1 Battery problem of the 2005 Acura TL

Failure Date: 03/14/2012

The hands free link (hfl) modules have been failing resulting in a 200ma current drain. This results in the module shorting out and may subsequently result in a fire. I discovered this as a result of the battery draining to 5 volts overnight as well as a much high than normal temperature of the plastic cover under the hfl module. I removed the module according to Acura service bulletin 05-020 dated September 23, 2005.

2 Battery problem of the 2007 Acura TL

Failure Date: 06/30/2010

2007 Acura Tl battery sometimes drains completely if the vehicle is not used for 2 or more days (nothing left on). Some electronics must not be shutting down and continue draining the battery. Dealer claims it's normal that if you go on a trip your car might not start if it hasn't been used in a few days which is preposterous. Afraid to leave car at airport when traveling. I've had to bring the vehicle in twice in the last 12 months. First time they replaced the battery; last time they could find nothing drawing power. Web search reveals lots of people having this problem. Dealer admitted they're replacing lots of batteries - but that doesn't fix the problem.

5 Battery problem of the 1997 Acura TL

Failure Date: 05/16/2005

There was heavy rain the night before the incident occurred. The vehicle was parked in driveway when the consumer got up and went to get in the car and found that the driver's side door, driver side dash , and driver side seat had burned. The floorboard was damaged by dripping plastic. The only hot wire was in the door locking mechanism. The fire would not have happened if there was a fuse operational in the circuit. The battery was almost brand new, and it was almost dead. The caller stated that the only reason the fire died out was because it ran out of oxygen. The manufacturer was called, and has not returned the call. Also the caller indicated that the door lock made a noise even after the doors were locked but not all the time. The vehicle was determined unrepairable.
