1 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan

Failure Date: 03/07/2020

When accelerating, engine does not respond accordingly. Engine hesitates to accelerate and will stay in the low rpms despite the pedal being full pushed in. After a few seconds(maybe 15-30sec), it will rapidly accelerate corresponding to where the pedal is. This constantly happens, it has occurred ever since I purchased the vehicle 1 year ago. I cannot tell if it is an issue with the engine, the transmission, or the electrical components between the 2. It makes trying to merge onto a highway, accelerate into another lane, or turn onto a street very dangerous as I cannot be certain when it will accelerate. This issue occurs in all modes (eco, normal, sport). I have taken this to a dealership once but they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Additionally, there is an issue with the side passenger seatbelt sensor. It keeps going off if I have my phone charging sitting on top of it or if I rest my hand on the seat.

2 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan

Failure Date: 02/20/2019

The first day I drove my new 2019 Tiguan sel home, I opened the passenger driver-side door and the handle got stuck and would not go back in. . . Made an appointment for 2-days later to get this fixed. During the 2-day waiting period, I was stopped in a turning lane on a four-lane, lighted road to make a u-turn. When I hit the gas peddle to go the car jerked forward, and went to a standstill for about 5-seconds while my foot was firmly pressing the gas peddle. This caused the two oncoming vehicles to have to screech to a stop; and the vehicle in the middle lane had to swerve to avoid hitting me and spin out. When the Tiguan started moving forward, I had to pull over because I was shaking. The same issue happened again the next day, but no oncoming cars were in sight. Went in for the door appointment, I told the service rep about engine and asked to speak to a manager. An assistant manager came out, I told him about the engine, and he respond that's a vw and gave me a hug and two free t-shirts. New door handle had to be ordered due to corrosion, had to come back 3-days later to have it fixed. During those 3-days, the passenger seat seat belt warning sound started randomly going off, along with the airbag light flashing above the hazard light when my handbag was on the seat. Reported that and the engine issue again at next appointment. Had to leave the car for two days. . . At pick-up was told everything was tested fine, but vw did not bother to test the seat sensor. Was instructed to not put anything on the passenger seat, as stated in the car's manual. Requested a new vehicle, or let me out of my lease due to feeling totally unsafe. . . Was denied by both corporate and dealer. Money should never come before safety, so I paid $3000 to break my lease today as vw corp & dealer told me to get back in that car. This is a deadly safety issue.

3 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan

Failure Date: 05/06/2018

Bright red "oil can" starts flashing on screen while on major highway. Made I home. The next day the car kept staling before I even left for work. Found out no oil was being distributed through the motor causing the engine to seize. Loud noise could also be the timing belt, which is a common problem in these vehicles. Now I have a car that is not paid off, and I can't drive. This is an absolute nightmare.

Failure Date: 07/07/2017

I purchased my 2010 vw Tiguan a year ago. At 10k miles as requested I did the oil change. A month later or so oil started to leak. One day I drove my car to a store and left the engine running because I was only there for a few mins. Came back and my engine died. My mechanic diagnosed it and stated it was the timing belt that went. A lot of of people has been complaining about oil leak in general with this vehicle. Wish I knew sooner I would have never bought this car.

8 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Tiguan

Failure Date: 06/23/2016

On 6/23/16 (77000 estimated miles) vehicle signaled "oil pressure low" it immediately stalled while in motion on the expressway during traffic hour during our vacation while it was on and we were driving. Miraculously we were able to push the stalled vehicle to safety and there were no injuries. It has to be towed to our hometown. Vw dealership advised us that it would require an engine replacement. That the timing belt had taken out the engine. Estimated costs of repairs $7800. Owner's manual states that the timing belt is a lifetime part, it does not suggest maintenance or repair of it at any point. Our private mechanic repaired it for $3800. Spoke to vw stated that they would not repair or cover the costs. Case #161500844 with vw.

9 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan

Failure Date: 05/15/2016

My vw 2011 Tiguan's timing belt skipped and end up damaging the engine. The car was stationary, my wife, a couple of hours before came back from a meeting in the car and parked it. Then when she went back to the car it cranked but didn't turn on. It only has 58k miles but vw is not responding because it was 5 month past the warranty end date. This happened in 5/2016. . . Most of the recommended scheduled maintainance were performed and most have been performed in the dealership but the last one that was performed in firestone. Still no resolution from vw other than telling us that we are out of luck and that we have to pay for the repairs, about $12k.
