I've only owned the vw Tiguan 2012 for 6 months, January 2020 and the vehicle engine shuts off, all power lost and has to be restarted. This has happened more than 8 times in the past 6 months, 2 times in the past week, it shut off while driving on the highway and yesterday July 20,2020 while driving through an intersection.

While driving on the highway, at highway speed (70mph), an error appeared saying the engine had exceeded 4000rpm, which it hadn't, and then it shut off for "safety". We lost the power steering and brakes at 70mph. We were able to get off the road, stop and restart the car and proceed home. This happened three times. The car is now at the dealer. The car is 18 months old with 20k miles.

At 2982 miles engine light came on start/stop error when car was moving there was rpm drop and rough engine. . Dealer diagnosed misfire cylinder #2 , poured additive in fuel, told me car was road tested invoice shows same mileage in and out. At approx. 7400 miles the same identical thing happened when I was driving. The car was towed to dealer may 13, 2019. Dealer informed me may 15, 2019 there was misfire cylinder # 2 and cylinder #4. Car is still at dealer as of today may 2019. These miss fires are a driving hazard, they cause rpm to drop, can cause engine shut down loosing power steering and power brakes. Misfires very common on vw / Audi 2. 0 tsi engines. Vw / Audi stalling customer with fixes that don't work. Please investigate.
Engine shut off at a stopped position randomly.

This car is dangerous! I had vehicle for 4 months and have only driven 411 miles car has started to hesitate when pulling out into traffic, it almost feels like it shuts off for a solid 4 seconds before it decides to accelerate. Gas mileage reads 100mpg, we all know that's not possible. . . Loud wind noises at 50 mph and a pop noise coming from drivers side door every bump in the road at 50 mph . The start stop option turns on and off when the road is rough or slightly bumpy!.
My 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan has 19,000 miles on it. I just bought it from a Honda dealership (single owner, leased) body is in like new shape. The car has stalled on while driving 6 times total, on 3 different occasions, while driving. The engine just shut off without warning (stalled out) while the car was moving over 40mph and an epc light came on. This is extremely dangerous, and left my family in a very dangerous situation on the highway. A car engine should never shut off while driving and now has me feeling very unsafe when driving it. It has been in and out of the local vw dealership for 3 weeks. This car is only a year old and has less than 20,000 miles on it. It should not be stalling out without warning and leaving my family in severely dangerous situations. There is no indication before hand that the car is going to stall. After it stalls out it can take up to 5 minutes to start again. Holding the start button (while putting the car in neutral because it stalled out while driving) to hopefully get it to start again on a dangerous highway in motion in traffic with nothing but a prayer to help us. This needs to be fixed. I would rather have my family safe and my car engine destroy itself, rather than the current process of my car engine "shutting itself down without warning to save itself" while leaving my family in dangerously unsafe situations while driving with a car that turns itself off as it pleases potentially creating a situation in which my family could be injured or worse (as it shuts itself down with a mind of its own when it thinks there is a problem). This car is new and has been at the dealership longer than in my driveway. I do not feel safe letting my family drive it. I lost confidence in this car and have great doubt in its future affordability and safety, reliability. I am very, very concerned.

I was one the high way 1, and I drove about 10 minutes. All of a sudden, my car shut off while driving. The battery light came on and car died. The wheel was even locked. Basically, I was stocked on the highway! then, I restarted my car on the high way 1, and it worked again. The dealer can not find any issue, and the same issues happened to me twice with two months. Now, I have to report this in order to protect myself.

Was leaving the cul-DE-sac where we live and the first intersection is a "t". As the car started to make a left hand turn the car shut down with no warning. With the steering hydraulic system shut down and brake system shut down, we are blessed the car was able to stop before hitting a parked trailer. Put the car on park, restarted the car with no problem, then the engine light came on, put it on drive to drive it back home and stalled again, completely off. After two attempts, made it home and into garage. A couple of hours later I turned the car on and engine light was on. Did not move it. Next morning, to drive it to dealer hoping no tow needed, I noticed no engine warning light so I decided to try driving it to dealer. It stalled and shut down again backing out of garage. Put it on park, turned it on but did not turn on a/c this time. Made it all the way ok to dealer and engine warning light never turned on. Around the dealer, I drove it with a/c on and could not replicate the event. Highly concerned that this could have happened at a higher speed on a gradual curve would have been potentially a deadly accident. I'm expecting a call from the dealer sometime today.
My first complaint is the a/c unit went out in some time after oct. 2013 when we purchased the car. And no one wants to respect the fact it had only 30,000 miles on it. The second complaint is the engine cuts out every so often about once every month after you start it put it in gear and begin to roll the car just shuts off. It happened three times in one parking lot while in texas for cancer treatment! I love my car but not the fact no one wants to take responsibility for the errors in it's systems.
The engine is shutting off/stalling without any warning, this has happened a few times. Each time the symptoms are the same, after driving for about an hour the car is parked and left for one or two hours. When it is restarted it runs for about 30 seconds and then shuts off with no warning, the car can be moving at the time or stationary and still in park, either way the engine can be restarted but may shut down for a second time after another 30 seconds. So far it has not required more than one restart, there are no fault codes which may indicate a fuel or electrical issue. I have researched this and it appears to be a common issue with the Tiguan. My concern is that the car may be involved in an accident as you have to wait for the car to come to a complete stop then select park and restart the engine, you can then put it back into drive before you can pull away again, and repeat if it happens a second time.
I was pulling out onto a major road. The car had been running for at least 30+ minutes. I attempted to make a left turn into the middle lane. The car died and I was halfway into the lane. I was unable to get it restarted for a few mins. It eventually started again. There was no warning signs. The car just stopped running and came to an abrupt stop. I took the vehicle to oakland CA vw service and I was told that the fuel filter was changed. "sorry, we don't know what is wrong with it, there are no faults showing but if it keeps happening bring it back. " again, I was driving down a road at approximately 35 mph. The car shut off without any warning. There was no sputtering, no warning lights - nothing. Again the car came to an abrupt stop. I was kind of expecting another occurrence so I luckily was able to pull off to the right to avoid a traffic accident. I will be taking the car back into vw of oakland. I am due to leave the state for vancouver, washington and then drive to pennsylvania. At this point the problem is a cause for major concern over the safety of my family and myself. I am too worried that the car will shut off while driving down an interstate which can/could result in a major accident.
While driving on a highway at approximately 35mph the vehicle shut down. I tried to re-start the engine and it did not start. The vehicle came to full stop. It took a while to re-start the engine. The first incident was repaired by a vw dealer, but I never got a clear explanation of what happened. The second incident happened last Sunday on a high traffic local road at about 45 mph. The vehicle shut down and again came to a full stop. It will not re-start.
