New 2019 Tiguan s 4motion purchased in Feb 2020 and has about 8k miles. Already having issues with hard shifting (both up and down) and have had the vehicle chug/stall and almost cause a crash 2 times now because it wouldn't accelerate. All of these issues are after about half hour of driving. Hard downshift is normally around 20-30mph and up shift 30-40. Never jerked before and now it's hard and very unsafe.

After fueling up at a gas station the 2018 Tiguan would not start. It was dead. Stationary at the fuel pump. Warning lights came on the dash to indicate steering column failure. No symptoms, the car would not try to start or begin to start. Just errors on dash. Car is only 1 year old with less than 10k miles on it. Dealer asked technician to jump car. No change. Car had to be towed to dealer. Dealer indicated a new steering column needed to be ordered and installed and that it was very odd to have failed. Quick research shows this happens all the time on vws. How can a part like this fail in less than 10k miles?.

I have been having serious stalling issues with this car. . . Since the 1st day I received it. When I am driving the car would refuse to accelerate like getting on and off exits on expressway. . . Changing lanes etc. . . It also stalls and the engine stops while driving. . The car has a lane departure assist which pulls the car from 1 lane into the other violently. . . I am hoping to get this car replaced with another line from vw only because my lease is 5 mnths old. . . They are refusing to help me because there is no recall, maybe if someone dies they will give a rat's ass about this issue. . . An issue they had I. 2014. . . . Ease look into this. . Families can die from this problem.
Our 2019 vw Tiguan with 2 liter turbo motor has a random and repeated engine "stall" issue. The engine does not die but remains at idle (1000 rpm), in either d or s auto trans mode, but there is no forward movement even though the gas pedal is against floor board and then there is a rush of power, this delay lasts from 1 to 5 seconds, just enough to cause traffic merging issues. This problem usually occurs from standing start when driven straight ahead or turning. So far has not occurred above 50mph when entering freeway. This has occurred since car was delivered new with 40 miles on odometer and continues now at 1200 miles and usually at speeds from 0 - 25 mph and under 2000 rpm. I spoke to the local vw service manager and he suggested it was just turbo lag. I have owned turbo cars in past and this is not turbo lag, it is a loss of "signal" due to drive by wire technology which should never be allowed on a vehicle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! otherwise the motor operates fine, providing decent gas mileage and power when on-boost above 2000 rpm. Our last new car a 2016 GMC terrain was also drive by wire but never exhibited this issue. There are numerous complaints online duplicating this problem which I had hoped was cleared up in older versions, evidently not.
Vehicle has been in service 5 times since purchased. Car stalls and does not restart.
New car, 2 months old, 3,000 miles. Issue has happened 4x. First istance, turning left onto a major 3 lane road, car suddenly loses power and then chugs to catch speed leaving you powerless with the foot peddle to the floor. Second instance, exiting a shopping center, light turned green, stepped on gas peddle and car bogged and sputtered as if out of gas and stalled in middle of intersection. Once I got it started again it moved forward. At next traffic light it sputtered again and would not go even after pumping gas peddle. Creeps to a rolling run and then goes. Third instance was entering an on-ramp from a stop light, car sputtered as if out of fuel again and barely made it out of intersection where I had to pull off the road to get the car going. 4x same as above. I'm now at dealer for second time- no repair and they say vw is aware of some customers experiencing this issue no fix at this time. Very dangerous to drive on atlanta city streets. I'm nervous to put my family back in the car.
Today, the car stalled while I was station/stopped at the red light and got dragged by the truck which almost ran over my car. My car's sensor switched to emergency mode and would not let me drive. I wanted to drive my car away when I saw the danger. However, l could not and almost got killed and ran over by the 18 wheels truck.
This vehicle has a drive ability problem. The car has a major hesitation and is very dangerous when pulling onto the highway. The car almost cuts out but doesn't stall and find it very dangerous. The dealer told me that nothing is wrong with it. Also, there was a recall on my ambient lighting on my sunroof. There could be a leak or humidity could affect the wiring and could cause a fire. There fix is to disconnect it. I have no sunroof lighting. I should get a refund for something they took away.
There is all this hesitation when accelerating almost like a bucking or the engine is not getting enough gas/oxygen mix. Then you can press the gas pedal a quarter of the way down and the engine hesitates then throws the car into high gear and takes off. I have driven a lot of cars the past week even a vw touareg that did not act like this car does with the accelerator. It is like the accelerator is not sending the correct single to the engine or the engine's computer is not interrupting it correctly from the accelerator. The computer in the car can be bad and give a false positive. This vehicle has been to 4 dealerships and field engineers have stated that there is a problem but vw refuses to buy back the vehicle. There have been several requests but they keep getting denied and say there is no fix for the vehicle and I feel it is unsafe to drive. I have almost got into 3 accidents because the accelerator would not react and the car stalled out.
I was driving and the car began to stall and vibrate. I had to pull over and took the car in and the reported that the ignition coil was bad.

The contact owns a 2012 Volkswagen Tiguan. While the contact's son was driving approximately 5 mph, the vehicle shuttered and stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the vehicle's timing chain skipped and caused the engine to fail. The timing chain and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
Car stalled driving on highway speed, luckily no accident occurred it's very common failure of ignition coil on almost all vw models , failure will cause your car to be inoperable . Vw didn't issue a recall or at least notify owners of vw cars to change their defective ignition coils.
Timing chain issue: on Nov 18 2015 my wife was driving from work when suddenly the car suddenly stalled. Car was towed to vw dealership in irving TX,where they did diagnostics and concluded that the timing chain slipped out and broke the cylinder head. The total cost was fixing that was around 5000$. The dealership told me that they were no recall on the timing chain issue and I should call vw of America, which I did. I asked them why the dealership whenever I take the car for service didnt not request I change the timing chain. According to them timing chain is not part of the routine service because its supposed to last the life of the car. The vw representative told me I should go ahead and fix the car and whenever they have a recall on the issue they will refund me the fixing cost. Now I am stuck with vehicle in my driveway because I cannot afford to fix the vehicle. And vw will not cover the costs even though they are selling a vehicle which they state the timing chain doesnt need to be changed.

Vehicle stared to run ruff and stall causing a driving hazard. Vw dealer repair facilitate clammed that it was front crank seal p/n 06l-103-085-b cost of part $11. 30. After replacing the seal the dealer then claimed that the pvc valve was bad also p/n 06h-103-495-ac $201. 30. It is known that when this part fails that it will cause the seal to fail as well. Total cost of repair was $774. 07. This vehicle had 66,973 miles. This is a major failure of the vehicle and cause a dangerous condition. The type of failure should not occur on an engine with such low mileage.
The epc light came on many times between 2011 and 2014 and the electronic throttle kicked out of cruise control. Miller vw checked the car July 2011, did not have a solution and cleared the codes. I asked our local mechanic about it in July 2013 who identified that there was a TSB for the throttle body wiring harness. We continued to observe the intermittent epc fault response but experienced no problems. The first major incident occurred 28 June 2014 entering I-89 north when entering traffic the epc and engine fault lights came on and the engine lost all power jusy as we entered the travel lane. The car went into limp mode and would go no faster than 35 mph I switched off the engine while traveling which reset the throttle fault allowing us to continue traveling. This is a short ramp and there is no shoulder at the end of the ramp. I made an appointment for the car at walker vw to repair the car on 2 July. The service department was unable to make the repairs that day as they did not have all of the required parts on hand. On 22 July my wife was preparing to enter I-91 from route 5 south via a left turn on ramp when the epc and engine fault lights came on and the engine went into limp mode just as she was preparing to turn into the on ramp. A tractor trailer was rapidly overtaking her in that lane in a driving rain and the car would not exceed 20 mph. She turned on the flashers and the overtaking trucker veered into the right lane avoiding collision. I then made an appointment with our local car repair shop and trusted mechanic at kingdom imports. They ordered the parts and installed the replacement wiring iaw the TSB on 29 July 2014. Even after ordering two complete sets of parts vw did not include the shrink tape required to stabilize the wiring. Vw has chosen the worst solution and should issue a recall and install a purpose built wiring harness.
In February 2014, my Tiguan began stalling when I would slow down to enter an off or on ramp. I would slow down, but when I attempted to speed back up, the car would begin stalling out, at times stalling out completely. I changed fuel, thinking that might be the problem, but it wasn't. My neighbor, who had just bought a 2014 Tiguan, told me he had received a recall notice regarding stalling issues involving the fuel pump in all Tiguans from 2009-2014. I googled the recall, and then made an appointment regarding this issue, taking my car in on may 5, 2014 at hallmark volkswagon, bakers bridge rd in franklin, TN. The service department, according to my paperwork, states they "replaced transfer pump in tank on driver side then test drove. Found fuel pressure still low. Replaced in tank fuel pump (passenger side) then rechecked. Fuel pressures ok and no longer stalls. " since that service date, my Tiguan has been back to be serviced several times, for continued stalling issues, and to date, has not been resolved. The stalling now occurs at different times and more frequently. The "safety issue" regarding the stalling is a serious one, in that when my Tiguan begins stalling out, my foot is on the gas pedal and not the brake, resulting in the driver behind me not knowing that I am either slowing down or coming to a stop. I have come very close to being rear-ended on numerous occasions due to this issue, and it is only a matter of time, before I do get rear-ended, and the likelihood of it being on a highway by a semi truck is very good, as I drive to cincinnati often to see my cardiologist for heart issues. I leave again in 2 days for heart surgery in cincinnati. . . I have 3 things to fear: 1) getting there safely 2) surviving heart surgery 3) getting back safely . . . The stress of driving a car that may, or may not, stall out, is not good for my heart!.

Car stalled in the middle of bumper to bumper traffic with me and a two year old strapped in her seat. Most horrifying experience in my whole 48 years of life. Your dealer did nothing and said it's all in my head. Car was at the dealership multiple times ever since for stalling while me driving! will start class action suit through an orlando law firm of debaubien, knight, manzaris, simmons and neal unless car is replaced.

While out driving with my parents we just crossed over a very busy intersection, turned into wawa food store and it installed, as a big Cadillac escalade was entering the other entrance, as he almost hit me. I finally came to a stop and I was scared and very shocked as to what just happened. I call the dealership while in the parking lot very upset, as I already had an appointment for them to replace my nav system, already, yes that wasn't working right . . Took it on April 11 and they still have it. The service department was surprised that it happened and made me go outside with him and show him what exactly what it did. Really, like this is new news to them. I have been so upset and really don't want to drive it again and have this happen. I want to know what vw is going to do to fix this problem before any one is hurt or killed in an accident.
Car stalled while moving. After driving for 30 minutes I parked the car for 20 minutes and when pulling out of the parking space the car completely died. I put the car in park, turned the key and there was not a sound. I took out the key and reinserted and the car started. The identical situation occurred 11 days later. Took the Tiguan to vw. They said they could find nothing wrong with it and to keep them posted. Looking at forums the consensus is there is a problem in the fuel pump area but vw is hesitant to replace them. There are multiple reports of the same stalling issue from other 2012 Tiguan owners.
Serveral times while driving my SUV many failure indicator lights indicating epc falure, tire monitoring system failure, license plate light not working, left turn signal not working, brakes lights do not light up, esc not functioning. Trunk also will not unlock. It seemed like every system warning light this car has came on showing system failures. Everytime this has happened my car loses power and barely wants to move or stalls all together having the automobiles behind me almost rear end my SUV. This SUV with these problems is a accident waiting to happen & someone if not me driving these SUV's will get into an accident if vw doesn't find the right problem to correct this safety issue so many owners are having the same electrical problems I read online plus the ones who have filed a complaint already.
I was making a right turn on a red light and the vehicle turned off almost mid turn, forcing an incoming car to swerve quickly to the next lane. This stalling has occurred about 4-5 times in a 6 month time lapse. Mainly it has happened when I've been moving slow in traffic, going through speed bumps and local parking lots, but the most serious was the one I mentioned earlier. This is my second Tiguan, the dealership had changed my first one because of the same issue, but now it's happening again with this one; both have been new and have had low mileage. The problem seems to occur when your traveling anywhere from 10-20 mph and all of a sudden it dies out and you have to turn it off and on again to start it.
The contact owns a 2010 Volkswagen Tiguan. In July 2010, the electronic power control light illuminated. The dealer replaced the accelerator pedal at that time. In October 2010, while the contact was driving approximately 40 mph and attempting to turn, the vehicle suddenly stalled. The contact was able to restart and drive to the dealer where a few parts were replaced (the name of the parts were unavailable). The contact called the manufacturer who offered to assist with a one month payment towards the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 4,000 and the current mileage was 6,053.
