason it won't start and that they need to fix it even if it doesn't start. The guy name ryan say he will have to charge me $130 to see what's wrong with the car before he can fix the recalls. I think he full of it and just want to find something else wrong with my car so he can say OH this the problem and try to charge me a arm and a leg. I feel like just because my car won't start doesn't mean he can't fix my recalls. Am I wrong because I thought by law no matter the circumstances or condition of the vehicle the recalls have to be fixed.

August 16, 2017 a recall was issued regarding the fuel pump control module. It's going on a year now and there is no recall remedy available. My vehicle is getting persistently worse and my vehicle is not getting repaired in a timely manner.
The car has a strong gasoline smell both inside and out with no visible leaks. Mechanic performed a smoke test and found a hairline cracks in the top of the fuel pump thus allowing gasoline vapors to escape. Mechanic states he has seen this problem several times before in these Volkswagens.
Fuel pump caused cutting off , delayed starting which led to the car being inoperable.
Tl the contact owns a 2010 Volkswagen Passat. While driving 70 mph, the vehicle lost power. There was no warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was able to coast to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to Volkswagen of alamo heights (located at 1402 ne loop 410 expressway, san antonio, TX 78209, (210) 828-1201) where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 17v509000 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided case number: 180378267. The approximate failure mileage was 109,982.
There is a known issue with the fuel pump control module. Volkswagen has been aware of this since 8. 16. 2017. On certain vehicles, there could be an interruption in electrical power to the fuel pump control module. This could result in the fuel pump running continuously, resulting in a drained battery and/or a no start condition, or cause a loss of motive power while the vehicle is in motion, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. The solution is to replace the fuel pump control module, however, as of today, my vehicle is still not showing as eligible for this repair, despite the fact that this has been a known issue for more than 8 months.
Fuel pump control module or fuel pump failing per diagnosis from independent repair shop. Car was brought in because this failure is draining battery while parked overnight. Noticed a buzzing sound from rear of car. 2+ amp draw. Cars has periodically stuttered upon acceleration also.
Tl the contact owns a 2010 Volkswagen Passat. The contact stated that while driving approximately 3 mph, the vehicle stalled and the instrumental panel illuminated. The vehicle was pushed into a parking lot but did not restart. The vehicle was towed to the Volkswagen of panama city dealer (850-763-5495, located at 3605 e 15th st, panama city, FL 32404) where the technician stated that the high pressure fuel pump was faulty and was not covered by the recall. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 17v509000 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and would look into the matter. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was about 120,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Out of the blue the low oil pressure light came on and said shut off car. Immediatly pulled over and shut car off. Oil was fine because I check it constantly. Come to find out that the high pressure fuel pump has a thimble called the cam follower. The cam follower blew off through the timing chain and housing. My motor is done. It has 109,000 miles on it. Vw knows about this issue. I just bought this car less than a year ago. I don't have thousands of dollars to replace the engine. Vw is well aware of this issue on my 2006 Passat 2. 0t. This is not right. My car has now been sitting in my driveway since March because I dont have the funds to replace the motor.
My fuel pump modulator went out and the dealership made me pay for it up front even though there is a recall out for it since there is no fix for it. I have been waiting for this recall to get fixed so I can get reimbursed for the part that I fixed for my car.
This vehicle had catastrophic engine failure due to a faulty cam chain tensioner. This is been known by Volkswagen as a service bulletin was issued in 2011. I was driving on a city st. And had to push the vehicle to the side. The fuel pump and sending units have also failed in this vehicle along with the turbocharger diverter valve which was a defective item. All these items have been known by Volkswagen for some time. The cost of repair on the vehicle has been over $5,000. I believe all these issues should have been a recall item. Failures on some of them have been happening at 20,000 miles. They could pose a safety hazard depending on where you were driving. Volkswagen has denied any reimbursement on most of these items. Had consumers known of these issues the cost would have been significantly less if the defective parts have been replaced. I am currently joining an active class action suit against Volkswagen for the timing chain tensioner.
I'm concerned that there could be an interruption in electrical power to the fuel pump control module. This could result in the fuel pump running continuously, resulting in a drained battery and/or a no start condition, or cause a loss of motive power while the vehicle is in motion, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. In addition, the airbag recall is a great concern. I'm also concerned for any other recalls associated with my Volkswagen. Now that takata has settled the lawsuit, I hope my concerned can be resolved expeditiously.
My car was driving fine until Feb 2018 after I get it back from getting the suspension redone. After driving it 20 miles my car stops running as I am driving through a major road leaving the military base. I get it towed to the Volkswagen dealership and they state that the high pressure fuel pump had failed (after 2 months of fixing my regular fuel pump) causing the engine to loose compression and now they said I need to pour in a new engine and new high pressure fuel pump and a turbo that was scraping metal shavings into my engine as well.
Fuel pump control module I have a special needs child that requires me to be in my vehicle 85% of the time I have loved my vw Passat and enjoyed driving it up till about 1. 5 years its been one fix after another some major some not ive had check engine light problems, adding oil in between changes tire rod etc this issue im having at this time is on recall list ( fuel pump control) I have been put in several unsafe moments left stranded. I have been on hwy my car stalls out cause driving back an fourth to duke hospital im on hwy alot, I am still paying on this vehicle w/ ( $7000. 00) owed on it im uncomfortable putting my children an myself in my car I have contacted vw several times about this with same response no info no replacement part no nothing. . . . . . . I have had the air bag recall fixed but this is a very very serious issue right here I will go above an beyond to get something done I am without a car at the moment last night on 1/22/2018 I was left once again stranded this time didnt start back like getting no fuel very unhappy . . Please get this straight ASAP I still have to pay my loan for a car that isnt running at 100% with a major recall.
The contact owns a 2006 Volkswagen Passat. While driving 25 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The failure recurred twice. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 17v509000 (fuel system, gasoline). The vehicle was not repaired. A local dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.
The smell of gasoline inside the car is unbearable, I saw leaks from the bottom, running down the gas tank, so I removed the back seat, and found that the top of the fuel pump was cracked in many parts, and fuel comes out, non stop, through those cracks. This is not supposed to happen with the fuel pumps. It is an extremely dangerous issue, specially when the electrical connexion are right there. A little spark can be catastrophic. A few years ago, Volvo had a recall on this exact issue. I think vw should do it also. God knows how many lives are in danger right now. Mostly children that ride in the back seats. I am trying to cover the cracks with a paste, but it seems it is not working. The gasoline keeps coming out even when the car is parked and off for a long time, I disconnected the pump, and it does not stop. I did not take pictures before I put the paste, but even with the paste, the gas is coming out through it.
We received a safety recall for the fuel pump in August 2017 (safety risk descrpition loss of motive power while the vehicle is in motion could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. ) and it still has no fix. This is very worrying as it could lead to serious injury for my family. Sometimes it seems my fuel pump is hot under the rear passenger seat.
"in relation to fuel pump recall". . . . Since the year started my car has been hesitant to start and sometimes needs a second start. On January 9th I started my car up in the morning and about 3 symbols popped: the gas cap, engine check, and the warning symbols. I turned it off securing my gas cap and waited a few mins and turned it back on. Now the engine check is gone so I continue my morning commute. Eventually the gas cap symbol is off, warning is still on but now the engine check is back on so I went to get it checked out at advance auto parts with emission and leakage codes identified. So then I bring it to a local shop who specializes in vw and they tell me I have fuel, oil, and coolant leakage. They cant fix the fuel leak but the other two is fixable which only brings to me concern about this recent recall. I have read other drivers of my vehicle (2006 Passat) getting involved in fender benders, car stalls, engine problems etc. This will be a huge inconvenience if the car gives out on me and I need a quick resolution to this because I have a child who just turned 4 months and cant risk getting into a car wreck with her in the car. Vw at least give us a time frame on this issue because you're putting our lives at risks.
Recall #17v509 fuel pump control module 8/16/17 I had to have this repaired 1/6/18 as it was causing my car to shut off while driving and not start. The following was repaired fuel pump in tank with high pressure, module, washer, fuel pump control unit, fuel pump controller. The vehi.
I was on the highway with my car in motion when my car began to sputter and stall forcing me to pull over and have my car towed home, where it only starts after turning over multiple times and will not shift gears properly due to an improper fuel pump not giving the engine enough fuel.
There was an interruption in electrical power from the fuel pump control module. This resulted in the fuel pump running continuously, resulting in a drained battery and no start condition, or cause a loss of motive power while the vehicle was idle at traffic lights. Took the car to vw garage who were aware of the problem said there would be a safety recall soon, but I should pay for repair and claim money back once recall was active, was told this would be early part of 2018. Still no recall and over $400 out of pocket. Car stalled and cut out at traffic lights due to this fault, vw were very aware of problem but as yet no recall made, despite vw assuring me there would be one.
Takata recall-fuel pump control module: my car won't start, my keys get stuck in the ignition this happens when its stationary. My battery keeps draining. The coolant and water pump are leaking. There are sensor issues. Defective lightbulbs. The vehicle shakes when driving on the highway or street. The steering wheel loses power when turning causing the car to almost spin out of control. The brakes wont stop immediately when coming to a stop.
The contact owns a 2006 Volkswagen Passat. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 17v509000 (fuel system, gasoline). While driving approximately 80 mph, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was towed to autobarn city Volkswagen (5330 w irving park rd, chicago, IL 60641, (773) 794-7800) where it was confirmed that the fuel pump control module needed to be replaced. The parts to do the repair were unavailable. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was provided with case number: 171754896. No further assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available/parts distribution disconnect.
The car died as I was driving down a city road, I was able to veer the car to the side of the road as it was rolling before it stopped completely. I had the car towed back to my house and after testing all components, it was determined that the car wasn't getting any fuel due a faulty fuel pump.

My car is exhibiting several of the symptoms listed with regards to the fuel pump recall. Vw has contacted me with no eta on when the issue can be resolved. Vehicle is exhibiting no crank (stationary) and has lost power (while driving) and the battery which was less than 3 years old had to recently be replaced.
Fuel pump control module we contacted Volkswagen about the failure of the fuel pump control module and were told that this one is not covered under the NHTSA recall. The problem: replacing the battery in September 2017 and having a starting problem in mid-October. Took the car to a Volkswagen dealer. . . They ran test to find out the problem, well the battery failed the test so they had to replace but at the same time they told us the fuel pump control module was failing. They stated it was heating up and should be replaced. When I did some background research on a fuel pump module I found recall notices which included 2006-2010 Passat wagons which is our car. The recall states," the pump condition also could cause the fuel pump to run continuously, draining the battery and making the car unable to start". This was happening on the month old battery we just had replaced. So I want to find out if this car can be included in the recall because it is a problem that is in keeping with the recall!.
There was a recall on my fuel pump in August. Contacted my dealer in oct. 23, and they say there are no parts to replace my fuel pump. I looked at the dangers if it is not working properly, one of which is my car could loose power and just stop as I am driving my car. I have to drive on highways and I am scared about this. Why don't they have the parts from vw to fix my fuel pump?.
