2 Starter problem of the 2006 Acura TL

Failure Date: 07/24/2017

Over the years since I purchased the Acura 06 Tl I have been having problems with the battery- car won't start sometimes. I purchased a few batteries already. Finally on 7-24-2017 I was out of town (west palm beach) when my car won't start. I went to closest Acura dealer where I learned that the issue was a defective hfl that had a parasitic drain on the battery from defective hfl. Had to purchase another battery. Acura never informed me that there was a defect of hand free link. In past I had to replace the starter and power steering. Certain features still does not work- passenger front window, heating element for car seat passenger, power outlet in console box.

3 Starter problem of the 2006 Acura TL

Failure Date: 03/21/2016

I have been having a battery drain problem. I charge the battery and it drains overnight. Battery was check out to be ok. This is the second battery that I bought in two years. I also bought a portable starter so as not to be stranded. Finally the bluetooth fuse was removed and draining stopped for about six weeks. I am noticing that the car when started in the morning is beginning to sound like the problem may be occurring again. Now the second issue is that the passenger dashboard side is cracked. I feared that the airbag would eventually deploy therefore I took it to the dealer. They assured me that it was safe and wrote on the paperwork I received that it was safe. On hot days, the split on both sides of the airbag are much wider and I can now see the shape of the hinge or bolt that keeps it together. Driving with this situation is very unnerving. Acura needs to remedy this issue. Those that go into my car are appalled and would never purchase an Acura based on my vehicle.

4 Starter problem of the 2006 Acura TL

Failure Date: 02/07/2015

Battery kept going dead and stranding me in multiple places. Had to purchase a portable car starter in order to keep restarting the car. Couldn't find any official reasons behind it from any Acura sources. After some internet searching I found out that the hfl bluetooth module was causing a battery drain for many other owners. Solution was to remove the module. After that the problem went away. Was stranded multiple times -- very unsafe!! also had to purchase car starter and new battery! Acura dealers refused to pay for the new hfl replacement. This is a safety issue that has affected many drivers. Could be very dangerous.

5 Starter problem of the 2006 Acura TL

Failure Date: 04/04/2014

I've been having problems with my Acura Tl (2006) starting. In January of this year, it was determined that I had a faulty battery and that was replaced under warranty. Last week, my car was getting very slow to start. I take it in to Acura and they tell me that the hands free link has a parasitic draw on the battery and told me it needed to be replaced. I have never, ever used this feature and was incensed that I had to pay $400 to replace it! today, a mere seven days later, my car would not start at all. I had it towed back to the Acura and they tell me its the starter. . . Over $500 to fix!!! I've read on several forums that there have been issues with the hfl. Being stranded is a safety issue! Acura and the government needs to take this seriously. I am a single parent and this has placed a parasitic drain on my savings!.

7 Starter problem of the 2007 Acura TL

Failure Date: 07/09/2013

Vehicle was parked in driveway; had not been driven for 2 hours. Heard a pounding, hammering noise from inside my house and when I entered the driveway the vehicle's engine was running, although it was a very rough idle. There was a smell of something burning coming from underneath the hood. I inserted the key into the ignition to turn off the engine but since the ignition was not in the on, or run, position, to begin with, the key had no effect on the engine (that is, I could neither turn the engine off nor on, using the key), and the vehicle continued to roughly run. I then called the fire department but the vehicle had stopped running when they arrived. However, the fan was running and they thought that was natural after the engine had shut off. I told them that this vehicle had never had the fan run after the ignition was turned off, that it did not have a remote starter (they asked), and that it had really started by itself. They said the smell was a result of an electrical fire in the engine and they disconnected the battery so that the problem did not recur. There were no visible flames and the vehicle has not yet been examined for damage as the incident occured just a few hours ago. I am the originial owner of the vehicle (6 years).

8 Starter problem of the 2005 Acura TL

Failure Date: 01/01/2011

My issues with my car started about 3 years ago. I have had to replace the power steering rack and pump after the Acura recalled the hoses, but I was told that the hoses had nothing to do with my issue. I have had to replace the starter, the headlight computer unit, and both ignitors in the headlight. I am on my third battery in 2 years and no one can tell me why my battery is continuously dying. About two years ago, the bluetooth system all of a sudden stopped working. In the last year, my dashboard has started to crack from the driver to the passenger side, and the damage is much severe and prominent over the air bag area. I was told by Acura support that it should not cause any problems to the air bag, and the air bag should deploy appropriately with no problems. Prior to me purchasing my so-called "luxury" Acura, I had a 2000 Honda civic, and I never had any major issues with it. Thinking that I purchase an Acura, and it was the worst mistake I've made in my life. I have advised all my family and friends not to purchase an Acura becasue the quality sucks and it is a waste of your money due to all the money you have to put in for the repairs. In the past couple of months, I've spent almost $4000 on repairs for simple things like headlight issues and sensors. I spoke with Acura customer care about assistance with repairing my dashboard and I was offer a 50% discount based on their criteria which I believe are ridiculous. One of the criteria that they look at is to see have you been a loyal customer as far as maintenance and repairs are concerned. I informed the guy that the nearest Acura dealership is an hour and half away from my home, and it made no sense for my to drive the distance for an oil change. Completely fed up with Acura!!.
