2 Other Fuel Type Engine Turbo-charger problem of the 2001 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 12/14/2004

I own a 2001 1. 8 turbo vw Passat with give or take 57,000 miles. The 1. 8 turbo has an issue with oil sludge. While researching this issue I have discovered that this is not an uncommon problem with the 1. 8 turbo and have concluded that this issue seems to be a manufacturing defect. Accordingly, vw has extended the power train warranty. I have records showing that all of my oil changes were done within a timely manner. However in two instances I exceeded the "recommended maintenance": in the first case it was by 26 miles and in the second case it was approximately 290 miles. If vw has denied my claim due to those situations, they should not state in the warranty that the owner follow the "recommended maintenance" schedule but that the owner should follow a "required maintenance" schedule. I would also like to point out that a 2001 car, that cost over $22,000, that has been taken care of, and has less that 60,000 miles, such as mine, should not have engine failure. Even if I went over the "recommended maintenance" by 500 or 700 miles, which was not the case, the engine should not give out. Vw needs to take accountability for this issue. I would also like to point out that I never received notification from vwoa regarding the oil sludge issue. I have all of my records stating that I have performed the "recommended maintenance" not required maintenance, in a timely manner. Yet vw has denied my claim to cover the engine under warranty.

3 Other Fuel Type Engine Turbo-charger problem of the 1999 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 07/25/2003

I have a 1999 Passat wagon (@ 84,000 mile) and have had a buring oil smell for the past 18 months (it started @ 60,00 mile). It has been to a few dealers numerous times and all they ever to is replace gaskets. They have also replaced turbo charger, mas air flow, and every possible gasket. We have even had the vw rep into help solve the problem. They worked on it - said they found other gaskets - but it still burns. It is worse when it sits idle and does not happen wheh the ac is on. I just got it back from the delaer two days ago and the smell is still there - of course on their invoice they claim the smell is gone. They are such liars and all the serivce people know how to do is replace parts. I have decided to access the lemon law.

4 Other Fuel Type Engine Turbo-charger problem of the 2002 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 12/24/2002

The ignition coil has has had to be replaced three times in my 2002 Passat. Vw knows about the problem but due a shortage of parts, they will only fix them on a needed basis. Ts.

5 Other Fuel Type Engine Turbo-charger problem of the 1999 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 10/06/1999

Oil filter line was routed too close around catalytic convertor. This caused it to overheat the metal oil line. Flow of oil to the turbo-charger would be stopped. Also, engine bearings burned up & turbo-charger destroyed. Took vehicle to dealership to check.

The spark plugs/ignition coil has a manufactures defect. Both components causes the vehicle to lose power with no warning. Ph.
